My son recently attended EMT school at this location. We chose it because it was the closest to…read moreour home in Temecula. My son was doing well in the class up until the final. The final exam required 80% to pass and he had a 79%. Subsequently, they dropped him from the class. It seems that failing the final, regardless of previous class performance is an automatic drop. There is no re-take allowed. We accept responsibility for my son's failed performance but...I feel that there are some broader (very unusual) circumstances at play which future prospective students should be aware of. 1) My son's class started with somewhere around 33 students By the time of the final it had dropped to somewhere close to 14 Only 6 students passed the final as we understand it That is a sub-20% completion rate Which means that this school is equally stringent to the Navy SEALS BUD/s training? A quick search of Google shows that the average completion rate for EMT schools across CA is about 60-65%. Therefore, this 20% statistic is a red flag for me. 2) The school will not allow any immediate re-takes of the final. When you get dropped, they immediately send you emails on how you can pay another $1500 and re-take their entire course for your second shot at the final. But that is the only way. Proving that there is no moral objection to a re-take by the instructors. You just have to pay for the course again for the attempt. This policy also raises a red flag. 3) Further, I find this unusual given that the NREMT exam can be taken 3x before remedial instruction is required but this school's exam cannot. I also find this policy disheartening as not all students learn best in an academic setting or test best with timed exams. The fact that some students struggle with standardized testing but excel in practical application is a known phenomenon. Therefore, it seems rational to give at least 1 re-take attempt. Even in my days at USMC boot camp, recruits who failed the rifle qualification were given 1 re-take. This is another red flag for me. When I look at these policies...which I am sure were enumerated in whatever forms we signed at registration, as if that is an excuse for bad policy...I am flabbergasted. 1) This school (at least this class) had an attrition rate equal to Special Operations forces, 40% lower than state averages. 2) This school does not allow a final re-take. Well...they do but you have to pay another $1500 and go back through the whole course. And they will be very quick to spam you about that option (and a potential discount enticement) as soon as you get dropped. 3) This school does not allow a final re-take despite the fact that the NREMT that they are "preparing students for" allows 3 re-takes before requiring remedial instruction. The combination of these things is unfortunate and leads me to a conclusion that I hope is incorrect. I feel, based on me and my son's personal experience that the school's model is prioritized more on filling their seats and their pockets rather than helping solid kids with lots of potential become EMTs. I have written this post after careful deliberation as I want to be objective and non-emotional. At the end of the day, my son failed to meet the 80%. That is on us. But the other statistics and policies that I revealed are not about our personal situation and they are things that could affect any student. If I have stated anything non-factual, I am open to correction by the business. I have put forth the information as I understand it. And yes, I have spoke with the business owners via email in private dialogue before I made this post. They did not challenge my assertions. They simply pointed to their policies and said that they "disagree with my characterization." As their response was vapid, I feel it is my duty to write this review and warn others: Do your research and look at the options before you choose SOCAL EMS as your course provider.

She was very helpful and informative since day 1. The Directors of the school are very nice and even made us a home cooked lunch during one of our theory days. Lots of practice and hands on deck type of learning environment before we even hit the clinical facility. Joe had a lot of real life examples of how things might be once you are on the field and working. He lead us in the clinicals, observed us and gave constructive feedback and suggestions. He really had our back in and empowered us to take pride in our work as CNAs as our clinicals were conducted at the same time and same facility as a very pricy RN school students were overheard saying "they are only CNAs" towards our group. After we were finished with the class we had a little more than a month till our state exam. Some of us had concerns that this time gap was too long to still remember everything we were taught. I was grateful that we were welcomed to come by the school on designated days to go over all the material and practice the skills. A lot of us took advantage of this. One day Joe dedicated the whole class to every single student practice the vital signs on each other and at the end he tested every student. On the day of the exam I was nervous but confident. The written part was exactly what I expected. For the skills part I got lucky because my assigned partner was a girl I worked very well with during clinicals. We both made a couple of very minor mistakes. Even though the state board lady seemed very strict and intimidating, she gave us both an opportunity to recover from the mistake immediately by asking a question like "is there anything you are forgetting?" We both passed. Out of 30 students from the Moreno Valley campus, I believe, only 2 people failed. Overall, I believe the college prepared me very well not only for the exam but for the health care field job. We were able to get our American Red Cross first aid and CPR certification conveniently at the college several days after the exam. I have met some awesome people in my class and was lucky that everyone was serious and determined to succeed. You all played a role in my positive experience. The student only worked on the area between the blue lines not wear the white circles are and you can dramatically see how clear my skin became after electrolysis. This photo was taken about 18 days after my treatment. I have tried for so long to get rid of those dots I did everything laser and waxing and sugaring, Creams and oils and lotions nothing seem to work. I most of the time let the students pick what area they wanna work on because they're trying to get time on different hair follicles, because I thought nothing was going to change I did not do a before photo of the area that was worked on. I wish I did it is Dramatically different. The student that picked that area I remember them saying they wanted to work there. This was a student, I had been to pros with lasers and still had those dots. These students are so well trained that I was shocked. So I called the school and asked could electrolysis have cleared up my skin Or was it because I was trying a new lotion. The owner of the school called me back and explain to me that in fact that is a byproduct of great attention to detail. And that i should not be putting harsh Chemicals on my skin. So I stopped, and my skin got clearer. I am so ecstatic, I did not like those dots at all. To think Of all the time and effort I had spent and now to have clear skin. This place is hands-down amazing. I'm not saying that this place will clear up your skin because you probably eat like a third grader. What I am saying is that they cleared up my skin yay.
