What a rude and unprofessional post office. Employees talk trash about customers loud in the lobby where everyone can hear. Meanwhile they chat with each other and mess around and laugh when there's a line out the door of people waiting for service. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised by my experiences at the USPS Yucca Valley station! Every time I've gone, the line has moved quickly, despite only two or three windows operating, and at least one of the windows being occupied by someone trying to wrap their head around the fact that the mail won't be delivered to their doorstep when they live 10 miles off any paved road in the middle of the Mojave desert, without street signs or road maintenance, instead of thanking the workers for not throwing away or returning the packages with no valid address (which happens at a lot of locations). At least that provides extra entertainment while I wait my turn... The postal workers have always been super friendly and helpful, and the other patrons have always been friendly and courteous as well. Easy in; easy out! If you do live in one of those iffy no man's lands and your mail service is questionable or nonexistent, this office has P.O. boxes too (I believe it's around $250 for the year). There are other mailbox providers in town that USPS recognizes as valid addresses, so that's another option. Everything else is pretty standard for a post office, other than the fact that this one actually keeps their Priority Mail supplies and customs forms, etc. fully stocked - woohoo!! read more

Yucca Valley post office can not be trusted to deliver! find another way to have things delivered to you! I ordered a memory foam mattress from eBay that somebody supposedly tried to deliver this on 12/24/2023 and even though I was home they never delivered or even knocked, so after going on line to make arrangements for a delivery on Wednesday Dec 27. 2023, but found out that on the 26th somebody had picked up my package from this post office I do not know anybody here at all, so somebody had the tracking number my question is who and how? and what is wrong with this nasty post office? truly something is very very very wrong indeed!!! read more

There's no question running and managing a post office can be a challenging and sometimes thankless job. Usually the issues are out of the staff's control - not enough attendees, over-crowded facilities, etc. And sometimes it's because the people are so worn out it seems like they just don't care. But I want to commend the Yucca Valley post office and its staff because in my experience they do everything they can to support, communicate, and provide the best service possible to customers. I've found the people there to be friendly, helpful, and willing to try to explain event things that just aren't terribly explainable. That's not easy. It's not typical. And I want them to know that it matters, and their efforts are valued. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The employees are rude and inept, there's always a long line, and there's always an issue with my mail. I placed a hold on my mail while I was out of town for work and they ended it over a week earlier than I had asked them to, which resulted in mail being stolen and important, time-sensitive packages being returned to senders. The employees always assume that you know every detail of every obscure policy, and as someone who recently moved from the city to this rural desert town I'm still not familiar with how things are run out here, but does it seem ridiculous to anyone else that if you don't pick up your mail for three days they consider your house abandoned? read more

Time and again my experience dealing with the Yucca Valley PO has been a nightmare, but this last incident may take the cake. I decided to give up my PO box in Landers and switch back to my lockable mailbox. A couple of years ago, someone ran into the carrier when the mailboxes were set directly on the main road, and the PO moved the location of the mailboxes to a side street. I decided to get a PO box instead because so much mail gets stolen out here plus I was going through health issues that made dealing with this very difficult. I kept that PO box for about 3 years. With the third price increase, I decided to give it up. I had to travel back east to deal with elderly parents and put in a change of address and vacation hold. After coming back, I was told that every single package and piece of mail was returned because I hadn't set up my mailbox on the road yet. A friend offered to help when I returned, and the hold doesn't expire for another week because I'm flying out again. Never once was I told this would be a problem, there was no indication through the email notification system or by the clerk when I did these transactions that there would be an issue. This would not cause the carrier any problems since the mailbox would be installed by the time the hold was over. But here's the kicker...when I went to the YV PO and asked about my mail, not only was I given this news, I was told I had gone to the Landers PO a few days ago and had some kind of argument AND that I kept trying to put my mail on hold without having a PO Box or mailbox...except I was not in town, and because of the airline tickets I have literal receipts these bizarre accusations are false. I had the PO box for years, so there would be no reason for me to try to put my mail on hold unless I was out of town. The YV manager asked me if someone else used my mailbox - the answer is no, your carrier is just lying. I worked for a government agency for years, and if we had shown the kind of disrespect and disregard for common courtesy the people at this PO show, we would have been called on the carpet and probably written up. I always thought it was important to SAVE the USPS before having to deal with YUCCA VALLEY. Now I think that FED EX and UPS deserve to stay in business and the YUCCA VALLEY POST OFFICE could disappear and there would be a nice piece of real estate on which to build a business employing people who CARE. The office clerks are generally competent and try their best to deal with the SLACKER mail carriers who don't see why it's their job to do anything ...(I believe this comes from the anonymous post master whose name seems to be permanently unavailable.). oh delivering mail is a "courtesy" not something they HAVE to Do. There are regularly lines out the door because the carriers return packages undelivered and then make NO FURTHER ATTEMPT to deliver. A particularly miserable woman with a Russian type accent screamed at me that I SHOULD KNOW how long they keep A package before returning it. She was terrifying. Amazons biggest complaint comes from customers BEGGING them Not to send packages via USPS because they are inevitably NOT delivered, lost, stolen and well, incompetence and laziness rules the day over there and nobody knows this better than Amazon. Worst part office ever if you don't pick up your mail every few days they send it back to the sender even if you have a hold on your mail.

Why is our mail often delivered after 6:00 pm in Sky Harbor and every now and then, not at all? Two of our outgoing invoices never reached their destination last month and that happens often. We have had properly addressed items show up a year later. Where do they go? I've read that the USPS wants another substantial increase in postage? The postage goes up and the service gets worse!!!!! read more

The counter clerks in the Post Office (which is in fact NOT a government office, rather a subsidized private enterprise) are hugely pleasant, almost to a fault - maybe they are trying to make up for the delivery problems. Today, I was sitting right near my front door packaging an item I sold on eBay and about to drive to the Post Office to ship it. A loud thud hit my front door a little after 12:00 noon and I was afraid to go out. I mustered the courage and found my package of 800 labels I use for my bakery business lying askew against the front door. The package was twisted as if the deliverer had tried to twist it into my mail box, then walked up to my door and THREW IT AT THE FRONT DOOR in frustration at not being able to twist the firm, heavy object into the mail box. I gave the supplier of my labels a RAVE review, because a downright malicious treatment of my mail still was unable to damage their superior packaging. It is about time that some sort of authority that the Post Office must respect, intervenes to correct outright abuses of the Yucca Valley deliverers and the attitude Rick has when residents of our happy country community legitimately complain. read more

GOIN' POSTAL... About two months ago I opened the mailbox and saw a large stack of mail unlike the 1 or two letters I receive every few days. I handle most of my bills and so forth online and electronically therefore, I rarely have mail. Some of the envelopes were large-sized, white, catalog envelopes (9 X 12). I pulled out the stack and saw the name and realized at that point that all of these letters, approximately 10 - 12 pieces, belonged to my next door neighbors; an elderly couple from another country. Some pieces of mail were for her and some for her husband. They have a distinctively different last name than mine and of course their first names as well. They didn't know me at the time and I knew the wife didn't speak English but she's very kind. My cat had escaped once and was hiding on her porch and I was out calling and calling for him (Note to self, NEVER name your cat Brother) and she came over and hailed me to come into her backyard where he was hiding out. She's a sweetheart. At that point I had to walk over to her front door, knock and try to explain to her as to why I was holding all of her mail, much of which were from government agencies. Remember she doesn't speak English. Thankfully, her husband does. That was uncomfortable and awkward. I found it peculiar enough to alert the postmaster at the post office. That may very well have proven a serious mistake for me. I have Netflix, both streaming and their DVD plan. The postman stopped picking up my return DVD on the days when I didn't have mail which is often. The Red mailbox flag faces him as he comes up the street so he clearly had to have seen it. After the third time in a row that he didn't pick up my Netflix DVD, I called the postmaster back and relayed this to him. The postmaster was upset about this issue and repeatedly assured me that he would see to it that my movies are picked up at all times. My movie was picked up that day. The following day I received my next movie. The following day the postman picked up the movie and everything was back on track and flowing smoothly. Until... Here's the letter I received from Netflix today: Problem with Your Recent Return Dear Natalie, We received an empty white sleeve in your recent return. If you haven't already sent back the disc you intended to return, please include it with your next return along with a note including your name and email address so we can match the disc to your account. _____________________________ I never put the movie in the mailbox until around the time the mailman is due. I live on a busy street. A thief isn't going to stand on a busy street in front of my house, meticulously opening the BRIGHT RED Netflix envelope, while carefully removing the Blu Ray DVD from the white sleeve, then placing the white sleeve back in the envelope, resealing it and inserting it back into my mailbox. It now makes me wonder if the elderly couple next door had angered him to start with, hence all their extremely important (immigration and social security), mail winding up in my mail box. He's a seasoned employee, been there a long time with no previous issue. He retires in 2 to 3 years. Now I have to ask Netflix how much the will charge me for that blu ray movie and cancel the DVD's. I'm not too bothered by this or upset at all -- I just find it so peculiar and strange and even creepy. I've put the mailman on my prayer list. read more

Working in a Post Office has got to be a hard job. I completely understand not wanting to help customers at work if you're having a terrible day. However, time and time again, I receive outstandingly horrible customer service here. Most of the employees are chipper and helpful, but there are a few bad seeds here that seem to be working most of the time. Instead of helping me with my packages when nobody else is in the Post Office, they doodle around on their smart phones and ignore me for a while until they feel like helping me. Then, when I am finally helped in the madness of the empty post office, I get completely ignored, shunned, like I'm some sort of freak asshole. DAMN LADY - I just want to send my packages! Kill 'em with kindness has always been my motto, but that doesn't seem to phase the rude employees that work here. Go to the Joshua Tree Post Office for the friendly folks! read more

The employees are always nice but as far as the mail process goes, it's terrible. The whole Postal Service is terrible. I've recently had a wedding and can say over 50% of our letters and packages were ripped, torn, and even in two pieces. Packages that were damaged have had items that were lost due to the holes. Some even look like Man Made holes. I would believe that workers would even open them up just because they don't have insurance and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it. The transporters seem to not care, stuffing huge boxes into mailboxes that clearly doesn't fit in. I'm going to start using FedEx or UPS. They seem to have better results. read more

Yucca Valley Post Office Every time I go to this post office someone is squabbling with the counter help people. Well today it was me. A couple of years ago i bought a stamp after hours at the post office. The OC post office offers a scale that weighs and then you purchase equivalent stamp. Well I accidentally bought a 44 cent standard stamp in addition to what i needed that night. So I finally get around to using this old stamp but with the idea I must pay more since rate hikes. But Yucca Valley Post Office says no you can't use the stamp because it has a date on it. So I debate, I never used the stamp, but they say too bad you needed to use it that day or no longer valid. So I said well charge me again then, but this seems like an unfair policy, they clearly could care less about that and just ignored fact that this is rip off. Yet another scheme by this dinosaur service provider to charge for no service. Not sure if this is true or if the Yucca Valley Post Office counter help just makes up these things that cause ppl to constantly have to debate with the counter help at this post office. read more

I am overwhelmingly frustrated. I cannot even count the times that my packages have been delivered to some other address than my own. Currently, I'm waiting for a callback from customer service that stated it would be over an hour wait time. I received an email saying my package was delivered, but once again my mailbox/front porch are empty. Also, I'm constantly receiving mail that is not mine. I will put the mail back in my mailbox with a note that it was delivered to the wrong address. Unfortunately, my mail and packages are not returned, causing me the hassle of having to file a claim, wait for an investigation to be completed, and having to request a redelivery of my packages. I have even had my mail man stop me to ask if he accidentally left a package at my house by mistake. Very unorganized, unreliable, and unprofessional. I wish I could request all my packages be delivered via UPS or Fedex. read more

Michael at the front desk is alway pleasant. I've been in and out of this post office for the past 5 years shipping packages, picking up mail, and I used to have a p.o box, at this post office and I've always been satisfied with the service. One time I called because my tracking number said the package was out for delivery but it never showed up. I called and left a message with Michael, when he called me back he was very patient and explained thoroughly to me what the problem was. My mail usually shows up between 1:30-2 everyday. The Yucca Valley Post Office is horrible. I constantly have other peoples mail in my box which only makes me think others are getting mine. I have sent out several pieces of mail certified, and they still lost it. I mailed out 2 checks on the same day BOTH were not received a Month later and they are important checks. So thanks to the incompetent workers I get to pay $60.00 to my bank for stop payment fees. This is the third time I've had to put a stop payment on my checks because of the Post Office. Get your shit together man. Screw the Post office, I'll use Fedex or UPS from now on. read more

This post office has the most incompetent staff I've ever had to deal with. I was expecting a package that said was delivered yet did not receive at my home. I went in to the post office to figure out what happened. Gave the clerk my info and was told someone would contact me that day. Never heard back from anyone. Called back again the same day and talked to the same clerk who didn't even remember me or my situation and again said someone would call, they never did. Called the next day, as they still have not contacted me, and talked to the supervisor. He told me the package was delivered and that was that. Was rude and not apologetic at all that I did not receive it, or try to help in any way to figure out what happened to it. It seemed like all he wanted to do was argue with me. If I could give this place no stars I would. I will be filing a formal complaint about this. read more

It is almost 8 pm and the mail has still not been delivered!! I also had priority packages scheduled to be picked up and here they still sit! I have called the post office, and have received no answer! The mail has been delivered very late, after dark, many times in the past 2 months. Two days ago my mail was delivered, BUT my outgoing mail in my box was just left! I have had pickups scheduled, and the carrier has just ignored the packages. This is ridiculous! The delivery person, Tom, that comes to my home is wonderful. He is very courteous and really ensures that my mail is safe. There is a male that I spoke to at the post-office however that was rude. There was something that I needed to verify and I had to really push to verify what I needed. When we finished speaking, I thanked him greatly because to verify what I needed was taking a extra step out of what he typically does. After me thanking him he said nothing and hung up on me. I am in the job of customer service and sometimes to do my job you have to go that extra mile. I appreciated that I got what I needed verified because it involved the delivery of an expensive product. However his rudeness at the end was very disappointing and to me reflected his true nature.
