Probably the worst post office around. nasty customer service not wanting to scan in packages and for e you to use the kiosk. They return packages with no reason, they cost me additional money to reship. I will never use them again. read more

Extremely unpleasant employees. Very unhelpful. Nit pick packaging and try to get you to spend money on something.

I was the only person in line right at opening, yet they tried to tell me they couldn't take my package and that I had to use the machine. I knew that wasn't true--they just didn't want to be bothered. My package was too large for the drop slot, meaning I'd have to hand it to them anyway. After some back-and-forth, one woman begrudgingly agreed to scan it but claimed she couldn't print a receipt. Then, when I pressed the matter, miraculously, another employee was able to do both on her computer I might add. The lack of customer service in this building is appalling. The staff is curt, rude, and quick to lie about what they can't do rather than simply helping. Meanwhile, our taxes pay their salaries. If I treated customers this way, I wouldn't have a job. It's shocking that this behavior is tolerated in Summit, especially when I ship packages frequently elsewhere without issues. read more

My father is in the hospital so I've had his mail forwarded to me. They've lost several weeks of mail including bills, and when I called to ask about it the receptionist had such an attitude. She wasn't listening to a word I was saying. I've been receiving forwarded mail now but I'm missing several weeks of mail between the last time I collected mail. She was so unbelievably rude, she would've cursed me out if she could've. I cannot believe how bad the service was. read more

Had a passport appointment, the front clerk KATHY was very rude and not very accommodating, we had an appointment for 3 person she was in a hurry for the reason that it's almost her lunch break!! But the point is that is our time appointment! read more

Terrible personal rude theses employees should not been servicing the Summit Community. Helpless and unwillingness to help Kathy super rude. I went three times to request help and be ready for my son passport, she was not : 1 nice, 2: efficient 3: diligent 4 : willing to help. I'm just impressed how this type of people work there specially in our town, also the hours are very restricted this is not suitable to the public they should open earlier or closed later ..... LADY WHO WORKED THERE TRIED TO STEAL MY PHONE!!! She was already mad at me because I listened to the directions her coworker gave me which were wrong. I told them i was clueless and needed help so i listened to the exact directions that the guy gave me on the machine to print out the necessary things. then when i got in line the lady was working with me. she heard and knew that her coworker gave me those directions but decided to get mad at me yelling and blaming me. i still have a smile on my face being way too polite than what she deserves and when i leave i accidentally left my phone on the counter. I notice pretty immediately and am back in the post station about 5 minutes later asking everyone if they had seen a phone and i specifically asked the lady to which she just stares and ignores me. looked around everywhere and it was nowhere to be found. the post office was the only stop i had made so i knew it had to be there. also for some context i am half black. it wasn't until i came back with my white dad who used his phone to track mines with the find my iphone feature and my phone was ringing from her pocket!!! even when you could obviously hear the ringing she was silent. it wasn't until i went up to her with my dad and told her i could hear my phone coming from her to which all of a sudden in her own words she didn't realize she had it but at the same time she was just about to hand it over. like make that make sense?! And of course when she realized who my dad was there was not an ounce of attitude or negative tone directed towards me anymore. Racism at its finest. I know that this post office is notoriously known for having rude service but this was absolutely unacceptable! She needs to be fired immediately. There is no reason why she should be yelling at customers or stealing from them. How is she still working there?! So many of these negative reviews are about her. read more

The Staff here are RUUUDE!!! This was my first time visiting this post office. I work in Overlook Medical Center and I decided I wanted to drop off a package before going to work. I gave the clerk my package and I asked, "May I have a receipt please?" The clerk responded, "Next time use the machine. You can't miss it." I've never been there before, I've never used a machine, and nor did he ask if I preferred to use the machine. I usually use a post office in Union, NJ and all I have to do is give the clerk my package and receive a receipt afterwards, no questions asked. It's like the clerk in Summit didn't want to help me. It wasn't crowded at all and I was the only one in line. That was my first and it will be my last time going to that location. If I could rate no stars for it to count, Maple St. Post Office in Summit would receive NONE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

This USPO (actual post office building) is staffed (in the front/cust serv transactions) by some of the BEST people EVER in my opinion for post office experiences! Whether you've been in twice or 20 times, each person is so kind & lines go quickly! I've had the closing gate held for me several times & for heavy packages - no prob- they've helped me with that too! I even had to un-box & re-wrap a huge box & again without hesitation, they helped me! I love their energy, attitude, efficiency, kind nature & professionalism (when in doubt I ask & they've always come through)! I'd never go to a different post office, even if it was closer. I'm a loyal fan, thanks to THEM. (Although for my DAILY DELIVERED MAIL it wud be refreshing to get my mail delivered earlier in the day on a consistent basis - & maybe know the name of my carrier!? I don't like to have my mail delivered at 11am or 3pm or 8pm- or to keep checking the mail box... did they come yet? I don't know why this is so challenging) And trust me, I HAVE CALLED.... nothing changes- so I'll stick to what's positive! Everyone that works there is incredibly and utterly RUDE. The lady that always works there, you'll know who I'm talking about, has the nastiest attitude that I have ever come across with in customer service. We are going through a pandemic, I understand things happen and you can't control your anger but be a human and have some compassion. I've had loved ones died of this diseases and am depending on packages to help console my family. 5 stars for the front desk folks - I've never had an issue with them, and they've always gone out of their way to help me and others. The only time I've seen any issues is when the person is trying to get away with something. 1 star for sorting - honestly, I get mail for other people - other houses on my street or even other streets with the same number - or even completely off addresses - on a weekly basis. I don't know who does sorting or how sorting gets done, but it's not rocket science. 5 starts for carriers on the streets - people drive terrible in this town, and the letter carriers are risking their lives. Then again, jaywalking is so bad in Summit that maybe it is protective for the letter carriers. read more

Incredibly rude officious people. They act like they're doing one a favour. The clerk once screamed at me that books were not media mail. When I corrected her she grew even angrier until I finally went to another P.O. Definitely people with a chip on their shoulder and not to be trusted with packages or prices. This is why the USPS gets such lousy reviews. I was put on hold for over an hour, someone picked up by accident, said "Oh god.... wait a second", and then put me on hold again. I just wanted to track a package which on line told me to call the post office. I was following their directions and they chose to ignore me completely. They finally told me they tried to deliver the package a week earlier, but they left no notice, so how was I to know? I could have had it a week earlier if they had left word. I had a Christmas present coming and it arrived on Dec 26, not the post office fault, but they had my name and address but not the company name, I am in an office building that houses three companies, and rather than try to deliver it, or call the sender and get my phone number and call me, they sent it back. Who knows when I will get it back here, plus what a waist of time and money. Hate when people do the bare minimum. read more

The Summit Post Office is exceptional. The staff will help as much as they can. Management is the problem there. They are never available when you need them. Passport knowledge is above and beyond. They give the best advice and information. Great Post Office! read more

I've always received stellar service when coming here. The staff behind the counters are polite and efficient. Even during rush times and tax season the line goes pretty quickly. The postal carriers are incredibly friendly and helpful. We've never had any problems in the nearly 30 years we've lived in Summit. When my kids got their college acceptance letters, our postman made sure to ring the bell and deliver them by hand. Now THAT'S service!! read more

The operation of the Summit US Post Office I can only describe as dysfunctional. Numerous misdeliveries - large quantities of mail addressed to neighbors, different streets, even different towns (I have received mail addressed even to New Providence and South Orange!!) A number of instances where the carrier absent-mindedly dropped mail on the ground, often successive days where no mail was delivered at all, phony complaints from the post office about mail not being delivered to my home during the winter months because "there was some snow and ice on your front steps" - did it never dawn on our supposedly dauntless carrier that that's why there are handrails on steps? Three small steps (with a handrail) are too treacherous to negotiate? A pretty lame excuse. How many times during the same winter months have I travelled to the Summit Post Office after a snowstorm, only to discover ice and snow on its own front steps? Add to all these debits a frequently rude or indifferent staff. It is easy to see why the US Post Office has been close to bankruptcy. A reorganization and replacement of current management as well as better training of postal workers is desperately needed. read more
