The Officers' Club is extremely nice, especially for those who are luckily enough to get inside. The dining hall in the club had such a beautiful view of the lake. The location of Ft. Belvoir is great seeing that it is close to Washington, without being in D.C. and all of the officers' houses here are beautiful (Lt Col, Col, BG, MG, LTG, Gen). The only issue with this base is that it is extremely easy to get lost as they close the 2nd gate in the afternoon and only the main gate is open and it is hard to get back there as all the streets loop around in circles. When visiting this base, be extremely cautious of your speed, as you will be yelled at by the MP's for driving without your headlights during the day, or for even going 1 mile over the speed limit. We have a brand new exchange, they just finished building a brand new school, one of the top 3 largest commissaries in all of the military is being built and almost ready to open. The hospital on base is also Brand new with amazing teams of doctors. Housing on base offers very spacious homes. They look newer and are pretty nice. Almost every house on base comes with a garage and fenced in yard. The location of the base is only about 20 minutes from DC. It really allows someone to live in a rural area but 20 minutes down the road experience the city life. My only complaint about this area is the traffic. Remember we live in northern Virginia/DC area therefore the traffic can be unpredictable and crazy at times.
