The initial quote was $4,951, but we requested a winch for safe loading/unloading, increasing the cost by $650 to $5,601. Communication issues began immediately. Five Star Logix set a delivery date for Tuesday, August 27, but on Monday, August 26, they notified us--just 30 minutes in advance--that the trailer was about to arrive, and without the requested winch. This caused a last-minute scramble, as our unloading arrangements weren't scheduled until the next day. We managed to secure a truck with a hitch, but unloading without a winch was risky, frustrating, and resulted in the trailer bottoming out. Afterward, we contacted Five Star Logix about the issues. They admitted fault but initially offered only a $100 refund. After a lengthy email exchange, they increased the offer to $300, claiming the remaining $350 was a non-refundable deposit to Shiply, the third-party service we used to book the job. We accepted the initial $300 refund, and began correspondence with Shiply. However, Shiply clarified that they are a neutral service and were not responsible for refunds, that we would need to work it out with the transportation provider. They gave us the breakdown of fees to Shiply, however, which indicated 14.3% of the total amount went to them. Based on our calculations, roughly $556.93 of the $650 winch fee went to Five Star Logix. We requested a compromise refund of $256.93 on November 10th (less the $300 already refunded) and they promised to look into it further. It's now December 21 and we have not heard back. Five Star Logix failed to deliver services, miscommunicated repeatedly, lied to both us and the delivery driver, and dragged us through a frustrating 39-message exchange. Despite admitting fault, they refused to fully refund the $650 we paid for a winch they never provided. This experience has left us feeling frustrated, tired, and ripped off.

This put us in a bad spot since we were supposed to be moving out of state... that got delayed. There is no communication, no punctuality, and no professionalism. Recently I came in to replace the rear brake pads because my Mini Cooper gave an automatic warning to replace them based on mileage. I brought it to Auto 7 Tech; rather than simply replacing the pads they inspected it and actually told me that the pad thickness was fine and that I didn't need to replace them yet - the prioritized being honest over getting me to pay for potentially unnecessary service. However when I went to pick my car up, they let me know that they had inspected more closely and found that the inner surface on the left pad was indeed worn down. I appreciate this attention to detail and transparency. I also asked them if I needed to replace the rotors, and they told me that they had driven the car around and concluded that the rotors didn't need replacement (in contrast two other shops insisted on bundling the pad replacement and the rotor replacement). In my experience Auto 7 also gives very fair pricing compared to other shops. At Auto7 they will inspect your car carefully and thoroughly before recommending service, and they will not try to upsell you or take advantage of you.

I can no longer recommend Atypical Mechanic after how they have recently treated me…read more I originally used them in 2021 and left a 5* review for them, but the short story is they quoted me a flat $120 diagnostic fee, showed up and did the diagnostic and asked for $240. We were able to work that out, I thought, and I left a 5* review as they did do the diagnostic I paid for. Fast forward to February of 2022 and I had them back for a different problem, and they diagnosed the problem as needing a right front wheel bearing. Took the car to Juke and did the job and that didn't fix the problem at all. After some diagnosis at Juke, they said I would need the left front wheel bearing and new engine mounts to fix the problem. $2,000 in repairs later, the problem went away. I never left Atypical a bad review for their diagnosis even though it was only 1/3 of the problem. Lucky for me, Juke was nice enough to waive their diagnostic fee to find the real problem. Fast forward to 2023 and I emailed them for a few price quotes for other jobs. After some back and forth, they told me they are "not the best fit for [my] mechanic needs moving forward." I don't remember anything happening when they did the diagnosis in 2022 other than their tech leaving an expensive tool in my vehicle which I contacted them to return. I guess they finally decided they were mad from 2021 that they didn't get another $120 out of me? I don't know. I asked for clarification on what their issue is but they refused to explain if it was anything other than the first incident. I've paid my invoices and have no issues with Atypical Mechanic, so I'm not sure what their issue is with me. UPDATE 03/29/23: Jeremy makes two points in his response. First, that I knew the diagnostic fee was hourly. This is incorrect, and his original message says: "Our evaluation fee is $120. This is also our hourly fee so if your evaluation is under an hour the remainder of that fee would go towards the repair." The first sentence says the evaluation fee is flat rate $120, not hourly, and only talks about a discount applied to the hourly rate for repair. It's poor wording on his part, and when we spoke on the phone Jeremy seemed to understand where I was coming from. Apparently that was not the case, and two years later he still feels like he is in the right and I'm combative. Second, he says I cancelled multiple appointments within an hour which is just a blatant line. I looked over all of the emails, and here are the timelines for all of my appointments: 01/31/22 @ 3:02pm: appointment scheduled for 02/11/22 @ 1:30pm 02/10/22 @ 2:57pm: rescheduled appointment for 02/14/22 @ 11:30am (22 hours in advance) 02/14/22: appointment kept and paid $120 diagnosis 02/14/22 @ 3:49pm: appointment scheduled for 02/24/22 @ 1:30pm 02/23/22 @ 7:34am: appointment cancelled (29 hours in advance) With Atypical's appointments running 2 weeks in advance at that time, it was hard to know my schedule that far out. I rescheduled and cancelled when I found out I would not be available. 22 & 29 hours does not seem egregious to me, and I'm sure you filled those holes if you were booking 2 weeks out. But to say I cancelled MULTIPLE TIMES and WITHIN AN HOUR is an outright lie. You can say that you found me combative, but don't lie, Jeremy. Not a good look when I can pull up the times from my email to prove you're wrong.

We had scraped the side of our rear driver side door on our Model Y pulling into our garage. We took the car to another body shop and they completely botched the job - the paint was a complete mismatch and they had sanded the door down so badly that there were no body lines left. It was completely unacceptable and needed to be fixed. We knew that we needed to take it somewhere that knew exactly how to handle a Tesla and restore it back to factory. Autocraft was exactly what we needed. They concluded that the previous work was so bad that we needed a new door. Once we decided to go with them, they promptly ordered the door for us and got us on their schedule. Tammie and Jaci were amazing. Our insurance initially didn't want to cover this because of the initial botched job, but Tammie fought for us the whole way and ran it all the way up the chain and got it approved. Amazing. On top of the above and beyond customer service, the work was flawless. They completely restored our Model Y back to factory. Don't make the mistake we did and use a non-Tesla approved body shop. Autocraft is the only choice.
