STUDENTS BEWARE - DPT program Lebanon, OR is horribly run by admin . Don't have time to go through…read moreit all but will assist prospective students with the following. BEFORE each rotation make WU provide in writing the number of patient cases required to qualify. THEY DONT CURRENTLY DO THIS. Next - In writing, have the clinic and clinical instructor VERIFY, that the clinic confirms the patient cases to be completed. REQUIRE WU and CI/Clinic to provide you with your patient cases weekly so you know where you stand against the schools requirement. WU choose (WU control) the 3rd clinical rotation at a Hospital. The hospital placed student (hospital control) with a Clinical Instructor (CI) that had not been one for 6-7 yrs. She was a poor communicator, missed countless days over 11 weeks (WU shortened by 1 week) where the student was sluffed off onto other PTs at the last minute - (CI had control). To add, her schedule had countless appt cancellations (student - no control). Per usual - Student paid for the move, paid double rent for 3 months, rotation ends on a Friday and WU Grad was on Monday. Student qualified by completing CAPTE requirements. Student packs up and moves 1000 miles home, goes to take state exam and can't sign up, waits patiently. Student gets a call from DPT President 4 weeks later saying student didnt see enough patients and must re-take the FULL rotation 12 weeks - not just the missing hours/patients. Student will now miss window to take state & national exam by 6 months, will lose 4-5 months of good income and early loan repayment. Will finally start a new DPT job and immediately begin paying on a large 6 figure loan. Oh ya, not to forget, the student was on the last interview to get hired by her 2nd clinical location. So thats gone too.

Western University of Health Sciences is not a school that prioritizes student success, growth, or…read moreeven basic fairness -- they care about money, and that's it. My son was two months away from graduating after years of hard work with no prior disciplinary issues. He made a mistake, but it was something that could have absolutely been corrected or used as a teaching moment. Instead, the school dismissed him, with no opportunity for remediation or redemption. They already had four years of his tuition. He had even paid for graduation. But they gave him nothing in return -- no degree, no future, just $500,000 in student loans and a shattered dream. The decision was made by a board that included a teacher who isn't even allowed to teach anymore because they physically assaulted students, including my son -- and yet this person helped decide his fate. There was no compassion, no accountability, and no willingness to help a student learn and grow from a mistake -- which, ironically, is what education should be about. Instead, they acted as judge, jury, and executioner, playing god with my son's future while protecting their financial interests. Please, if you're considering this school -- think twice. For a place that claims to train future healthcare professionals, there is a staggering lack of humanity.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH !!! I passed my NCLEX exam the first time ! ** And Mrs. Michelle and Mrs. Brenda in the front were always so polite and professional! Also, Yvonne (Career Services) is so consistent and will make sure to help you secure employment ! Thank you Yvonne for helping me update my resume ! ** Advice to new nursing students: study, study, study and always be ready and open to learning and improving!

I attended in 2022. DON'T DO IT. Go to community college instead and get your Associates or heck,…read morego to Chaffey College where they offer the dental assisting program at a much lower cost than they do here. They prey on young adults who don't know what they want to do or what career to go into. They sell you this perfect image of "obtaining a good job after only 9 months of dental assisting/ medical assisting." They don't really explain how much debt you're going to be in. I'm almost 10k in student debt from this place and I truly wish I would've never attended. I'm no longer in the dental assisting field since the jobs sucked and you're overworked and underpaid by pretty much every doctor. I'm back in school, this time in community college and it's been a hell of a lot cheaper AND im actually learning. They charge so much at this school and their equipment is really run down and old. To any young adults lost on what to do or what career to pursue: Don't come here, go to community college and complete your General Requirements. All these trade schools (UEI, NORTH WEST, AMERICAN CAREER) all prey on people who don't know what they're truly getting themselves into.

Reflections on transfer student experience: Quickly integrated into social events and groups. Many many offerings including about 5 BSU-related events in 4 days. Each campus has its own BSU, plus there is the office of Black Student Affairs, and so much overlap. Though the overall percentage of Black students could be higher, the ability to find one's people and be supported by the school is great so far. (and there are many professors of color) Lots of new-school-year plant-related events and artsy events (make ___ for your dorm decor and get to know people kind of thing) Professors: there are good and bad everywhere, but so far all professors are great and classes are happening at Pitzer, Pomona, CMC. Treatment of transfers: a little slow. They seem to forget they have transfers at key moments, so resilience when first onboarding is needed. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Academic Accommodations: slow from this office. Much promised but seems so far like students have to bug the office for what is due. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Libraries: as non-students taking a self-guided tour, looks good. Lots of different types of spaces in the beautiful main library, including 2 treadmill desks!. Scripps has a little library that is so pretty. Lovely garden spaces: the Botanic Gardens are HUGE and right next to the CCA (campus-owned apartments where many upperclass can live). Campus has newly revised student garden and associated club. Many lovely spaces on campus to appreciate. Cute downtown has enough to cater to college kids. As with any college decision, student must find the vibe and finances that match them, but Pitzer has much to offer if these 2 things are in line for you.
