Update: has not changed. Still the basic do a smog check and leave place. Made a mistake by going to the shady place in Mobil down the street who said I needed to do an additional test. Came right back here and passed and out in less than 20 mins. Use their online coupon AND READ THE EXCEPTIONS for the best deal as the coupon doesn't cover all vehicles. The lobby is pretty dingy but that reflects how they can keep the price low. I'm still good with it. read more

I came in for a quick smog test since my car was due for registration renewal. Saw a coupon for $29.75 online. It was close to my work so I thought I'd support the local small shop. My mistake for not researching them prior to going in. The process wasn't too long, about 30 to 45 minutes. When it came time to pay I showed him the coupon and he told me my car doesn't qualify. The coupon does say "Most Cars 2000 & Up". What it really should say is "Some Cars". My car is a 2017 and isn't an SUV. Yet he said I don't qualify. So which cars do? He didn't say. I ended up paying $58. Feel like I got bait-n-switched. Feels like this is borderline illegal. I actually don't mind the price I paid so much as the shady practice of the "fake" coupon. So if you're looking to smog your car and you see this review, I hope this helps steer you to a better business. read more

Spoke to the owner over the phone first (Howard?) - he tried to tell me it would be $51 using the $29.75 coupon (+ $8 certificate). I said, "Whoa - that's not what your coupon says". Gave me a bunch of gobble-de-gook and I said "no thanks". He did call back and agreed to $41 out-the-door. That was okay as it was only $3 over the stated coupon price. I agreed to do so. The performance of the task was fine but not honoring the coupon (based on all the reviews) seems to be a recurrent theme here. Just wanted to add update to this after I took my car to another place with the check engine light on they said it was a battery drain error and just reset it. Unfortunately, while renewing our tags on line, I completely "missed" the part about needing a Smog Certificate this year! And, when I went to put on the "tags" found the proverbial "your registration is paid pending Smog Cert" letter in lieu of my "2025" sticker! I quickly called around and Martin, was extremely helpful over the phone. Within 1 hour I was over at US Smog, with only 1 vehicle ahead of mine (no appointment was made) 1 hour later, I was on my way...vehicle passed, paper work attached to my "registration" and information transmitted to the DMV. (Should receive the tags by next week!) Yes, the price was more than the "coupon" but it clearly states that it would be, ie, SUV's more. Yes, it's small and not "bright and shiny"...they do SMOG CHECKS...they're not selling luxury cars! But, they're helpful, knowledgeable and do what they do well (aside from getting you in/out in a reasonable amount of time!) I went in for a smog check on a 2010 Lexus ES 300 mid size sedan. I told him a had a coupon and he would not honor it calling my 14 year old car luxury. I've had my car smog before, had car washes before, and it is not considered a luxury car. Now maybe the higher end models are but it was classic bait and switch. 17 Year Customer Lost I have been using this location since 2005 for two vehicles, which means every year I was bringing one in for smog . I don't know if there was a change in ownership that led to my experience today. Just look at reviews from 2019 to today and you will see the difference in experience. My reason for going there was the advertised price with coupon. I have an SUV and Truck. With coupon they always added $10 for the larger vehicle, which doesn't really make sense, when it really isn't a different process or take additional resources. However it was still a great price. Today when going in they tried to double the advertised price and reduce $10. When questioned, I was given an explanation of, "I don't know if you ever got a smog before, but it costs more." Let me refer back to the fact that I have used this location annually for the last 17 years with one vehicle or another. I told him that I have and that I had used this location and shared the pricing that I have paid in the past. The dismissive response instantly sent me out the door looking for one of the 15 other options within five miles. I gave an extra Star because the manager came to rescue. This is how my day starts, I took my work truck here for the smog and waited around 40 min, smog passed, I went to AAA to complete the registration and Waite another 45 min for them to tell me the smog company used the wrong system for my truck and they cant register it so I called the manager of US Smog he asked me to go back and re do it , then their machine was locked and wouldn't start anyhow another hour and half of waiting in a dirty place and sitting on some totally disgusting chairs was not fun at all, my advice is that if you visit this place make sure to ware a clothing that you don't care much for so you can burn it afterwards. I visited their next door place and that place is like a high end hotel compare to this one and price is the same, so for the future I know who to go to on my other trucks and cars... read more
