This review is a little skewed because it was holiday time. The line was long and there were a lot of irritable people in line. I felt bad for all of the postal workers. There were 3-4 of them including the manager that was floating. There was one worker that I noticed was doing such an amazing job. She was smiling and happy and tried to be as helpful as possible to everyone. I actually stood in line praying that I would get her, because the other workers appeared to be having a bad day - work edition. The heavens smiled upon me because when I heard that magic word: "NEXT", I was greeted by Athena and she was terrific. She helped me with my package and the letters I wanted to mail. She cracked jokes with me and it was a terrific experience. The lines on either side of me sounded like the customers were being booked into the local prison or something. I hope that Athena brightened someone else's day like she did mine. read more

I wish I could say this was an isolated bad day, but this experience is a fine example of the failing USPS and typical of this location. Unwelcoming staff, chronic inefficiency, and frequent technical failures are the norm here. I'm sharing this particular visit because it illustrates perfectly what you can expect every time you walk through that door. I came in with the simplest possible transaction: a prepaid label, already purchased, with a QR code to scan and print. A 30 second transaction, tops. The self-service kiosk had a long line, so I made the decision to use the full-service counter instead. I waited 20 minutes. When I finally reached the teller, I showed her my QR code and was told, without a hint of apology or friendliness, that she couldn't scan QR codes and I needed to go use the self-service kiosk. The same kiosk. The one with the line. Back I went for another 20 minutes, after which my actual transaction took all of 30 seconds. So, 40 minutes, one needlessly rude employee, and a full-service desk that is apparently incapable of performing a function that an unmanned machine handles effortlessly. Par for the course here. If you have any flexibility in how you ship, do yourself a favor: go to UPS or FedEx. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this location in particular. I'm really not one to leave bad reviews but the experience here was just baffling. They wouldn't accept a return package because it supposedly needed a specific hazard label for batteries that the company didn't provide me. They first said I could print one there and then after some genuine confusion on my end told me I would need to go to UPS or somewhere else because they don't print them there.... Y'all. That hazard label is for air travel. The shipping label is clearly marked as hazardous / GROUND TRAVEL ONLY. I went to a different post office, they looked at all the same return info, put a little extra hazard sticker on it and sent me on my way. Absolutely ridiculous waste of time. read more

I have mixed feelings about my recent experience at this post office location. Darshana, the postal clerk who assisted me with my packages, was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. I had over a dozen boxes to ship, but she zipped right through them with a cheerful attitude. I used the large flat rate box, which was only $22.80. This was really affordable in comparison to FedEx or UPS. What's missing is a cart for customers to wheel in heavy packages. I had to make multiple trips. Luckily my boyfriend was there to do all the heavy lifting! When I left, I grabbed additional boxes because I have more shipments to make for work, and I really did not appreciate a snide remark from one of the other female workers (I didn't catch her name). I didn't take the boxes just to hoard them, so the rudeness was uncalled for. This negative interaction resulted in a downgrade of my review from a 4 to a 2. read more

This is the only post office that makes you pay for tape. I can understand paying for a box and tape but a tiny piece of tape to close your mailer because it wasn't sealed well enough. No thank you. The older Asian woman on 01/02/26 before 5pm was extremely rude. By the time we walked up to the counter she already had a sour look on her face when I said hi. I was trying to return 2 things and she started raising her voice at me when I asked about how to figure out which label was which. A worker here steals my packages when dropped off in the self-service bin. I own a lingerie and handmade bikini business. Any time I drop a package off with a prepaid label but don't scan the label in the kiosk, the package goes missing. Sometimes the kiosk is down or there are many customers so we'll drop our deliveries off in a hurry. Almost every time we've done this one goes missing. When you check the tracking info it looks as if we never dropped the package off. This is how they are able to steal the package because there is no proof that it was ever there if the worker does not scan it. It's a shame that someone here recognizes our store name and pockets our customer's orders. Since we sell mostly bikinis and lingerie, our packages are very small. It's happened about 5 times now and we barely even go to this location anymore. We've even had a customer receive an open empty package. After speaking to the local post office for that delivery we were told the package arrived empty. I've also had an issue with a worker here who told me to wait for his assistance and then he never came back. I waited a couple hours because I told him I urgently needed my RTS package (which I paid for). He didn't come out until he was coming to lock the doors and then attempted to kick me out. The Carmel Mountain location is actually open 24/7 and we've never lost a package there so we'll be driving out of the way every time from now on. read more

Pretty disappointing visit including a 45min wait in line then told that my package will not be accepted because it is after 4pm. I arrived at 3:50pm.. The line had 22 people ahead of me, with 2 Window Clerks open. The other 2-3 windows were vacant. There was an African American Supervisor helping customers with the self-service machine and she really was patient and got many customers taken care of. She needs a promotion for taking the initiative to make the service better. So my "care package" to my family member serving our Country was refused bc it was after 4pm and I needed to fill out the customs declaration. I asked the clerk if I could fill it out at the window and submit my package for mailing, even if it does go out tomorrow, she said no. So I have to come back tomorrow during my lunch break. They really should have signs saying that the FPO/APO/DCO outgoing is 4pm. I heard them tell several people in line with me that were after me. See pics of how crowded it was. read more

Love the employees here, so friendly and efficient. Even though they have to deal with huge amount of customers, long lines on Saturdays (the day I use this post office) they expedite everyone fast and without issues. I always find parking and it is very smooth in and out. This is a great post office that is open until 3 pm on Saturdays and that is a great plus for my shipping needs. Sent a rather important legal letter to the US Gov't and it never made it. Paid additional for next day delivery. First thing that bothered me was how unprofessional the owners daughter was. The line was long and all she could do was complain about the size of some guys personal member. I came in before an appointment with a business a block away. I thought to myself oh just mail these three items off and have plenty of time to grab something to eat prior to my appointment. Well.....that was my thought and 20 min later I was still at the post office waiting to be served. Luckily I was the next in line. I looked behind me the lines has formed from out to the door. I'm lucky! There were three postal clerks there. I don't know what is the hold up. I'm just glad I got my items mailed out and just enough time to get to my next appointment. The locations of this post office was in an awkward area. When I looked up for this office. The GPS lead me to their back office. I was like ugh?! This doesn't look right. To the postmaster This is the worst post office in San Diego county. To many times the employees or so called employees are not helpful rude and can't even speak well enough English to understand. Also how are you going to sell me a roll of tape to tape a box and then say you can't accept my box cause that tape is not good and will fall off. I'm never coming here again. Don't expect quick. It's the post office, after all. You will wait. And usually the wait will be at minimum ten minutes. This is my local post office, and I've been here a dozen times, probably? Mostly because the wait is so long, I'd rather go to other places to send out my mail. However, when you get certified mail, there's no other place to get it, but here. That's what has brought me here the past two times, actually. I had to pick up certified mail a few weeks ago because my mom sent me a Christmas gift and didn't want it in the mailbox. My wait was 10-15 minutes to get the package. I also HAD to send out a couple of packages as well, so I had no choice but to wait in line. Today, I walked in and moments later a woman came into the main area and said, "anyone just picking up a package" and I waved and right away was helped. If you let go of the fact that you have to wait in line, and just embrace it...the employees are friendly enough and do heir job and the wait? It's really not that bad!! read more

I made the terrible mistake of reading my return label wrong. USPS versus UPS. On the weekends there is always a line here with two or less people working. I got very lucky today, I only had about 3 people ahead of me. I just wanted to drop of my package but you have to wait in line to do so. The drop off box is only for letters no packages. They saw my label and told me it was wrong so I had to leave. I've been here several times before for other packages and needs. You can easily buy stamps, ship internationally, or ship locally. I just advise to come early and come prepared. Have everything filled out ahead of time. I usually grab extra forms when I am here so I can be prepared. Just makes everything faster. They also sell boxes, packaging accessories, and greeting cards. The staff isn't exactly the friendliest but they can you in and out. The parking lot is small, if it's filled up there is one towards the back with overflow parking. read more

Shout out to Randy! He's an awesome employee. I have shipped a lot of things through this USPS location and he is always super helpful. He helps explain the different shipping options and helps you picks the best way to ship it. He always has a good attitude and makes me feel comfortable. I really appreciate how helpful he is and wanted to recognize him and give him credit for his hard work! As far as the actual location, I've never had any major issues. They are typically really busy and I don't think they have enough staff working. Overall though this location is my favorite for where I live. read more

Constantly misdelivers packages!!! They do this ALLLLLLLLLLL the time!!!!!!!! Yesterday my package was delivered to my neighbor, and he said the mailman delivered a bunch of mail and small packages to his house - all different addresses!! I've even had packages delivered to me that are really supposed to go a few streets down!! Not even a similar house number!!! I've also had a lot of people's mail delivered to me, which I had to go and give to the rightful owners myself!!! WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THEM?? They said packages (I have 3) were delivered to parcel locker on 11:53 AM. I went home to check my mailbox at 2:06PM. No keys to access the packages and missing a mail (Bank card). So not sure if the packages were actually delivered as it says on the tracking and they placed the parcel key to a different mailbox or it was just not delivered. read more

Worst customer service and most poorly managed post offkce in San Diego. I had my mail put on hold while away on vacation and set up to be delivered by the post office upon return. I waited three days after returning but still no mail. I took my mail hold confirmatiin and showed up to this post office today to inquire about it, waited in line patiently and observed how misreable the employees are here. They treat you with a bad attitude, always complain about being there when its their day off, etc. and are super sluggish to kill time till their next break. Worst part of this establishment is their supervisors unfortinately I was unfortunate to encounter a supervisor here named ROELL - just wow ! He is so readily frustrated because he pretends to have a lot on his plate and takes it out on the customers. I was given an ultimatum by Roell- "Your mail is not here. It was delivered three days ago (never happened btw) ,thats what the carrier told me so what do you want me to say to you now ?" How about a little courtesy and basic customer service Roell ? One of the worst post offices I have ever been to. The employee there completely lied to our face. We asked that our wedding invitations be hand cancelled (not put through the machine) and were told they do not have a stamp and it would be sent to another post office for hand cancelling. He assured us that it would be done, even going so far as to showing us the box ("Non-Machinable") that he was placing the invitations in. Horrible customer service and long lines! read more

This is the first time I visited this post office. I need to mail out my tax forms and I didn't even have envolopes at home haha. There were 49 cents 6x9 document envolopes for sale. There were three employees and they were all in good spirits. One of the guys were asking and directing people what they should do. Two employees were over the counter. There were customers coming and going very quickly. The guy helping the line move was very friendly. He suggested me to use certified mail that came with tracking and signature upon receive. It was $3 for each mail. With important document I think it's well worth the $3. I was in and out in maybe 5 minutes? It was an easy and smooth process. read more

I love this post office! I'm here every day and everyone who works here is always so helpful and kind. Literally everyone. Sure, they have their moments where they are overwhelmed and have to deal with rude customers BUT the customers also have to understand some things are out of their control and the only thing they can really help you with is trying to locate your package. Once it leaves their facility it's out of their control. The employees here work well under pressure. This is the main and only post office for the ENTIRE Mira Mesa area (and some surrounding neighborhoods). I've been to other post offices where they have 1-2 people working and barely anyone in there. This post office is BUSY BUT every time I come in there I always see them trying to help make it a fast in and out process for everyone. They also try to get you the best pricing as possible for your shipments and gives you good advices on shipments. The manager / lead supervisor here is very kind as well. Again, this is a very busy location everyday, all the employees here work very well under pressure. Customers: if your packages aren't getting "scanned" because you just drop it off without getting it actually scanned it -- try scanning it in instead of just dropping off. I've had this issue before where I would just drop off (without it being scanned in) and sometimes it won't even get scanned in until it reaches its destination. Trust me, spare some time and get it scanned in to avoid delay or problems. read more

I don't know that I really need to be updating my review about the appalling service at the US Post Office in Mira Mesa ... except that it amuses me. Here are a couple recent fun times that I have had: I have a P.O. Box at this location. I keep getting mail for someone else in my P.O. Box. I write "Return to Sender - Wrong Address" on the front of the envelopes and drop them into an outgoing mail box for delivery. Guess where they end up again? Back in my P.O. Box. I asked one of the workers here what to do? He actually said for me to just throw the unwanted mail away. I told him I wanted to do the right thing and get the mail back to sender or to the correct party as it may be important. What can I do? He told me again to just throw it away. Wow. A FedEx package came to my P.O. Box and I received a slip to pick it up at the counter. I handed the slip to one of the workers and she went into the back and disappeared for a really, really long time. She came back and said she could not locate the package. She actually told me to come back the next day for someone else to help me. I told her "No, I am here now. And that package isn't going anywhere by tomorrow. I pay for this service. Please go find it." She disappeared for another really long time, and then reappeared, recruited some help (finally) and that after another really long time, they found it! Her asking me to come back the next day though ... that was unreal. In addition to the above, all the usual gripes about slow service, etc. continue to apply. read more

I've lived in Mira Mesa for over 12 years and I've never had a problem here! It makes me sad to see all of the poor reviews. This is honestly one of my favorite post offices in San Diego.
