My husband and I needed to renew our expired passports and also get a first one for our minor child. I researched locations ahead of time and decided to make an appointment at the Wappingers's post office based on the the ability to schedule an appointment and have our photos taken. The process could not have been smoother. I made an appointment with photos for the three of us, filled out & printed all of the forms ahead of time, brought my checkbook and all of the required documents. We arrived shortly before our appointment time and Johnny's service was incredibly friendly and efficient. Everything was easy and we were done within a half an hour. I live in a community where our mail is put into narrow boxes. Today I had a package stuffed into the box and couldn't get it out without pulling and tugging until my wrist hurt. I finally got it out but it damaged the items. There are mail boxes for large packages why not use them, or deliver to my home. This happens often. This post office is one of the worst post offices sad to say. I have had problems with them before. They have lost 3 very important packages of mine so far, one included very important and expensive medication that I have to take for my heart. I put a claim out for this and was told that I would have someone contact me back until they were done with their investigation. Finally, I had someone email me stating that they had asked the mailman about these packages, they mailman told them that he had no recollection of these packages. But the packages were scanned and delivered supposedly into my mailbox. I tracked my packages, and it stated that they were delivered into my mailbox. My mailbox was empty, and I check immediately after the mailman left. So, my packages were not stolen. I was simply told, "Sorry!" Like if this is going to pay for my medication and other packages. It looks like these mail personnel are over worked and are making mistakes on their job. .... And yes Christina V. they are nice, kind folks.... But if they are not doing their job correctly and making mistakes, then Nice, Helpful and Friendly doesn't cut it and does nothing for lost packages. I don't know where the gentleman with the grey hair and mustache jets fan comes into this. The Jets are not going to fix the problem. I'm glad you're having a great experience so far. When they lose 2 or 3 of your important packages, then we shall see. You must have a family member or good friend that works there. Cheers! read more

Most of the tellers there are great but there's that one dude 'Johnny' that will drag it out and over explain stuff and work so slow, you will be in line all day! He doesn't care, there can be 15 people in line, he will actually slow down and drag everything out! read more

One star is too good for this place. It deserves negative stars. I live in an apartment complex with cubbies in a centralized mailbox. TWICE, oversized envelopes, MARKED "FRAGILE DO NOT BEND", containing important frameable certificates, were crammed into this tiny space and completely ruined. They should have been delivered to my door. I also just had a neighbor (thank goodness she's a nice one) come to my door because my mail was delivered to her box when it clearly had my name and address on it. It happened to be a large check which I was expecting. What if it had fallen into the hands of a less honest person? Countless times I've received the wrong mail. I have observed the regular mail carrier chatting away on her cell phone as she's putting the mail in the boxes, more times than not, so it's no wonder the mail frequently gets delivered to the wrong boxes. Once when I went to retrieve my mail, the back door to all the cubbies was left wide open! Anybody could have reached in and taken anybody's mail. The postal service used to be a classy establishment with intelligent and friendly postal workers easily identifiable in their uniforms. Now, they look like slobs and they blast rap music from their mail trucks that you can hear 3 blocks away. Went to this post office last week and it was hectic in there and the line was extremely long but when I finally made it to the front I encountered a nice man named Anthony. I was in a crappy mood after waiting in that line that was almost out the door but after our encounter I was in a much better mood. He was extremely polite and helpful and I could really tell he took pride in what he does and wanted to make sure he does his job right. He went out of his way to really help me and I hope other people have the pleasure of encountering him too. read more

I've been using this P.O. for almost 20 years now. I feel more qualified to write this review than most others I've written. I've seen the bench seating come and go. The lovely TV and radio for entertainment come and go because one elderly customer complained (bring the music back!) Yea, the lines here in the late afternoon stink. But review this post office, people, for what makes it unique and special....its employees. They are always friendly and helpful. They stay dedicated and knowledgeable. The gentleman with grey hair and a dark mustache is a fellow Jets fan....and we always lament about how terrible our team is doing. My family knows these employees well and they are very sweet in return. Very friendly and kind....super helpful. The lines stink, but they're not always there. And they aren't unique to this post office either. Come when school or work didn't just get out and you'll be helped promptly. The late opening time does stink but it's not a personal choice. C'mon people....you can't complain about them opening later and then also conplain when the price of stamps go up. The two go hand in hand... read more

DONT TRUST THIS POST OFFICE WITH YOUR PACKAGES OR IMPORTANT MAIL Apparently this post office was just as bad 10 years ago, according to the ratings on yelp. I've been dealing with these awful people for the last 7 years, and it seems that their superiors STILL DON'T CARE anything about how thIs post Office is run, or how they treat their customers. I don't think they even care anything about the negative ratings. I had two packages delivered, or maybe I should say, supposed to be delivered and they managed to lose both Within the span of one week. The first one they located. they told me that they put it on the "wrong truck," but then when it was delivered the package was ripped WIDE open as if someone wanted to see what was in the package to steal it. The next package was never delivered to us it was lost. Fonzy, the post office manager, said that the package was misdelivered and that he knew exactly where the package was. He stated that he "would personally deliver the package to my door tomorrow." The following day came, but still no package. I went back to the post office the next day to find out what happened to the package. The postmaster nor the office manager would come out to talk to me. They told the gentleman at the window to tell me I'd have to contact the company, because they couldn't locate it. I asked for something in writing stating that it was missed delivered as I was told, but they refused. They told me that it said that it was misdelivered on my tracking details, WHICH WAS A LIE!!! It took me Close to two weeks to get this resolved. Every time I called their customer support number these idiots kept closing my case and saying that it was resolved. They were rude and dismissive in this post office, And the customer advocates who are supposed to help resolve your issues for the most part weren't too much better although they weren't rude. This postmaster EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL AND RUDE anytime there is an issue she needs to address. They deliver mail to the wrong address or lose mail all the time. I've had the postmaster come to my home and go into my mailbox without my permission "LOOKING FOR SOMEBODIES PACKAGE" I'm suspecting that maybe they steal packages at this point. I will never have anything delivered again through the US post office if I can help it and if I must use the post office for delivery I will have my package delivered to another relatives house DEFINITELY NOT in Wappinger Falls!!! They are extremely corrupt and useless. I never usually leave reviews but I am totally fed up AND HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE AVOID THIS KIND OF GRIEF I'd give five negative stars if I could ...and they wonder why the US post office is going out of business. I gave them 3 stars only because of friendly service. Otherwise they're lacking. Rarely do they have adequate amounts of mailing supplies, especially Priority/Express mailing envelopes. I have lived in Hillside Lake since 1973. Our post office has been assigned as Wappingers Falls. This does cause a few problems but nothing earth shattering, Not having door to door delivery, as the other taxpayers in Wappingers Falls has at times bothered me but walking to the end of the road gave me a chance to see my neighbors and get some exercise. Parcels to big for the box were always dropped at my door, till recently. For some unknown reason the carrier apparently has a hard time driving down our (dead end) street. Redelivery requests are made according to directions & confirmation #s issued but no parcel is ever delivered. When a complaint is made at the PO the folks are very nice & understanding but the problem continues. Unfortunately one bad penny gives everyone a bad name. If this carrier has a problem it needs to be addressed not ignored. As I get older I find it easier to order online and have things delivered. I have always supported & defended the USPS workers, but now I will request that alterternive carriers such as UPS, or Fedex be used so I'm sure to receive orders. The PO itself does need additional personnel to handle the increased business due to a growing population. read more

This post office stinks! They open at 10 am, almost always a line out the door. If there is one person or a 150 in line they work at on speed (slow). Most of the time there is only one person at the desk. If there are two of them (very rear) when brake time comes, the person will leave for brake no mater how many people are waiting in line. My first time sending anything after moving to Wappingers Falls--and I'm so glad that this is my post office! The staff is so helpful. I was media mailing books and before I left the counter the staff member said "that's really heavy... Do you have more packing tape? I just worry that it might not hold." I'm glad she said that, because it was about $1000 worth of my friend's textbooks and I realized how close it was to spilling open. I may not have noticed otherwise and the post office worker helped me reinforce it until it was fully secure. She was so patient with me! I'll definitely come back here whenever I need to send anything! read more

This has to be the worst post office ever. It's comical. I live less than a three minute walk from this place for the last 5 years. 1 out of 4 letters and or package of mine is delivered to the apartments down the road. First class priority mail for Christmas from the in-laws delivered to the neighbors, every year. Expensive soon to be out of print Omnibus I bought, according to the tracking is stuck at the post office two days past the arrival date I paid extra to receive it by. Goes from Memphis Tennessee to Wappingers falls NY in 4 days but it is currently on the 4th day it's stuck at this Post Office! Nothing has changed in the five years I've lived here. Not my name, address, or mail man. Still my mail especially expensive packages and paid for expedited mail consistently are late and delivered to the wrong house. I want to tip my mail man for the holidays but he literally is awful and it would just reenforce that behavior. After the first month of this I went to the post office and found they are completely incompetent. No wonder the mail man sucks when his superiors appear to be utterly useless and lack any real knowledge of their own jobs. You can't expect your feet to hit the right dance steps if your head is drunk, so to speak. I wish I could give this place negative 5 stars. I don't like doing this. It took me Five Years to do this, in hopes they would figure it out. This is the last straw. I showed them the tracking of this package. The WORST post office ever. The manager that answers the phone early mornings is rude and obnoxious asking me why i have a signature confirmation package being sent to me if i'm not home. I DIDN'T request this!!! The company i ordered things from did, it's their policy! He also asked me why i was buying things from California when it's easier to just go to the mall!!!
