This is the first time that I have felt discriminated and insulted when trying to renew my children's passports. I went in the middle of September to schedule a time to renew my twin boys passports and was schedule for 10/31/16 mins u I didn't get any information on what to bring or what I needed to bring. I arrived at our appointment in 10/31/16 and the lady who was helping me notified me that dad needed to be with us and if we had a notarized letter from dad. I said. I, so she made a special appointment today 11/5/16 @ 9:30am so we can renew the passports. We arrived a our appointment on 11/5/16 @ 930 am and the poster man was helping another family and scheduled a Saturday appointment in December. I mentioned I had an appoint today at 9:30am for 2 kids to renew the passports. He looked at the paperwork and tossed it to us and said you don't have the correct information so you have to come again. At that point I felt insulted and discriminated. I showed him the list the lady gave me and he didn't want to help us or look at it. We asked who can we call to complain and he said I don't have it. We asked for his name and he said it so fast JD or JB and we asked him to write it down and he said no you write it down and walked away. I'm so upset and shocked on how we were treated. I came to the union city post office and complained and they told me I would have to call the 800 number. Since I went through what I went through this morning they helped me renew my 2 boys passports. They treated me very well and coming forward I will be coming to the union city post office for everything. read more

I echo another reviewer's rating--according to the site I need to call the phone number to schedule an appointment (for passport), but I have called the numbers for 2 consecutive days during business hours, and no one answers the phone. The recorded message simply say call back again. Please pick up the phone when people call or at a minimum, allow a way to record a voicemail so you can call back when you are less busy. read more

In an attempt to make a weekend appointment, I called countless times and left them 3 voice mails in the past 2 weeks. No one picked up the phone and I never received a returned call. Why did the recording asks caller to leave message when the postal staff don't reply calls? read more

How can I make an appointment if no one picks up the phone? After ringing for a couple of times, there's an automated message thats says to call back after some time and the same thing is repeated for each and every call. read more

Service doesn't get better than this when it comes to posting stuff around the world. Staff are great and always helpful and they always seem to be prepared to go the extra mile and explain everything... even if you do feel like you're asking the really dumb questions. read more

I'd give them a negative star if Yelp allows. My daughter runs a student club at a Pleasanton high school. They had a military drive to collect donation to the service people stationed overseas. They put the donations in 19 Priority Mail boxes. Their teacher told them that the Sunol office is the only office nearby that accepts bulk drop off, so they called Sunol office, and as other reviewers said, this office never answered phone. So last Tuesday, my daughter decided to drive there to make an appointment to drop the boxes. A guy in the office told her that the bulk drop off should be at 11:30am or 2:30pm. My daughter explained that she's a student, and could only come after school, which is after 3:30pm; and the boxes were for our military personnels overseas. Then the guy said, "I think you're ok, we can arrange it." The next day my daughter drove there with the boxes, and her friend on board to help her load and unload. This time a lady was in the office. She didn't accept the boxes, and told my daughter and her friend to come again either at 11:30am or 2:30pm. When my daughter explained again they were students and could not come at those times, and the boxes were donations for the oversea service people, and begged for flexibility, the woman just didn't give in. So my daughter had to drive the boxes back. Eventually I helped them drop the boxes in another office. But my daughter really felt frustrated and insulted when her enthusiasm to help our military was met with indifference from the government employee. I can understand that USPS as a government associated business doesn't care about customers and revenue (19 international Priority boxes cost almost $400), but I'm shocked how insensitive the Sunol office employee is; when the kids are trying to help our service people, if USPS people don't help, at least they should not create difficulty. read more

Worst service! They don't look at addressee's and even when pkg is paid for as to insurance, in flat rate usps box, priority and we get notice is has arrived, they say there is no package! Absolutely the help there shouldn't be working as postal employees. Lazy, inept, undependable service. Had more than 2 packages that they say never arrived. This time I insured it and still they said no package. The Worst!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Trying to call this facility for 30 minutes and no one is picking up the phone!! After it rings 15 times I get the recorded message "Memory is full..." This is completely unacceptable for taxpayer funded government facility. I have questions about the passport process which I read was available by appt. only - a little hard to do when you can't make contact.... Very frustrating! read more

Highly recommend them for passport service. Lina was very courteous and helpful. Great customer service. The only downside is that they don't make phone appointments, you have to drive down to make an appointment. It is still worth it. Tried calling Newark USPS for making an appointment but their phone is constantly busy! I must have called for 30-45 minutes - constantly busy!!! Fremont USPS has a strange inconvenient process where people line up since 4:30 am to get a ticket. Only 36 tickets per day & they are all taken by 7 am. Forget that madness! Go to Sunol USPS for your passport application. read more

I needed a new passport, and the nearest place with an appointment the next day was this location.  I had heard horror stories about other post offices, how long it took, how impatient people were at the paperwork and payments, how you had to get in line really early even if you had an appointment.  So when I saw Sunol had an appointment at 12:45 the next day, I quickly gathered my things, made a list of things *I* needed to do because I had no idea how busy they'd be.  Instead, I arrived at 12:30, expecting others to be there, walked in, and was actually done before my designated appointment time.  This post office is a quaint little place, two guys working there, posters on the wall from local kids who had come there for field trips.  The clerk was efficient in taking my photo, collecting the paperwork, billing me with one swipe of my debit card, then separating out the money order for State Department fee.  It was a pleasure to go there.  I told everyone I know here in Livermore/Pleasanton, and they were surprised that a small town like Sunol even had a post office, but many people said that they'd drive a little further just to have a great postal experience.  Kudos to both guys working that day - I wish I could remember their names.  I was in and out so quickly and nicely and efficiently, I felt really good, and thanked him several times for making the passport application process so incredibly easy! read more

Today I went in with my husband and two children to have our boy's passports renewed. We had two back to back appointments. We were greeted and acknowledged immediately by the gentleman peocessing passports. A family with an appointment previous to ours was apparently not done with their passport processing for their three children apparently because they did not come well prepared with the appropriate documentation or checkbook. The lady who was paying for the services got very condecending with the gentleman at the post office trying to process the passports as quickly ad he could given their lack of preparedness. He, unfortunatelty, was treated with a lot of disrespect by this very condescending woman that had the appointment ahead of us. She felt entitled to have all appointments following their family be delayed because she HAD to have her passports processed TODAY. The gentleman at the post office reminded her other people have appointments and should not have to be made to wait because her family came disorganized with their documentation. Another gentleman that works at this post office came out and told them they would have to wait until others of us that came in a timely mannner and prepared with our documentation were helped during our assigned times. I want to commend these two post office employees for handling the situation with outmost respect, courteousness and professionalism given this lady thinking that her emergency for needing her passports processed immediately was superior to other people's appointments for those of us who came in ready for our passport processing times. Our boy's passports were processed in ten minutes flat with amazing efficiency even though we started our appointment late due to this incident. This is the second time we have used this post office for children's passport services and highly recommend making your appointment on line to be helped here. read more
