This is possibly the very worst Post Office in existence. Packages fall into a black hole almost every time. They NEVER deliver packages on time. They can not find them when you call to locate them. To start, the images of long lines give me PTSD, just having to think about all the times I've had to go through that myself. This is the absolute worst place, it is hell on earth. I've lived at my current address for three years and only TWICE have my USPS packages gotten delivered, and I have packages sent to my apartment regularly. My most recent issue is a backpack I ordered from Cali over a week ago via Priority 2-day mail. It was finally out for delivery today, but never arrived. I called and was put on hold for over thirty minutes twice, before getting an answer. The woman who spoke to me yelled over me and cut me off the entirety of the conversation, not answering any of my questions, and telling me they have thousands of packages to deliver and that it's physically impossible to take care of them all in one day. That is an absolutely B/S excuse. The second time I called she said that someone will be in contact with me within the next 24 hours. How does that help me? I'm a full time student and can't waste my entire day waiting for them to not do their jobs yet again. There is also a package my friend mailed to me LAST year, with presents from her trip to Italy that I've never received. I called them multiple times about it, giving them the package info and my own information, and they always tell me they will call me back if they find it. I've given up on that package at this point. Furthermore, there are multiple times in the past where the supervisor has had to personally deliver my mail to me in her car, because no one else there would do it. That is just completely unheard of. The multiple times where I've been forced to pick up my package in person, I ended up leaving in tears because of how viciously the woman at the window spoke to me. Even though at this point I expect to be treated like trash, I still always go in with patience and calm, hoping that they'll see I'm not there to attack them, and maybe they'll be kind to me JUST ONCE. I don't care how bad of a day I'm having, I absolutely never speak to my clients like that, let alone crap down their throats the way she did to me. Not only that, I get sent between the Union City location, the Park Ave location, and the Bergenline location. How is this place still in operation? If any worker happens to read this, how dare you treat people this way? How the flip do you sleep at night?? I refuse to have my mail delivered through them anymore. I have lost so much time, energy, and money because of this pathetic place and the demons that work there. I loathe all of you and I hope your lives are as miserable as you make mine. read more

If you're trying to pick up a package here and they said that they don't have it, and you know that they do, then they do have it! I had the same problem with them, they made me believed that I can't get my package even after confirming with the UPS head quarter over the phone that my package is there and they should get it for me. The representative at the head quarter who was on the phone with me even asked me to put her on speaker so that the lady at the counter would hear her and then get me my package, still she refused to get me my package. I got frustrated and was walking out the door but something told me to speak to the cleaning lady. Can you believe that the cleaning lady took my tracking number from me, went to the back, came back and told me that my package is seating there... To cut the long story short, SHE (cleaning lady) ended up getting me my paper work, and she gave me my package. I almost walk out believing they don't have it. Thanks to the Cleaning lady. They have messy organization. I work at home full time and being at home all the time, I have many packages during the week, they never even buzz me to come down to get the signature needed packages, instead just left me notice. I mean if you can get into our lobby to left notice to my mail box, why can't just take the elevator up to my unit and ring me??? I actually don't live close to this location but i have to waste time to run there for pick up! and hence, even if you go there the next day you got the notice, the package is always not ready!!! I need to keep going everyday until I finally can pick up.... what a waste of time and make my package always delayed!! their computer system sucks! and of coz i have experienced lost package with them!! Worst service possible, I've escalated numerous issues to them and opened complaints with the main office that go unresolved. For large portions of the day, they leave their phone off the hook so you can't reach them. They have certain delivery men who input that they attempted deliveries late at night when I am home, but no one answered and yet they leave no notice. read more

Wise experience in my life! Rude young lady at main office. 2 comics delivered but never received no one had an answer. Finally after 10 days I was told I'm out of the 2 comics that were missing. This is probably the worst post office on the Eastern Seaboard! Start with the complete lack of parking, in one of the most densely populated towns in the US. Your best bet to park is after school hours (staff from nearby school hog all spaces in the area). Only open 10 to 5. The clerks also take their time to open their windows, like they don't want to be there. Some are friendly, some are like they don't give a fuck being there. Absolutely, positively the WORST facility on Earth. This Post Office should be shut down. No place to park, dirty building, rude employees. If you have 30+ minutes to kill then go there. Stand there all by yourself waiting for someone - anyone to acknowledge you which they don't. You ring the bell for help and that doesn't work, you go to a window and ask for help and that doesn't work. When they are ready to "help" you run to another window. Exemplifies why the US postal service is slowly disappearing. I'd rather risk having my packages taken by someone on the street than having them held hostage at this place. I brought a copy of ID and proof of address and even that wasn't good enough to get my package. Considering they are barely open outside of normal working hours, I took time off to get this package. I will now either have to spend significant time waiting in line during the couple of weekend hours they are open, or take more time off to get this package. I called the same number from two different phones simultaneously: one had me on indefinite hold and the other (from my business telephone) resulted in an immediate response and had my issue resolved rather quickly. This was regarding a pickup so if you're actually trying to track a package you're receiving, you're probably SOL. read more

This is the worst post office in the entire world. They don't deliver business mail until after 11am, they won't answer the phone, and then if they do they put you on hold again for hours. I've had two packages sent to my address here and they have sent it back stating that the addressee is unknown! I go there every day! When complaining to the staff (most of which you only see walking outside on their break) they say they have no postmaster here so you cannot complain to anyone. Zero stars! I don't even know where to begin with this awful place . I have countless mail that friends and family members have sent to me that I have never received. Anywhere from Christmas cards to invitations etc .. It's totally unacceptable. There is nothing in the UC Postal service network that deserves any type of acclaim. I take that back... the woman who works at the 8th Street post office- Rita, I think- is VERY helpful and apologetic. Union City never truly attempts delivery and instead leaves slips-most of the time. You go to try and pick up your package and they can never find it and claim it's out with the driver.... then yell and get atitudes. You wait an hour for a supervisor- who doesn't help. And the Post Master is like the Wizard of Oz. You ask for him and are told that he is there until 10am- The counter doesn't open nor do they answer phones until 10am, so how exactly are you supposed to ask to see the Post Master? The worker WREN, has left me on hold for over an hour on multiple occasions. They never come back to the phone- sometimes someone else will pick up and then put you on hold for "someone else" and you never, EVER get through. read more

Terrible service. The experience I received at this location today makes me wish that the postal service becomes obsolete. I just went there today to drop off a package. Their bin for packages and large parcels was closed (the flap wouldn't open) so I ask for assistance. Now, I didn't realize that windows opened at 10 (I think a website I checked listed they opened at 9am), so I see a lady behind the desk and ask her where I should place my package. She ignores me. I asked her again three more times. She ignores me and walks in the back just carrying on about her day. I finally call her some choice names because I hate being ignored and then she snaps that they open at 10am and says I can leave my package on the counter. I do and leave. However, I don't trust these people so I decided to return and get my package. When I do, this heffer had the nerve to yell at me and say that I placed my package on the wrong counter. I told her where to go and how to get there and that if she had answered my 5 second question, we both could've gone about our lives by now. I would never go here again, and now I'm going to try to get this lady fired now because I'm that petty. read more

Like other reviewers, I can't even tell you how many problems I have had with this USPS location because I too have lost count. Lost packages, held packages... all the same problems others experience. And yes, the staff is generally rude and useless. There's a new postmaster now and he was nice enough, promising to look into the matter. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on my packages. The problem occurs when I order something online and it's transferred from UPS/FedEx to USPS. The packages are always on schedule for estimated delivery until they are transferred to the local Union City Post Office. It is at this point that you can forget about receiving your package. It's a shame you can't choose which carrier you want to deliver your items when you place orders online. I'd pay extra to actually get what I order. That's the point of paying for delivery - to have it delivered to you. For the most recent incident: The tracking info available online said "delivery exception" and that a notice was left. Their standard excuses (delivery exceptions) include (but are not limited to): "Mailbox blocked; no secure location to leave package; no one at home... etc.... all false. I get letters, I get UPS, I just don't get packages from USPS/FedEx even though they have a key to deliver our mail into the secure entry/lobby where our mailboxes are located. My only guess is that the carrier is too lazy to carry packages on his route, so they stay at the post office until I, the customer, can pick them up. Especially annoying when you've paid for 2day shipping, etc. As usual, I was home waiting for the package when this supposed delivery attempt was made, so I know there was no actual attempt, and there was no notice left. I tried to retrieve the package 2 days later from the post office, and even after providing the postal employee with the tracking number they were unable to find my package. They were unable to provide an explanation as to what happened or where it could be, even though it says online - on the USPS website - that the package is being held there. It's missing. I flied a formal complaint. Probably won't do any good, but at least it's in writing for the record. read more

I called them up and still no help they told me i filled out the notice wrong even though the person who came to get the notice took it away. I have been calling and calling this location they put me on hold for longer then ten minutes and never picked up again so i have been calling back and no answer during business hours! Now i have to harass the company that sent me the package to see if they can do something because i cant even get in touch with my own post office. this is the shittiest post office in america. i have lived and worked all over the country and their blatant disrespect and laziness is on display every single time i go there. mail isn't delivered, mail isn't forwarded, packages are sent back, there is usually one clerk and a huge line. today was the final straw. i paid for express mail. it wasn't delivered on time. today, they wouldn't give me my money back, as "thats an estimate. its NOT two days, its two TO three days. well it was four days...."sundays don't count". they said you should have sent it priority EXPRESS. but, that wasn't what they told me. this hell hole should be closed down, and their workers fired. i hate this place with a passion. and my mail carrier reflects the horrid service on gets at this seventh circle of hell. I can't even begin to describe how much I hate having to deal with this post office. If you are unfortunate enough to not have a package delivered, calling this place is a waste of time. As soon as they answer the phone they say "please hold" Then you sit on the phone for 20 minutes and either the call will cut off or someone else will pick up the call, have no idea who you are and then put you on hold again. If you are lucky to get someone to check your package number, they NEVER seem to have the package at their location and always advise you to check the post office on 24th and Bergenline. Don't get me started on that place! The way they treat their customers is an outright disgrace and they have absolutely no phone manners at all. These people are some of the most rudest, laziest bunch you will ever deal with on the phone and in person. If you try to confront them about it on the phone, prepare to have the phone hung up on you. When I only moved into a new building in Union City we got none of our mail and I had to deal with this place for every package I ordered from eBay or Amazon. If like me you work and can only pick up undelivered packages on a Saturday morning, prepare to stand in a long line with 1 person getting peoples missed packages. This is the worst and most bizarre experience I have aver had with a "business". Packages never get redelivered. Got rudely turned around at the post office for not showing up with the pink slip (that I gave to the USPS agent at my door in person). Received a phone number where when lucky enough for somebody to pick up got put on hold immediately without anybody ever picking up again. This is done deliberately. I tried several times to be sure. One time, I immediately said "Please, please don't put me on hold " to which the women on the other end responded: "You break my heart, I am so sorry to do this to you" after which she transferred me to another person, who immediately put me on (infinite) hold again. There is no way to contact them, no way to file a meaningful complaint and no recourse. I was not rude or inappropriate in any way, because I knew I would never get my package that way just to find out that I would not get my package no matter what. I ordered two packages and one was damaged because the carrier folded the package in half and shoved it in my mailbox and I live in a building so it is a small mailbox. My product is completely unusable. Then for my other package the carrier left a slip saying it was attempted for delivery but I was home all day and my bell never rang. Then when I tracked my item on amazon it said it was attempted twice once at 12:30pm and at 9:50pm which is a lie cause the post office is not open at 9:50pm. They also failed to write the tracking number on the slip which means it was filled out incorrectly. So when I called to make sure it was at the location it said it was at the lady was very rude and not helpful at all she gave me an attitude and would not help me cause I did not have the tracking number which is there fault that it was not written on the slip. And when I called to file a complaint about the damaged product I was on hold forever and when I tried online it said that package was not eligible for a claim. This post office has the worst service ever they are not following policy and are very rude to their customers. From now on I will make sure that if I want to order something and it ships through the post office I will just forget it and not order it cause I am extremely unsatisfied with their service. No wonder they are having so many problems and everyone is saying that soon the post offices will shut down. Maybe they should do better at their job and be nicer to their customers. I will say that if they do shut down I will not feel one bit bad for select employees for losing their jobs. read more
