The screen on my Macbook has been giving me problems for a few weeks, so I called and then went in to Computer Zone. The gentleman I spoke with knew immediately what my computer's problem was, and instead of saying that he could/would fix it suggested that I continue using the computer as long as I could, then purchase a new (refurbished) Mac through Amazon. He did not charge me for the visit, and I really appreciated his suggestion. I will definitely go back there if I run into problems with my tech items in the future. read more

Interesting how you can reply to a review at 10 o'clock at night but not respond to a call! Pretty sure all these reviews are bought, or family/ friends but not real! Notice how a lot have 5 stars and just say "good service" NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BEAT UP PLACE. I kindly called the General manager to ask if he can get in contact with Larry because I was told to call him at any time to come pick up my phone. I drove 20 minutes to this establishment just to be told I was lied to and wasted my time, when I specifically asked Larry what time do you close so I can arrange my arrival. This place needs some organization. Came to pick up my computer, diagnosed with a dead mobo, first they couldn't find my side panel and it was given to me disassembled with parts strewn about the case. Someone there noticed and asked me to come back later when they could locate the panel. I came back later, couldn't find the screws to my panel. The parts were nicely packaged though. Upon visually inspecting my computer parts while trying to rebuild it on a new mobo, I noticed the disk drive SATA power connection was ruined by someone not plugging it in correctly. I can say for 100% it was not me and that the disk drive was working properly and not damaged before dropping the computer off there to be diagnosed for repair. Frustrating experience to say the least. read more

I've been taking my computers to Computer Zone for 14 years and Larry and his staff are always knowledgable, and honest in their estimates and final price. If theres a way Larry can save me money with my repairs, he does it. Prices are reasonable and I always have my computer back when I need it. One star review, zero stars if possible. I will not write my opinion because i think it takes away from the review, so i am just going to explain what happened. I had booked the computer zone for a uhaul pod to be delivered to my house. I booked online through Uhaul's website about 3 weeks prior to needing their services. The day came for my pod to be delivered, and I still had not heard from anyone at the computer zone. I wasn't entirely worried because I looked online and there was my reservation: Uhaul pod delivery scheduled for 4/3 at noon. Well, I decided to call myself the morning of just to confirm. I spoke to Larry and he had no idea that I had made a reservation, and stated that it must have "double booked" somehow, as he was going to a job in Yucca Valley later that day. However, he told me that he would call Uhaul and see if they could get the pod ready and maybe he could work something out. As the day progressed though, it looked like he wouldn't be able to get my pod delivered that day. He promised me that he would deliver the pod first thing in the morning (4/4). That was ok with me, as my husband and I had taken off both days to unload and unpack the pod. So, a minor inconvenience but we were ok with it. At 7:45pm that night, i received an automated email. "Moving help has been cancelled." After speaking with Larry on the phone 3 times that day, and him assuring me that my pod would be delivered, this is what I get. No explanation, No phone call, nothing. So, I'm sure you can guess my opinion. Maybe they should just stick to computers. read more

Larry left my home about 30 minutes ago. He arrived promptly. He arrived professionally groomed and attired. His demeanor was pleasant, candid, and professional. I'm halfway technically savvy, and knew that the challenge for which he was hired likely would require a simple, easy fix. However, I know that arriving at that "simple, easy fix" is attained only through the efforts by someone who paid, through education, practice, trial, and error. That said, I was prepared to pay the same for a 5 minute fix or a 30+ minute fix... whatever was his minimum rate. Larry had it fixed 5 minutes in! He was here only for another 15 because I was quizzing him. When it came time to square up... his price ridiculously was low. I simply couldn't remunerate Larry with an amount that didn't at least pay homage to the time he took to drive to my home, the professional manner in which he carried himself, and that cool demeanor. By cool I mean happy... unfettered by negativity. Great smile and personality to go along with it. The homage amount? His fee plus 50%. And I still felt that that was too low for a house call!!! Now... I may not be a practicing Catholic any longer... but that guilt trip... it is being well fed. Finally, Larry struck me as the business-type I would feel comfortable leaving alone in my home to work on a project. He's got that smooth. I'll pay more for smooth. Larry, you've a lifelong customer here (my life). You've earned it. Further, I will recommend you to anyone who needs a solid professional technician. I'm thinking that perhaps I did not get this Larry other reviewers have written about. I first called this business to ask where they were located as it seems they recently moved. Their phone message said there were several callers ahead of me and to try back as they didn't return messages left. I finally found this business. When I went in- it didn't appear anyone was actively on the phone. One person was just sitting at a desk and another person was out smoking. I asked some questions about a Mac and PC, but the person I spoke with seemed pretty uninterested. He said he didn't know anything about Macs and I would have to research it myself. OK, so, in general I do not have the greatest respect for all things computer - and while I love how my apple products function, I have not had the best experiences with getting them cared for when they need a computer vet. . . AND I almost never write reviews on Yelp, which I imagine you can research (I don't even use it enough to know how you would do that)... BUT I really want to lift up COMPUTER ZONE in Yucca Valley... Larry, who informed me that he has been at this for 20 years, is smart, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, conscientious, generous, and did the little extra things he was not at all obligated to do - and ended up charging me less than expected. We had to wait for a part to come in, but once it arrived (and actually it arrived way faster than imagined), the work was done fast.
