I usually get really good service here. My ONLY complaint is that the self service machine used to make your visit faster And more convenient, has yet to work. The last time I was here, it was a long constant beep. This time it took me all the way to the payment screen, just for it not to read my card. And before anyone comes with the jokes, it happened to the person behind me as well (I had to wait and see if it worked for anyone else). Either way it goes, I wasted time at the machine and still ended up coming on the inside and standing in line behind 6 people - with 2 people at the window. Let's start with my passport appointment was canceled at the absolute last minute. 1 hour before I arrived. I come in on Wednesday to be seen, the clerk then says I don't see your name on the list, he said "I would take you if you had your passport photo" which is crazy to me because that means anybody on this day 11/27/24 would've been able to get a passport and photo appt, I called the day before to make sure everything was set, the lady assured me I would be taken care of. To be meet with this rude ass person they had "helping do passports" he said "my camera is down so even if you had one it wouldn't be able to do it today. There was no helping, no accountability, no accommodations. Listen to the reviews, do not come here to do your important business , they don't have enough people that care and this is the holiday season. Care or get a different job. read more

Welcome to "the hood." If you want your mail lost, misdirected or damaged, you have come to the right place. Don't EVER let one of the Latitias behind the counter identify you with a parcel, they will not scan it in and will steal it. It never gets delivered and you cannot collect the insurance because since they didn't scan it in as received, it's your word against theirs that they ever took possession of it. See how that works? On another occasion, I dropped a parcel off at 7pm in the drop box, 9am next morning went in asking if I could have it back due to buyer saying he didn't want item after all. The Jamal behind the counter yelled "izz gone!" I told him tracking said it hadn't been scanned in yet and he yelled "izz gone!" I said "you know this without even checking, huh?" He yelled "izz gone!" I pointed out that usually it takes 24 hours before Redford PO scans parcels in as "accepted/received" and then hours later they arrive at Detroit. "What box?" the Jamal asked and I repeated "the drop box right there." "Izz gone!" he yelled again. The next day, tracking showed they still had it at 6:44pm the day I tried to get it back, and it didn't actually leave until after 10pm. So "izz wuz NOT gone" after all... I scheduled an appointment for 9am and received a call at 7:45am being told it is cancelled. I understand things happen but this derailed my entire day and was a huge inconvenience. To cancel with such short notice means there is not enough staff, and that is a problem. My call was apologetic and not for the employee who reached out, but this review is for management to know they need more reliable workers. Knowing someone wasn't available should've happened at least the evening before and not while I'm getting ready to leave out. It make this public service unreliable and unhelpful. What it the point of tracking a package when idiots continue to deliver my packages to the wrong address? Then post it was delivered? Redford post office is the MOST RUDE and impatient place to go. I went there to mail a certified document which I have never done before so I did not know how or what to fill out. So the ugly man behind the counter just told me that "he is not going to deal with me" and tossed my envelope back in the box. Instead of trying to help me do my business and get on with the day. He just threw me aside like TRASH. How embarrassing! He is not fit to work for the public if he has no patience and finds it beneath him to try and help out a clueless customer. I used to think every post office was this mean until going to the USPS in Romulus then I realized, no It's just the one in Redford. It is definitely understaffed. If you want to ship something, you better be an expert because you will get zero help. The worker made me pay $4 for tape and then 30 secs later witnessed the worker tape a guys package for free. 1st off I call over the phone to try and figure out what been going on with my mail and why I haven't received it in over a week. I was rudely put on hold (obviously she wasn't trying to hear me). While I'm on hold for over 10mins I was able to drive there and stand in line since my call wasn't going to get answered. I was given a supervisor to talk to after the (very nice) young lady found find my mail. Supervisor asks me why I haven't talked to my mail man about not getting my mail and that I should take it into my own hands and personally wave down my mailman. -- that's a joke right? - hmmm I wonder how longs it'll take before I get a "call" about my MIA mail and packages. I came to the post office because it was the only one open on Sunday in my area. They opened promptly at noon (there were already several people waiting outside) and took care of all of us quickly and cordially. There was a gentleman working on August 4th and he was the most delightful service person I've encountered this year. That man deserves a raise and a large pizza. Also he was this pleasant on SUNDAY. This entire stuff is rude and disgusting! I walked up to a window of a bitter old women which I Greeted her Hello and this is her Job(didn't say hi back ). However I tried to get my mail because my mail man decideds to deliver my mail when HE WANTS. The lady went to the back with a attitude, left me at her glass window for 25 min to come out with nothing telling me to talk to her manager which I talk to before coming to the establishment. Worst post office. Needs new people from the top down. When you call you get put on hold and no one ever gets back to you. You go there and the clerks are rude and don't have a clue. They're always to busy. Our mail carrier never puts our out going mail flag down on our mailbox...that's Day one sh*t people. WARNING TO ALL CUSTOMERS!! If you are interested in shipping an item buying stamps or any of the many services they provide know this the staff is insignificant with lines practically out the door! And the quality of service is beyond horrendous! My son and I have had items that were lost and never shipped. That place is like the black hole of shipping! I have asked for years to please use the sidewalks. They wont but in winter if they arent shoveled you get the notice to shovel or no mail. They dont use the sidewalks ever. Horrible!!!! I mailed two pieces of mail on October 22 -- hand delivered them at the counter and even saw the clerk postmark them and THEY NEVER GOT TO THEIR DESTINATION!! One was in Dearborn and the other in Vermont. It's now November 2. How can two pieces of mail just disappear?!?! What goes on there??? One piece of mail was extremely important. I'm so mad and upset. The very definition of incompetence lives in this building. I had a package shipped from California, it arrived in Detroit's sorting facility where it sat for a day before being marked "in transit". After 4 days (5 days past the expected delivery date) my package showed "arrived in Des Moines, IOWA. I called this office, which is my local, and was promptly placed on hold for 15 minutes which is apparently their process if you look at other reviews. The woman acted like she had absolutely no idea what was going on and told me she'd call me back. After two days and no call back, my package was updated to Illinois. I called back and...you guessed it...was placed on hold for 11 minutes before speaking to someone who said she would look for my package and call me back. She called back in less than 5 minutes and said she had found my package and I could come pick it up. I told her I'd be there in 30 minutes. I drove 20 minutes there, waited in line for 10 minutes, and after another 10 minutes of everyone in the building looking for my package, THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT WAS. I asked them to call who I had spoken to and they said they couldn't reach her. I had just wasted an hour for absolutely nothing! And now I'm again stuck in limbo without a package. read more

I and my neighbors constantly have problems receiving mail properly. I and my neighbors have to redeliver mail left at the wrong address. I still haven't received my disability check that was mailed on 12/19/17, and it's January 6, 2018! I asked several residents, (based on our conversations on the community facebook page,) didn't receive mail for a week once, then all of a sudden we all had a ton of mail. Terrible service, I was expecting a package by today and made the mistake of calling to inquire about it, I was asked for a tracking number and it took me at least 15 seconds to pull it up, when I started giving it to the lady, making sure to phonetically spell out the letters, I was rudely told "hold on, hold on!" In a very snooty tone, when I then pointed out that the info given to me by their website was different (I see it as having left the black hole that is the Detroit network distribution center, she said it was in Chicago) I was rudely told "well it ain't coming today" the lady was so rude that I hung up. I've been having a hell of a time getting packages delivered, things always show up late it's getting ridiculous. I really like this post office. I think that it has awesome hours, but the lines can be long; it's literally a hit or miss. When I first came to get a PO Box, the clerks had no idea that a customer could even reserve one online, ahead of time, and it really turned out to be an inconvenient visit, having to wait 2 hours for another clerk and so on. This is the post office to go to but sometime's if your rushing, it's just not gonna happen. Overall an excellent place to work with. read more
