Daisy Cruz was very helpful in preparing me for the application process of various RN residency programs, resume building and gave me reminders of when to apply. All of the clinical professors are exceptional, they have so many years of experience and I felt that each one really wanted us to succeed as future nurses. They advocated for us to experience as much as possible in the clinical setting and were all very encouraging. As for the simulation lab, I had a great experience, Diane Le was helpful when I needed to reschedule a simulation lab. And most of the simulation professors were really supportive and encouraging.

I can say that I was abled to get the best educational experience because of my instructor Cabantug Noli. Mr. Noli guided me to come out my comfort zone and become the leader I am today. Mr. Noli set example for my peers and I, where we were encouraged to work with one another and elaborate on each other's skills. He created a safe space which allowed us to be ourselves and receive great knowledge on what it takes to be a CNA. I especially want to thank Ms. Jami and Ms. Ilene. They really cared about us, were always there when we needed help, and pushed us to do our best. Having instructors who actually want to see you succeed makes a huge difference. If you're thinking about becoming an LVN and want a good program that won't break the bank, I'd definitely recommend Northwest College. One of the biggest reasons I enrolled was because of the school's promises regarding career support and help with employment after graduation--but that support was not there when I needed it. In fact, due to poor communication and lack of follow-through, I lost out on a job opportunity. Career services was often rude and unhelpful, and when problems were brought up, they were rarely addressed or taken seriously. I constantly felt like I had to chase answers instead of receiving support as a student. The most frustrating part was near graduation. I was told my graduation would be delayed because of an alleged unpaid balance--even though I had made all my payments, including my cap and gown, with no missed payments whatsoever. I almost missed my graduation entirely because no one contacted me to let me know there was supposedly an issue. The only reason it was caught was because I called them myself. For a school that claims to support its students, my experience was the complete opposite. This process caused unnecessary stress, frustration, and disappointment. Students deserve better communication, accountability, and support than what I received here.

Ladies, if you're feeling a bit intimidated or worried that you'll be treated differently, don't be. The only thing you really need to survive AFA is a sense of humor (that goes for the guys too) I remember sitting in college, debating whether it was the right path for me or if I should take the leap and pursue a trade. I'm beyond glad I did. I have absolutely no regrets about attending AFA. Ralph, Ronnie, Doc, and Kyle not only taught me during my time there, but they continue to teach and support me even after graduation. Whether I need extra practice or advice, before an interview or for a weld test their doors are always open. Luke, Robert, Marcio, and Gus have also been incredibly supportive and instrumental in helping me grow in my welding career. Never in a million years did I think I'd find myself in aerospace, but here I am and I couldn't have done it without the amazing team at AFA. And of course, shoutout to the wonderful ladies in the office, they are always a delight to talk to and often the highlight of my day. Whatever I needed, they were there to help. P.S. If you're looking for a trade school that truly cares about your future not just your tuition this is the place. The staff here go above and beyond to set you up for success, and that support doesn't end when you graduate. I want to give a special thank you to all the instructors who were a part of my journey: Luke, Marcio, Kyle, Ronnie, Doc, and David, Robert, as well as Gus, the recruiter, and Silvia at the front desk. Each of them played a role in my growth. They're not only incredibly knowledgeable, but they also know how to keep things fun always joking around, but dead serious when it comes to teaching you the craft and work ethic this industry demands. In my opinion, AFA is the top trade school in California. To this day, I'm still learning from the advice and lessons they gave me things I never got from traditional high school or anyone for that matter. Forever grateful for the family I made at AFA. Thank you for everything. -Christine class #39

Had some amazing conversations with new friends by the fire pit at night as well. Adult class + camp. Only criticism is that the website says you can fish...but you won't have time.
