We recently moved to the area and this is the post office we like to go to to drop off our letters and packages. I was bummed to learn our mail doesn't come from this particular location because I need to pick up a package and they listed a different one, but I digress. Having moved from a large city, this place is positively cute. And tiny. It's also a little run down looking but that's the norm. It's located next to the Fanwood train station and is easy to miss the first time around. It's nestled further back than the neighboring building and has a tiny parking lot out front for maybe 4 cars and a little more parking in the back. We have stopped by before where there was absolutely no parking available but we usually find one eventually. Or I go with my husband and one person gets dropped off to quickly run the errand. Despite the small size, I am fond of this post office. Well, depending on who you get. There is one man who works there that is absolutely amazing. I really need to get his name but he was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Ironically, there was one visit where the lady in the "stall" next to him was pretty much the complete opposite so I can see how one's experience and impression can fluctuate vastly based on who is working at the time. Fingers crossed you get the helpful ones when you visit. Note: I heard that this place generally has more postage stamps than the Westfield post office probably due to less traffic so if you're looking for specific designs, you may have better luck here. I'm happy to have such a post office nearby! And I'm pleased to be able to leave such a positive review for a post office. May I recommend the Fanwood post office in NJ? I was awestruck after having used the Westfield office one too many times where they are oblivious to professionalism or customer service . This gentleman Postmaster Evans made our day and even offered me a chair as I am disabled and in pain at times standing for a while , as he waited on everyone. I was on my way for more home sessions with munchkins and teens ... but needed money orders as we don't have a local military bank with USAA, a quick graduation card and stamps ! Went in to resolve an issue that the local Fanwood agent had identified and waited 4 days to let me know. The agent was not helpful and carefully unhelpful. Careful to use the postal requirements to be as unhelpful as possible while being on the right side of the postal requirements. Instead of helping make a sale which you would think this agent would want she made me wait more and ended up asking me to redo the whole submission. I ended up using another office. Miserable customer service. I should have known it wasn't going to be good when the customer in front of me got into a small verbal altercation with the lady working the counter. Pro tip: If you can, try to avoid the treasure troll and the lovely and talented fellow next to her, even if you have to let others cut in front of you. Horrible carriers don't take return mail or packages. Same package for return addressed and stamped for three days sitting in mailbox and carrier just ignores. Even when I tried to ask him why he won't take it he just walked away. read more

Mr. David, the postmaster is an idiot and this is being nice. Sent an overnight package on a Tuesday, recipient did not get it Wednesday. Went to the Post Office on Thursday am and filled out a form to get reimbursed since the USPS commercials say "guaranteed or your money back". Was told Mr. Davis would call me since he was out and would be returning later that morning. By Monday am my patience had run out since I did not get a call on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Figured I was patient enough. I went back to the post office to find out that Mr. David had done nothing in 4 days and could not explain why he did not call me back and that I had to come in again. Told me I had to call Atlanta to verify that the package had not been delivered. I THE CUSTOMER, not him the POSTAL EMPLOYEE. After filing several complaints and speaking with a woman named Rita from the Postal District consumer affairs I am finally granted my refund. PEOPLE LIKE RICHARD DAVIES GIVE THE POSTAL SERVICE THE REPUTATION THEY DESERVE. He could never make it in corporate America. Clerks at the front are very nice.
