Just in and out with no upselling or scam recommendations, perfect SMOG experience. I don't know what's going on, but everywhere I go lately, things are getting better. Perhaps it's me being a smart consumer and researching the location first or companies actually trying to treat the customer right. Matter of fact, I had my daughter take the minivan here today because of Yelp reviews, price and convenience. The guys here were very professional and had her out in a short amount of time with positive results. Was it free, no, but the price was competitive and I was relatively confident there would be no issues. The technician told her that I would be able to complete the transaction online, which I just did. So everything worked perfectly and I saved a stamp. ;) Not much more to say, besides great service and honest results. read more

This is a very dishonest and sketchy location to perform a smog test, and I discourage others from testing here. On January 26, 2017 I took my car for a smog check at US Smog in Lake Forest, run by Martin Alfaro and John Nguyen. They began the test and soon after, Martin brought me over to my car to show me and stated that the PCV hose was leaking toxins into the atmosphere, which led to my car "failing" the test. Since I am not very knowledgeable with car repairs, I took his word for it and and paid $32.75 for the test. They then told me once I purchase the hose, I can come back and have them install it and then perform another test for an additional $35 or so. On January 31, 2017 I took my car to a different certified location to perform a smog check. Without having installed or even mentioning the issue with the PCV hose, my car passed their smog test. It came to my realization that US Smog had performed an unethical approach in testing my vehicle. US Smog pointed out something "wrong" with my car so that they could fail the test, have me come back to install the PCV hose and resolve the issue, and then re-test for an additional smog test, so that they may profit financially instead of providing their customer with a honest evaluation. I took my daughters car in to get smogged, and it didn't pass the first time. We had the repairs done, and were told that the retest would be free and we would just have to pay for the certificate. I send my daughter back to get it tested again, with the original receipt and smog test, and they tell her that she has to pay for a new test and certificate. She calls me, and I talk to the guy and he tells me the same thing, that I have to pay for the test again. Don't waste your time on this place, they lie about their services, just waste your time, and were extremely rude to me and my 16 year old daughter. read more

There was one other person in line when i got here on a Friday afternoon. The guy working had us fill out paperwork and then took our keys. Both cars were done in ten minutes. Paid and left. They do have a small waiting room but it's probably better to sit outside especially when it's hot. read more

I arrived right at opening as I needed to smog my car. The guy tells me the tech that does smog won't be in until 9. Ok cool I'll run a few errands and get back at around 9. He gets all my info grabs my car sets it up in the back and ten minutes later he says the tech is having some trouble. Don't go here. With all the smog stations around this one is as corrupt as ISIS. They did a smog for me and tested the truck wrong. They told me my O2 monitors for downstream O2 for my 2000 excursion needed to run and to drive further before charging my again for a retest. I did and still nothing went back 2 weeks later only to have them tell me to take it to the dealer to get fixed. I went to another reputable shop and when they tested the truck as a Federal (which is listed under the hood as such) instead of California vehicle, guess what, it passed with flying colors. I requested to have my money refunded and they said nothing could be done sorry! read more

Martin was very kind when I called ahead to ask if he had time to get my car in today. The shop was closing in 15 mins but he said he would wait for me & get my car in before closing. So I rushed right over, he met me outside & gave me the paperwork to fill out while he completed working with the customer in front of me. I was there for a total of 15 mins with no issues. This place is trash. The guy had an attitude with me from the start, and to make things worse I handed him a coupon and I could tell he did not like that. So he then failed my car. "Because of blue smoke" took it to another smog test and it passed with no smoke problems. This place only sounds good because of the price but in reality you get what you pay for. Never again. If I could give this place negative stars, I would! I called to ask what time they closed and if they would be able to take me. The guy said yes, no problem there was only 1 car that he was testing now. When I got there 5 minutes later the guy told me he couldn't do my car because there was now a line of 6 people. I looked around and saw 3 other people. I figure he just wanted to get off early. Then, I start to ask the other customers how long they had been waiting and all said over 15 minutes. The smog check was done quickly, I wasn't waiting more than about 20 minutes once they took it back. My main reason for a 4 star review is that I didn't feel really acknowledged for the 10 minutes I was waiting for an employee to get me started. It took 5 minutes for someone to help me, and then once they did I was given paperwork to fill out and left alone for another 5 minutes. Overall the experience was fine (my car passed no problem, so I didn't have to deal with anything too complicated) and fast enough, the customer service was just lacking. read more

They might seem cheaper, but that's because the place is a joke. Go to someone who knows how to do their job. Failed me on my first smog check because I had an aftermarket intake on. I put the original on and brought it back for a retest that passed. Did some research and my aftermarket intake was legal, the guy just couldn't find my vehicle in the list, maybe MARTIN should go back to school so he can learn how to read. Waste of time and money. I showed him a print out of my vehicle on the website he checked and he's just like oh. All I wanted after was a refund for the retest and I would have been happy, but he refused since he did the retest. The only reason he did the retest was because Martin couldn't find the code! read more

He told me the check would take about 15-20 minutes but I was in and out, paid and done in no more then 10-15 minutes!
