I think Landmark Education is either a LOVE IT or HATE IT situation. There are people I know that will agree with me, and other friends that absolutely swear by the good that Landmark does, and continues to do, for their life. What I am about to say is no different than the methods of EST, SUMMIT, LIFESPRINGS, etc. And, since it is founded by a former leader of EST - it's no surprise that it is similar in many ways. Also, if you conduct your own google search, you'll find a mix of the wonderful things they've done, as well as many legal actions filed or accusations. You'll find everything said from Brainwashing, to cruel, to harsh, to even blamed for suicide, etc etc. It's a major financial commitment to take the first course ($700/$1000), and it's a majorly intensive workshop. Lead by a brilliant orator, it's very inviting in its premise, and cleverly enticing to make changes to your life. The first night had a couple of hundred students in attendance, and a large staff of both paid and volunteers (advancing/current students). It's fun, emotional for some, and kind of exciting as stories are told of successes and lives transformed. Students, of course, at all different levels of readiness and emotions, are led voluntarily to share at the mic. Others are skeptical and reluctant, maybe shy, to open up. Day 2 gets more interesting, and unfortunately, alarming. Tactics are used to break you down. Starting with the first few people that shared openly and quickly, who were all very emotional. The leader just blasting them, yelling at them -- all very vulnerable souls. It also raises the brow for a handful of people (maybe 25%) -- that led to a feeling of brainwashing. Relentless pounding at nice people with major problems, until they would take ownership for bad things that may have happened to them in their life. It was very hard and uncomfortable to watch, and sit as either an active or passive participant. At a lunch period, several of us gathered to discuss what was happening, and we shared in the uncomfortable feelings we had. So much so, 4 of us planned to escape at a break -- knowing that we had to resort to a quick exit or be chastised or jumped on to try and talk us out of it. Day 3 was not going to get me, nor was I going to continue to witness demeaning practices against the very vulnerable. These are master manipulators for some of us, and others -- exactly the right dose of hard instruction. So in the end, it's a chance you take with any investment -- this one, for yourself. For others that I know, they love it and have advanced thru numerous other classes and instruction, certifications, and goals of leading in the future. As for me, absolutely no way. read more

I took the Landmark Forum over 10 years ago and it was truly impactful. However, after interacting with Landmark over the years I have come to the conclusion this is a highly damaging organization who preys - often with good intentions - on vulnerable people. It intentionally uses peer pressure and questionable tactics to make people spend more and more in Landmark courses; it is absolutely NOT trauma informed and can in some cases traumatize and re traumatize participants. The program will not refund you money if you have a bad experience (you might be able to get a credit to use for another course) and the staff will always push Landmark as the solution to ALL your problems. My last experience with a Landmark leader was so bad, I complained and got nowhere. It completely turned me off to this organization for life and rang a 5-fire alarm. I have studied and interacted with many self development modalities, and while there are some good things in Landmark's approach, they do not outweigh the risk of you feeling worse and ending up traumatized from taking a Landmark program. Avoid Landmark, and open up to other more gentle and trauma-informed coaching or healing modalities. There is a lot out there, whether you are looking for a group program or an individual experience. Many of the reviews here talk about "cult like" "mind control" etc. Listen, they dont press an agenda to control your mind. They press an agenda to challenge the way you have been thinking and offer a possibility of thinking / acting in a different way. NOT IN A PARTICULAR WAY. But one that's tailored to you. I reconnected w my dad who I didnt speak to in 20+ years. They didn't force me or urge me to do that. I learned a way of thinking/viewing that MOTIVATED me to do that. It can feel cult like because many people get super involved and bought into this. FOR A GOOD REASON - it CAN provide some big changes in your life. WILL IT? That's up to you. And also depends on those around you. That is why this isn't for everyone, but for the ones this IS for, it's absolutely enriching. So why am I giving it 3 stars? Towards the end you get to invite people to learn about the Forum and join. I made the biggest mistake participating in this and bringing two coworkers. They were ALREADY bought in because they saw how I opened up a business and started generating great passive income on top of my job. The landmark forum changed my life forever. I went in person in LA. So well worth the investment. It is not a cult or scam. Those reviews are from Scientologists or people who did not wish to break out if their victim story. The staff and management were phenomenal. I met amazing people of all backgrounds and cultures from all around the world. They offer a seminar following the forum and I will be doing the advanced course. It's ONE BIG PLACEBO and it's all about the $$$$ Years after I did it, I still see some of the people I did it with volunteering their time, and I'm still pissed at how the Landmark instructors try to dominate the audience and belittle them! It's literally dangerous how the instructors keep yelling "there is no way out" and "you guys are machines" and tell you your feelings and intuition mean nothing! Attended Wednesday, January 24, 2018's "bring a friend" seminar from around 7 to 10:15 pm. My friend told me about this program and I decided to go see for myself what this "life changing seminar" was all about. I'm giving this two stars because I understand what Landmark is trying to accomplish when it comes to living your life. However, I do not agree with how they present this program to you. Let me take you back to that seminar: After signing in you sit on chairs facing two chalk boards and a few TV screens. there's two mics (one on each side of the TV's). My presenter's name is Michelle and she pitches you Landmark. She tells you how she's become happier. How she's resolved deep-rooted issues with her mom, how she has a wonderful relationship with her now ex-husband. Throughout the whole night she gives more examples of how Landmark changed her life. She tells you about the "What you know. What you don't know. What you don't know, don't know." And she periodically asks you to talk to the person next to you and share with each other some of the experiences you've went through and want to change in your life. By the way, there are no real breaks until the last 30 mins or so when you have the opportunity to sign up for the course, but don't worry you can take a bathroom break at any time. Michelle asked the class to come up with their own aspirations for 2018. One person went up and said she would like to be able to talk to her parents about yadayadayda. A woman in the audience raised her hand and asked, "What if your parents are dead?" Michelle said, "You can write a letter and it's explained in the course." Fast forward to the end of the seminar and I stood up at the mic in front of like 50 people and I said, "I want the courage to be able to talk to my parents." Michelle said that I needed a date to do it by. I picked June then she picked March for me. Then she told me..."Your parents could die tomorrow. Do you really want to wait to resolve these issues with them?" I really didn't think about how Michelle answered that one woman's question before she went onto say that I NEEDED to take this course. When I said I was on the fence I'm not kidding you when I say the class started echoing: "TAKE THE CLASS. TAKE THE CLASS. TAKE THE CLASS." In my mind I thought it was pretty cult like.... At the end of the seminar Michelle came up to me and the first thing she says is, "Jennifer, let's get you signed up!" I would say about half of those who tried to get me to sign up, Michelle included, would ask me this question, "If you didn't have a past, what would your future look like?" And every time, I would say, "I'm not sure. I need to think about that." All I remember Michelle saying at the end is, and very sternly, I might add, "You are living in FEAR." And she walked away. I got a little flustered because here I am trying to be nice in saying, "no" and she can point her finger at me and say what she did. She's not wrong. I do have fear. I didn't feel safe with her or that program. I basically didn't think Landmark would take care of me. I saw and felt this pressure to do Landmark the entire seminar. Also, I don't want a leader who doesn't understand the power of empathy and compassion towards another human being. Especially one who will, in frustration or anger perhaps, yell out fear tactics to make you realize your rooted issues. I think Landmark blankets everyone using fear tactics, bullying, and peer pressure. It works for some people but it didn't work for me. Also, not everyone does Landmark because they are bullied and peer pressured into it - Some do it because they truly want to change. They want results in 3 days and 3 hours. They want a starting point, and I understand that. Good for them! I wish them nothing but the best! read more

I just finished watching the Vow on HBO, and I could not stop thinking about my previous experience with landmark. I attended this weekend course a number of years ago, by referral of a good friend who found it helpful for her. The vow truly makes me question everything that they did there, as the strategies used all see to be the same. I do remember that I left the course (on the first day) as they were using my credibility and my degree as justification for why the course was successful and that it was helping physicians (like myself), who I was a resident physician at the time. They kept wanting to know what I needed to self improve at. They split my friend and I who also joined me up and intentionally split us up because they did not want us talking to each other. They kept telling me that on a later day I would have a revelation and the good part was yet to come. When I told them I wanted to leave, they tried to shame me for it. I didn't even ask for a refund but they told me I was for sure not getting one. Agree with one of the previous reviews that said, if you are interested in what they are trying to offer you can watch the beginning of the Vow. The good is that I do not believe landmark is a sex cult, however I do not think it is designed for personal success. Stay away! read more

I attended the landmark Forum in March 2020 After hearing great things from a couple of friends. On day one we were all promised that we would have breakthroughs by the end of the weekend. At the end of each day we were told if you haven't had a breakthrough yet "just wait until tomorrow which is when everything will come together". I was honestly very disappointed with the Forum and I felt it was a bit of a brainwash and just not sustainable in everyday life. The whole weekend is very awkward and there is a lot of pressure to enroll people - a pyramid scheme at its finest! If you dare speak negative of the forum then this is portrayed as you being inauthentic or you running your racket! We were promised that "everything comes together" in Tuesday evenings session. Our Tuesday session was postponed due to COVID 19 and by the time we had the zoom call it was near worthless being on the call. I really had to hold my tongue to stop me from telling people to save their money by not doing this course. Very disappointed as I was expecting a lot more from this. There is so much information online about the landmark forum being related to a cult and how many of the teachings of Werner Erhard reflect what is being taught by scientology. I do NOT recommend Landmark. I flew from TN, woke up at 6am and drove an hour to the forum. I sat down fully open minded and ready to receive. Four hours later, nothing was revealed- it was literature read to us and repeated over and over. I was very disappointed. I decided to leave after the announcement that our break was to be filled with homework. There wasn't much to put into principle and felt much like a kindergartner being told what to do and where to sit. That's when it got really weird. I received a phone call two hours later from a "volunteer forum supervisor". She asked me why I decided to leave and I explained to her in a respectful and measured way that it simply was not for me. She argued with me about my reasons and even pulled up my admission form and asked me how I would achieve my goals without Landmark. I responded to her that it was offensive and absurd to be made to believe I should feel indebted to completing a seminar in order to achieve my personal goals. The conversation should have ended there, but she brought up my anxiety, fears and other information I had completed on my form. Every one of them she dangled in front of me to return to the forum. I told her again why I left and still she pursued my attendance. I was very polite and agreeable. I could tell this "counselor" was trained not to let up. Then, I mentioned (as 150 of us had experienced), our leader criticizing the other guest speaker's English. SEVERAL TIMES. I brought up that I thought it was inappropriate and distasteful. Only then did she inform me she would consider my refund for the program. I'm still waiting for a call back. It's really a shame how they prey off of the disheartened. There were really beautiful people in my class. What they have to say is wonderful, but the way they tie people to the program is manipulative. I took it over 20 years ago & I never would have gone to college & gotten a BA & MA if I hadn't done the Forum, Forum In Action & Advanced Course. I also started my first healthy happy relationship after that. I highly recommend it to any human being to take. I took the Forum recently & signed up to take the other ones as well. By the last class I opened communication & began healing my most pivotal relationship. I see all sorts of possibilities there now that were not happening prior. Oh forgot this - I would TRADE IN my BA & MA if I had to choose those or taking these courses! Ok so I just finished a 3 day "advanced course." What a ripoff and a colossal waste of time!!! I would have preferred to spend those 3 days at the spa, or doing yoga and meditation, or on a spiritual retreat. People, please don't waste your time and money on this!!!!!!! I became increasingly offended and disturbed by the way in which it was delivered and the way the leader treats the very people who are helping her. From the beginning, it seemed that the goal was to tire and weaken the participants in order to lower our level of resistance...the 13 hr days, the scarcity of breaks, the insistence that all participants complete assignments during their 'breaks' and after hours. The way the group leader approached the participants was bullying and aggressive..lots of humiliation. . Absolutely no critical thinking is tolerated, if anyone dares to challenge any of the ideas being put forth they are promptly subjected to humiliation in front of an audience, and "enlightened" as to how it is really their own deficiencies and their ACT that cause them to feel that way. I find it sinister that one of the behaviors the course is supposedly trying to free people from is always "trying to look good / avoid looking bad", while it was very obvious to me that they are exploiting this very tendency in order to ensure their own success. They talk about integrity, yet they lack it in all the sense of the word. Every time the leader wishes to reinforce a point it is delivered as a general question to the entire audience, with the clear expectation that no one wants to be the odd one out by not putting their hand up when everyone else does, etc. The sales pitch aspect of it all cannot be easily ignored either. One doesn't need to spend much time before realizing how determined they are to sign you up for further courses and seminars, and to pressure you into recruiting your friends and family. At the end of day two, they present you with a request that you contact people and woo them by describing the powerful transformative experience you've had, that they can't possibly live without. Ugh...and last but not least, because of the horrible woman who delivered the course, I will never recommend this bullshit to anyone. Coming out of it, I feel lucky that I am strong minded and was capable of seeing it for what it was. At the same time, I was disturbed by how easily the majority of the participants were led, and how willing they were to accept this doctrine without analysis of debate. In a nutshell, it seemed Landmark is designed to force its agenda on people in a way that is so subtle, manipulative & abusive that it can easily prey on the most vulnerable among us. They are skilled to operate as con artists inside this organization and prey on your weaknesses--your greed, irresponsibility, soft-heartedness, naiveté, fear, gullibility and co-dependency. These people are after your money. PERIOD. Bottomline: if you want to better yourself and become a better human being, put your hard earned money towards funding an orphanage, a non-profit organization or hospital, donate your time helping others, go to a spiritual retreat. Put that money for a good cause, for something you know will make a difference in the world. If you still think you need therapy, pay the $ to a skilled professional therapist not a professional con-artist who is only interested in sales and OBVIOUSLY does NOT care about your well-being or your livelihood. read more

I didn't get ANYTHING from this forum. We sat in a cold room with uncomfortable chairs for 3 days being yelled at and basically told we were stupid by the forum leader. This "education" helped in NO WAY. I've been trying to get a refund for over a month now and the refund department has just been giving me the run around. This program, in my opinion, IS NOT worth what they charge. And you have to keep paying $665 or more to continue with this "education". They keep pressing you about inviting friends and family which is considered "homework" but is actually just free recruiting for the company. My thing was, how the hell do I tell people about something I don't even get myself?! Impossible! I didn't even learn anything new. I just want my money back. I had a very distressing and disappointing experience at a Landmark Forum weekend course in Los Angeles. I am still upset about what transpired. One of the most depressing things about the course I attended was the manner in which the coaches condone physical and psychological violence, rationalize it away, and actually encourage traumatized and deeply hurt individuals to return to the people who hurt them so they can be hurt again. For example, I heard our coach, William, tell a woman who was still suffering from the trauma of being raped, that she needed to contact her rapist and tell him that she forgave him. It gets worse. There was a young man at the Forum who had witnessed his father beat up his mother and threaten to kill her. Later, the father beat up this boy and his brother too. The coach's appalling advice? He told the boy to call his father and forgive him. Then he said (I'm paraphrasing her, but this is very close to his actual words): "You have to remember that perceptions of violence are different in different countries. For example, in Africa, it's acceptable for a neighbor to beat up a misbehaving child, and then for the father to beat up the child, too." Seriously? In Africa? Which country in Africa specifically? Or (as seems more likely) did the coach just pull this rather racist and utterly irrelevant example out of his nether regions? Even if it were true, how does this nasty little nugget of moral relativism help this young man who lives in LA, and not in Africa? How will it help him overcome his trauma to be told that other children face far worse and, besides, if you just tell this criminally abusive father that you love him, everything will magically be okay? It gets still worse. The coach then stated that he beat up his own son! But it was okay, he said, because he later apologized. I'd like to ask this godawful coach's son if HE thinks it's okay! In what moral universe is this kind of "teaching" acceptable? When I went to the microphone to say that beating children is never morally excusable, the coach tried to manipulate me psychologically by asking me if I have any children of my own. I do not, but what possible difference could that make? I don't have a puppy, either, but I know that it is never morally acceptable to beat a puppy! Needless to say, when I described my own painful childhood (my mother beat, berated and humiliated me every day) the coach was dismissive of my painful memories and repeated the same depressing formula: Call my mother, forgive her, and tell her that I love her. Perhaps this technique would work with a mother who was reasonable and suffering from remorse about having beaten her child on one or two occasions. But my mother has narcissistic personality disorder and other forms of mental illness and possesses no remorse, no conscience and certainly no empathy. Dealing with a person such as my mother requires the efforts of a trained psychologist, certainly not a "coach" whose primary interest is to get me to sign up for more sessions of moral relativism, guilt-mongering and manipulation! After two days of witnessing miserably unhappy people receive miserably inapt advice from a miserably unqualified salesman pretending to be a psychologist, I made up my mind that, for the sake of my mental health, the very best thing I could do would be not to show up for Day Three. My conclusions about Landmark are two-fold: First, that it makes strong people depressed, and weak people weaker. And second, that Landmark's formula is to make upset and traumatized people even more upset and traumatized, charge them a lot of money for this privilege, and then, in their weakened and vulnerable state, begin as soon as Day Two to pressure them into signing up for more courses and paying still more money to "help" them recover from the depression that Landmark itself exacerbated! I can say that the Landmark Forum weekend was the most awful weekend of my adult life and served only to bring back memories of how my mother once broke my nose and then, years later, denied it ever happened, literally adding insult to injury. The Landmark course did something very similar: It assaulted my common sense and dignity and then, when I objected, told me that it was my fault for not wanting to call my mother and forgive her, my fault for not coming for Day Three (when the hard-sell really kicks in), and my fault for not signing up for future Landmark ordeals. The Landmark course was worse than a complete failure, in the sense that not only didn't it help me, it made me feel far, far worse. I want my money back. read more

I wish I could give ZERO stars. Pleaseeeee Stay away! I took the course in January and there were some very great concepts but it's not worth it unless you want your mental wellbeing to be at stake! They will constantly try and get more money out of you and get you to recruit others. If your guests/friends/family don't sign up they verbally attack you. I invited two people and immediately regretted it! Jerry, my forum leader, harassed my friend, my sister and myself (because I wasn't able to "enroll" them) He took the registration paper out of my friends hand and started asking for her info and card number because " she needed to take it" even though she repeatedly said she needed to speak with her husband first before making a purchase. We all left feeling disgusted and I felt so used. I was ashamed at the behavior during this event. To top it off my card was charge over $700 for an advanced course after I said I was not interested in continuing on with them. I'm still receiving phone calls and emails from them today! I wasn't going to write a review but I'm tired of being harassed by this company. As long as you're paying and not asking questions they are happy. Please! Leave Me Alone! I went to The Landmark Forum because it was recommended by a business that I very much respect. After completing it, I liked some of the insights given, but left feeling extremely disappointed even after having done EVERY invitation given to me at the forum. I truly participated whole-heartedly. The thing that literally gave me a sinking feeling in my stomach was at the end when they explain that as humans we need to stop making "decisions" (which are based on considerations) and start making "choices" (which are made after we let go of all of our considerations/excuses). Why would we make a choice without a reason behind it? They made me feel like considering consequences was a bad thing, because they said to let go of reasons, labeling them as "excuses". They don't expound much on this at all before they start advertising the choice of enrolling into their advanced courses. That's "what happened", nothing else. "Life" or "what happened" after that is I didn't feel happy after the Forum, I didn't enroll in the advanced course and I didn't recommend Landmark to anyone. I chose not to because I chose not to. When I tell anyone at Landmark this, they start making up stories that I didn't get it or do the Forum. That's their interpretation and racket, not mine. If they were a real company that stood by their word, they would give refunds to dissatisfied customers. I am one of them that hope this company had integrity to do that, because it's the right thing to do to honor promises. read more

Here is the honest truth I did the 3 major programs: Forum, Advanced and the SELP (self expression leadership program) and i even attended a seminar series on Integrity. The programs are good. Especially the Forum. If you are someone who's lost or looking to recharge or refresh your life i think the Forum is 100% for you. The advanced is also great because it encompasses the people around you & how you affect them. Here's the thing I look at landmark in laments terms as a compacted group therapy session. It's definitely helpful & they provide a lot of useful tools & distinctions to help you in life. However... I can 1000% see why people think it's cult-like or too pushy or too salesy. They spend A LOT of unnecessary time on trying to get you to bring other people and get them to sign up. They also have a center that will literally call you as many times to see if your willing to host it in your own home to get people to go. I had repeatedly communicated with them that i had no interest in bringing anyone or hosting it in my home and that i didn't appreciate how they kept calling me because it made me feel like i wasn't being heard. They kept calling. It just goes to show they have their own agenda & even though i do think parts of the curriculum is great. I later found out from one of their own leaders that the person who developed the entire landmark program took a lot of it from Scientology! So funny. Either way i don't regret doing it. I learned a lot & i feel bad for the people who stay because they've clearly drank too much of the "cool-aid" & in turn lost themselves. On the other hand I've seen some transform into much better versions of themselves so it really goes both ways. I completely see why there is a stigma about taking landmark. You'll notice that they consistently answer you with "I get that" when you tell them something or have any objections. That's their robotic response system that makes you feel like they are listening when really they're about their own agenda. I think some of the core ideas of their program are something everyone should learn. But again you can learn a lot of those ideas through therapy. Landmark just may be cheaper for you. Either way i always say you get what you pay for & cheap isn't good & good isn't cheap so landmark can be a great jumping off point but just BEWARE if you enroll & go into the program for the long term. Also they have a lot of volunteers who try to help you but these people are entirely NOT qualified to be doing so. It's a smart business tactic to have volunteers that way you don't have to pay them, however you have volunteers trying to guide people who have zero capability & it's like the blind leading the blind. If i could do it all over again I would still do it all the same because i did gain good things out of it even though i will never go back. read more

I did the Landmark Forum 30 years ago, I was 27. At the time I had recently graduated college and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. What I got from the Forum gave me access to create a life I love, which I have. When I was 8, there was a TV show called Hogan's Heros. It's a comedy about prisoners in a German concentration camp. Ya, that doesn't sound like a comedy, but trust me, it is. Anyway, the prisoners dug this underground room where they held their secret meetings. I loved it so much, I became determined to dig my own. I went into my backyard and began digging. As I dug I dreamed about all the great things I would do in my underground room. A couple of hours went by and I was about knee deep. It was too hard, so I gave up. What I didn't know that I didn't know, that I discovered in the Forum, was in that moment I quit, I made a decision about myself. Well, it was more like a realization. What I realized is that I didn't have what it takes to do it. So, at 27 sitting in the Forum, in those not so comfortable chairs, I suddenly got that I decided that I didn't have what it takes. This wasn't a casual decision or one I was even conscious I had made. It was more like I realized was who I was was someone who doesn't have what it takes, like an immutable characteristic. That decision shapped my life. In high school I was the QB for the B football team, until I quite right after pre season. I didn't have what it takes. When I went to college at University of Oregon (go Ducks!), I quit after five quarters. I didn't have what it takes. After a year off I went back to college at the University of California Santa Barbara and studied theater and graduated with a BFA in Acting. I moved back to LA only to stop pursuing acting after about a year. I didn't have what it takes. I got engaged to my college girlfriend only to break it off after a few months. I didn't have what it takes. What I saw was that all of that was driven by my decision, I didn't have what it takes. It blew my mind. What came with this discovery was a profound sense of freedom. It was like an invisible vail was there was lifted. Within about two years of doing the Forum, I was engaged to be married and starting law school. I even passed the bar on my first try. And that is just the beginning. Today, 30 years later, I love my life. That's not to say there haven't been challenges, but with each challenge I use the tools (called distinctions) to handle them, and every time I'm left with a bigger more fulfilling life. Today, I have a law practice, I own a coffee house and a legal document preparation business, I am on my second amazing marriage (the ending of my first marriage was one of those challenges), and I have even started acting again (I've been in 8 plays in the past two years). I will never know what my life would have been like had I not done the Forum, but what I do know for sure, is that I use what I've learned from Landmark everyday and my life is amazing. For me the Forum wasn't a one in done. For 30 years I have continued to participate with Landmark and my life continues to expand. I'd be crazy not to keep participating. Like anything you master in life, it takes constant training. I've often thought that you don't need to know math to get by in life, but I'm really glad I know it because it gives me access to doing things I couldn't otherwise do. And you certainly don't need the Landmark Forum to get by in life, but I'm really glad I did because it gives me access to living a life I love. And I can tell you with 100% certainty that after a while you won't be left with (or even talking about) what the chairs feel like or how long the days are or even how much it cost. What you will left with is a life you created and a life you love. So my two cents, do the Landmark Forum. read more

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! I was coerced, pressured, harrased by Antonia Limon from this Landmark organization to attend. Even after cancellation was supposed to credit back to my account, it was reversed, then again charged back to me. I have called and emailed, as of today, I am in their reoccuring $200.00 fee nightmare! I had to file a police report with our local authority, hopefully this Landmark organization will cease from these repeat charges occuring on my account. UPDATED 11/17/2014: Spoke to Alyssa B from Landmark, refund promise on 11/11/2014. As of today 11/17/2014 still NO refund. Now seeking legal advice from my attorney. One of my closest friends recently recommended me to attend Landmark because of its "empowering conversations" Unfortunately, I was strongly disappointed. On the first day of the forum, the leader of the forum, Jenn, talked about, what she says, 5% of the information we will be learning for the next three days for seven hours, and according to her, "The first day is the hardest day, it gets easier after!" My question is, how is it the hardest day if we only learn 5% of the information we will be learning in total? In addition, she was EXTREMELY rude, to the people working and attending the forum. She would constantly roll her eyes at simple mistakes, and discourage you that, "You aren't participating." Secondly, if you weren't giving them what they wanted, which was of course loads of personal information about yourself, you were called either "fake" or "breaking your promise of the forum" This makes me laugh. I left after the first day, I couldn't handle sitting in a chair for seven hours listening to other people's problems, in which 95% of the problems were about having a bad relationship with their sibling. All in all, let me tell you what you're getting, you sit in a chair for seven hours, listening to a white housewife give you advice, for $600. I left after the first day, they promised me a refund, but according to some of the reviews seen I have read, they did not give people refunds, but instead they made them feel terrible about themselves. If you're the type of person that likes paying $600 to sit in a chair for seven dollars, then this is the place for you. Have fun! read more

I took the Forum in 2008, I believe, then completed a whole slew of other courses- the full Curriculum for Living (Forum, Advanced Course, Self-Expression and Leadership Program), 2 Communication Courses, a handful of seminars, and even continued by coaching the Self-Expression and Leadership Program! I then decided to go further and start leading courses, so I took the required Introduction Leaders Program (ILP). I will say that my life changed completely through the Forum and every other full course I did or coached. I learned skills and approaches that have served me throughout my life since then, and many things shifted for me. Lots of positive results. However, the seminars were mostly a waste of time. They're essentially remedial, weaker versions of the Forum, and almost nothing happens in each session. They're like a church club, where all attendees have something in common and have an excuse to meet once a week and talk about their problems. Sure, it's cheaper than therapy, but not my cup of tea. Then there's the ILP. The further I got into this 6-7 month course (and the more required volunteer hours I put in at the office- though we're told to not call it "volunteering", we are telemarketing for Landmark for free and being evaluated on the number of conversions we make), the more I saw behind the curtain. Basically, my experience comes down to this: the Landmark Forum is like Nike Air Jordans. It's a product that is great for its purpose, isn't necessarily for everyone (hey, you might like Adidas instead if they fit you better), but is ultimately made on the backs of people who legitimately suffer during that process and are not paid fair wages. I'm talking about the office staff, not the volunteers. Anyway, I eventually removed myself from all contact lists during the ILP except those directly related to my course, but this request was ignored dozens of times. I emailed, called, and asked in person to have my name and number removed, but I got so many calls still that I ended up filing not one but THREE official reports with the FCC. And yes, I finished the course- though this time, the only thing I got out of the course was a huge reality check and a large dose of disillusionment. So- can one ethically keep buying or recommending Air Jordans knowing both their source and their potential results? Not sure. Take what you will from this. I personally haven't been back. read more

I just spent all day yesterday (13hrs) and must have been in the same class with Brittany H. 100% agree with her and the leader criticizing the fellow presenter on his English skills. This is totally unprofessional and rude especially in front of 150 people. Here are a few of my observations: Its a cash cow. 150 people x $695 = $104,250. Thats quite a profit for the weekend. I had to chuckle when they said you can get coffee and snacks outside the room....from a vending machine and charge. Come on guys spend a few hundred dollars on snacks at Costco! For some this forum may work if you have some issues with work, family, life, etc. Personally I can't relate to anything I heard in the entire day. For me it just did not work and as the day went into the evening things became less and less relatable. The final straw for me was at the end of the evening when the leader had everybody close their eyes and think of something that bothered them (backache, necklace, tiredness, etc) By thinking about it and doing the mental exercise it was to go away....yes really! What a joke I could go on and on about some of the things a heard and how uncomfortable I was when they were digging deep into personal issue such as abuse, molestation, etc that people were sharing in an open Forum and the leader who has no formal training is coaching them and in 15 minutes all is ok. I am down right worried for some people. The Forum leader Jerry really should be on Broadway (he was in a former life) I think he lives to be on stage and this is definitely his stage in his life these days. Funny at times but also very condescending and loves to put people down. He kept repeating how "stupid" you would be if you don't come back...I am sorry its not a one size fits all for some such as myself its just not a fit and no hard feelings. Lets not keep calling people stupid. They love to knock you down All I kept hearing is you will only get 5% the first day...yes because its a trick. After 13 hrs 5%?! They want you to keep going in circles so that way on Sunday evening you will get it all and then its too late for anything since its already over. Such a great business move I spoke this morning to one of the leaders and just simply said it was not for me and they of course want to turn it back on you. All word games. I asked for a refund on 2/3 (willing to pay for the day I did) and of course she then starts with that I signed the paperwork at registration that there are no refunds, etc. Now they want to hide behind that and keep my money. Notice how they take all the money up front that should be a red flag. read more

The Landmark Forum had an amazing impact on my life... from financial freedom to the most incredible romantic relationship I've ever experienced.. to learning how to make a real difference with the people I care about most. And all of that for a simple three-day weekend??!! I thought it wasn't possible, I had simply given up on relationships. I thought I just was meant to be single until I died. Really. You get a 4 day seminar and 10 seminar classes for free along with The Forum seminar. For what you get the price is with it. I now have a relationship with my family and friends that I haven't spoken to in years. I started a new company and I realized that an attack on me didn't define me. Terrible experience. Things started out positively then took a nosedive. I was told to leave after i shared that I believe it's possible to live a happy life free of "rackets" and "winning formulas." The facilitator didnt like this take on things at all. Basically he insisted that part of the human condition is ALWAYS "running rackets" and "relying on winning formulas" which is their terminology for wearing inauthentic masks. How depressing! Maybe they insist on portraying people as "sick" so they can keep charging them to get "well?" Not exactly sure but I've been meditating and practicing yoga for 25+ years and know from experience this sort of state of well being can be achieved and maintained for at least some stretches of time. Thank goodness! The woman who asked me to leave tried to explain things by saying Landmark is a secular org and what i was sharing was too spiritual for the space and therefore disruptive. I was truly surprised by this! Especially since i delivered my "share" and responded to the facilitator's questions in what i thought/felt was an open-minded, open-hearted way. Not argumentative - even though i felt like i was being browbeaten. I noticed the participants that came after me were treated in a similar way and seemed equally confused so i didnt take it personally. Maybe my share was threatening because Landmark has been called a cult so they're hypersensitive to spiritual concepts being voiced because they could be portrayed that way? The same rep with the spiritual vs secular explanation said she would call and issue a refund for the program today. No call ever came. Talk about lack of integrity. While it was embarrassing and confusing to be asked to leave, I bounced back fairly quickly but I'm concerned about how an experience like this might impact those less resilient. I went in the spirit of wellness but could tell from the "shares" i heard that many people go because they are deeply troubled. This type of negative experience could be traumatic for someone with a fragile mindset. So even though writing this feedback wont prevent the yucky experience i had, i hope it saves others from being drug through the mud unnecessarily. So i cannot recommend this program. But if you really, really want to pay to be browbeaten and possibly kicked out for sharing something positive and then be forced to chase around a refund for a workshop you were prevented from finishing -- GO FOR IT!!! read more

I just finished a 10 week sesión series entitled "commitments" it was held by Patricia Rhamini. She was pretty outstanding in delivering the tools. I really got how my commitments live in my language and in my language exist measurable results along side integrity When integrity is lacking there are no results to show for and therefore, I go back and clean up, restore integrity and get back on the court again I always associated being in integrity with a burden now I look forward to being in integrity and when I'm not I look forward to cleaning up and getting back on the court without shame or regrets read more

I attended a meeting intended to recruit people but didn't get it AT ALL. The aggressive attitude and arrogance of the members who run around challenging those who did not sign up was very cult like as if the only way to success and joy in life is their way. My partner did sign up to my wonderment (did he have a secret stash of mad money?) as his sister is the one who invited us to check it out but he did not benefit at all . We really couldn't afford the 600- plus dollars for the weekend course and I really resent the sales pressure applied by all the volunteer members well trained by the way in attempting to convince you that your life sucks until you enroll. They practically guarantee your income will skyrocket after the course. I told him he should get his money back as things went downhill afterward and not improving. read more
