Went in with a package slip to see if my package was there. The slip had said "delivery attempted" & it said they would *try again*. They never came back/never got redelivered. I went online to try and "reschedule" the delivery--that wouldn't go through & it said to go to *this post office*. They tried to find my package & then proceeded to tell me Oh, you would've had to have come in within X amount of days to get it--it's now been returned to sender. I told them the slip said it was going to be redelivered & they just kept saying I should've come in sooner etc etc **as if I should have known this**. First off, the slip itself should just say Come in to this post office (and NOT say They will try to deliver again). Second, since the slip information does NOT say Please come to the post office within 2 weeks, do NOT talk to me as if this is information I obviously should have known. Very frustrating. Between lack of clear info on the slip AND that they spoke to me as if I should've known to just go to the post office (and not wait for redelivery), such a waste of my time. read more

I understand that the lady who works behind the counter hates her job, but she doesn't have to take it out on the rest of us. She was extremely rude, and when I tried asking for stamps other than Christmas stamps (because I don't celebrate Christmas) she refused to give me any. I grew up in this hood, and only come to this branch once every month or two (with today the latest visit) but I've never had a bad experience. Service perfectly fine, and today quite friendly. There can be a wait when picking up packages but never to an excessive degree in my experience. I will start off by saying that if you plan to submit your paperwork for your passport at this location - WOOSAH big time before stepping foot in here. The woman that works with the passport applications counter has to be one of the RUDEST people that I have ever had to deal with. Her attitude is GARBAGE. She has no customer service skills at all. If you ask her a question she responds so short and nasty. I do not know how USPS tolerates someone like this working at a GOVERNMENT facility. It is quite obvious that this is her day to day demeanor when so many negative reviews mention her. So I'm back about 3 & a half years later with another review for this particular post office that delivers my mail locally, on a daily basis. I want to add that this doesn't happen often as it used to, however, I also have noticed that whenever it does, it's usually a back to back occurrence on a sporadic level. I had ordered several items off of Amazon, & did receive all of them when delivered by "other delivering companies", interestingly enough. For some reason, when it involves this particular USPS post office, there's some type of "mishap or delivery issue", due to "supposedly" not having access to get inside the building I reside in, even though there are specific mailmen & mailwomen with the key to get into the front doors of the building, when coming by to deliver mail. These are designated mail employees who have the building in which I reside in, as one within their appointed mail route. Now, I had one item that was marked as "delivered" at a designated time by a USPS employee, but I never officially saw or received that package as I usually do, either downstairs within the building's stairwell entry area, or the landlady's office which is next door to the building I reside in. How can a package be marked as "delivered", when in fact it wasn't truly delivered at all? Which brings me to the high probability of some sort of inside manipulation via a systematic/organized harassment type of situation going on here. After going through this for many years, I am one to research & try to find logical/factual answers/reasons why these odd but intermittent things continue to happen sporadically, & they continue to get away with it. For one, there is something termed: "Administrative Manipulation", & "Willful Incompetence", that are tactics deployed on individuals as a form of retaliation/punishment via delay tactics & things of that nature. A very distinct form of proof that this was being purposely & strategically done to me as a form of retaliation is the fact that I spoke to a USPS customer service employee, & she confirmed while looking up the tracking number regarding my package that was marked "delivered", was deliberately sent back as "return to sender" by this particular post office here on July 19th 2021 at 3:59pm.. smh. That is not only unacceptable & wrong, but should also be considered illegal. The item in question is being refunded by Amazon, so I'm not worried about that. I'm doing this to inform anyone that comes across this review & the one before it, to realize that in certain cases, this is being done strategically/purposely in a highly coordinated/organized harassment type of way. I was here earlier today and got in line behind about 15 people and after 10 minutes, only 1 person was served. I would rate this zero stars if possible. the few times I've successfully picked up a package at this location, I feel like some grand miracle just happened, complete with double rainbows and dancing unicorns Consistently long lines, extremely rude and unhelpful "staff", disgustingly dirty premises, and an online tracking system that not only lags in updates by 24 hours, but also gives contradictory information (e.g. my package was listed as both "scheduled for redelivery" and "ready for pick-up" WTF). on my most recent visit, the woman behind the counter was mystified and affronted that I would ask such simple questions as "why was my package not redelivered when I rescheduled? does it need a signature?" she threw up her hands and told me she doesn't know such information. HELLO?!?!?!? isn't it your job to answer such queries? my advice, skip this cr@phole and walk the extra eight blocks to the 112th st office if you have to ship something. marginally better lines, but at least you don't have to smell stale urine and you may even get a smile from the staff. if you have to pick up a package there... my condolences. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would ! I understand you hate your job and you're only there for a check but some of us want our items treated with care. Especially if the box has not 1 but 4 Fragile Stickers on it. I picked up a package for my girlfriend and first of all the lady at the window was rudely directing me to another window. Once there I was quickly helped, about 3 minutes later she returns with a big box not in her hands but she was pushing it with her foot. Who does this ? At this point the box looked destroyed. As others have written, this post office has the worst staff of any establishment of any kind you will ever hope to encounter in this country. It is UNBELIEVABLE. This is NOT a typical situation at a NYC Post Office, and you should avoid this location at all costs. The women sit behind plexiglass partitions and openly taunt and mock the customers, use abusive language, and take about five minutes to do as task that should take 90 seconds. I will give a couple of examples. One time when I went up there to pick up a package, a customer was screaming at the employee behind the glass for the way she had been treated. She threatened her with physical violence and was pounding on the glass. The thing is, I had dealt with this employee before and she had treated me with absolutely zero respect, even going so far as accusing me of lying about my package being a book. This screaming went on for over fifteen minutes and the manager did nothing to resolve it. When the customer left, all of the employees started mocking her. Another time I went up to send off my taxes. It had been a colossal undertaking that year and I was thrilled to finally ship them off. I filled out all of the forms correctly and had them attached to the envelopes but the postal employee refused to take them because I had not torn them off of the envelope. She had to stamp them anyway and could have just handed them back to me through the little change window. It was the most childish power trip you can imagine and I had followed the procedure to a T as outlined on the forms and throughout the post office. She just decided to make her own rules. Unless you want to "go postal", avoid this post office. These people are seriously disgruntled and take pleasure in tormenting customers. It makes me thrilled that the USPS is utterly insolvent to the tune of $3-$4 billion a year. read more

Second, the woman who attended to me (Jamilah) is completely insane, she was rude, shouting at me and grossly incompetent. Just as the documentary Men in Black II depicts, the US Post Office is where all your neighborhood's bottom-of-the-barrel, amnesic extraterrestrials are put out to pasture. And, as legislated in HR-2156, this Manhattan Valley location employs the most hopeless cases. Notorious for its poor customer service and long lines. The stamp dispensers are usually empty or broken, the self-service machines are often jammed b/c they aren't regularly emptied, postal forms are infrequently replenished or categorized incorrectly, Priority Post boxes are usually missing, and there are no pens. Even when you arrive all packed up and ready for the self-serve domestic machine, the Orion Reject living in the receptacle is usually too drunk to properly process your package so you still wind up having to stand in line for one reason or another. Better to just walk to a functioning location like the one on Columbus and 95th whose more rehabilitated staff of intergalactic ne'er-do-wells have been more skillfully lobotomized. read more

Not only delivery does not come on time, they claim that they left a note with the tracking number which was not the case, so there was no way to even reschedule delivery. I went to the branch and wasted over 30 minutes until they located the pacakge. As others have said the worst post office I have ever been too. Plan to spend half a day waiting in line and waiting for them to find your package. The workers just talk to each other and ignore the customers, and blame you if they cant find the package. Delivery of packages are never delivered to your door if it requires a signature. After ringing my apt and buzzing the carrier in, they don't bother to deliver the package to your door, they leave an attempted delivery notice in the mailbox. Great, after sitting around waiting for a package all day I get to spend another half day trying to pick it up. Don't even think of going during there at lunch time, really what business these days closes part of their service for lunch. I'm amazed that this level of incompetence can exist to this day in a business that is loosing $. I hope they close this office and layoff all the employees, i purposely avoid choosing retailers that ship via USPS due to this P.O.'S incompetence. Also if you call you will just be put on hold for a half hour. UPS delivery is always perfect so its not like my building has some issue. read more

Avoid this post office like the plague if you can. So rude. Waiting for a package could easily take you an hour.

This post office is a nightmare come true and I'd give it no stars if that were possible. The lines are incredibly slow because very few of its many windows are open. If you need to pick up a package or certified mail be prepared to spend an hour in line at one window (be aware that this window is closed over the lunch hour, as well). If you need to pay cash for mailing, figure a half hour in line. I've been coming here for 2 years now and have yet to find a good time to avoid the lines beyond using the automated postal machine. If possible, avoid the officious Gloria with the sour disposition, usually located at one of the regular windows. She'll spoil your entire day. I'll let someone go in line before me if she's at the window that comes open when I'm first in line. By the way I disagree with the opinion this is a typical NYC post office. I've been to a good one with many available windows and much nicer employees on E. 70th. There's also a really good one in Soho. This one may not be uniquely awful, but awful it is. Since it's the only post office located anywhere near my home, I have to put up with it. read more

I checked the tracking to see where they were and it said that they attempted delivery and had no "safe place" to leave the package. Again I was home all day specifically to wait on this package. So they lied about going to my home. OK, so I went to the post office to pick it up. Guess what? They didn't have it. They said it was "downtown". Today is 2/28 and I am STILL waiting on the package. I opened an "investigation" and they closed it without telling me anything. I am telling you PLEASE save yourself the stress, headaches and just bad juju by going to this mess. Had to pick up a package here that I got a peach slip for on a Wednesday, around noon, queue in the wrong line was something like 8 minutes long, then the postal worker told me I had to go to window 10/11 for pickups, waited another 5 minutes in line for 10/11, and was able to pick up the package, wait wasn't bad, but may be on other days, still faster service than other POs I have been to and it was easy enough to get the package held at the PO online. And, as a side note, I am bummed I was sent over to 10/11 bc the main line window I ended up with had this totally cool geode n shiny rock display assembled by the teller that I wanted to look at, fun. read more

I have been going to this post office for over 50 years. It has always been horrible with rude workers. On occasion, I will be treated decently by some of the clerks, but usually, they seem unhappy to be working there and it shows. Attitude on steroids. I have seen some people get treated really horribly by the clerks who are behind the protective plexiglass. I am sure it is there for good reason. Because the clerks feel they can do or say anything to with no consequences. The service is slow and forget it if you have to pick up a certified letter, bring something to read! Although I live just around the corner from a post office on Columbus, I have to go to the Cathedral Station post office at 104th to pick up packages because I am zoned for this location. Everytime I have visited this post office I have left close to tears. The service is extremely slow. I have never spent less than 30 minutes in line. The employees are very nasty. One woman was even told to take her service dogs outside and the postal workers refused to look at her license for the dogs when she presented them. I also recently had to file a claim on a broken package. I have had more packages arrived with broken items since I moved to this location 4 months ago than I have in every other place I have ever lived combined. Incompetent AND rude. I had a terrible experience here on a Saturday morning trying to get a few money orders and a stamp. The woman who helped me ("G. Meadows") was SO RUDE when I accidentally came to her window several moments after the previous guest had left but before her light is on. I greet her with a smile and say hi, good morning: "YOU CAN READ THE SIGN, RIGHT?" And she proceeds to yell at me for walking up to her too quickly. "But you're here now -- but that's how it works." Jesus. Thanks, random woman, for this tremendous favor you're doing me. I want to be here as much as you do. Then she charged me the wrong amount for my money order. Awesome. A shame, because this place is really convenient for me. I guess I'll just stick to using the self-service machines from now on. read more

The single manager for this and the other 10025 Post Offices surely can do better staffing the locations (the ratio of people on line:staff at 95th and Coumbus is invariably 10:1) and having mail delivered. We live in 10025, and the mail usually arrives late afternoon/early evening. read more

I would give this USPS zero stars if I could. I was served by a woman called Robie (I think), who has a serious attitude problem. She became verbally abusive towards me simply because I asked her whether I could buy packing tape from USPS or if I had to go outside and buy it from a store. I didn't understand her first response, so I said something like, "I'm sorry, can you repeat that? I didn't hear you." She replied, "I JUST TOLD YOU - you can buy it HERE. One of the better post office experiences I've had in the city. The workers are pleasant (gasp!) and fast - so the line moves pretty quickly. One of the best features in here is the self serve kiosk. I can ship a package without human contact (double gasp!) so that makes me happy. read more

They point and grunt at customers and then just talk to each other the entire time they are "helping" you. When they do speak to you they sound annoyed and/ or speak to you like a child. Everyone here was pleasant and not rude at all...which is a lot to say for a post office (a NYC one at that). However, I'm knocking off stars because I was given so much wrong information. I came here for an expedited passport. The black lady with glasses at the passport window informed me that because I had an ID that was less than 6 months old and an out of state one, that I would need to present a debit card (which I had). However, because I needed it rushed, I had to have a witness with me that knew me for more than 2 yrs (which I also had). However, my witness had a 5 yr passport. She said it had to be 10 years. I sucked it up and decided to try again the next day. I went to the post office the next day on West 38th street and was basically told that 1. I didn't need a debit card because debit cards don't even supply that much identification information to begin with. My regular state ID was fine. 2. I didn't even need a witness. 3. The fees the lady told me about express mail and yada yada were also very off as well. Either one location is lying or another knows what they're talking about. Either or, I ended up applying and mailing my passport app at the location on 38th in less than 15 mins without any issues. read more

If I could give this post office less than 1 star, I would. Unbelievably terrible. There seems to be a general malaise among all the workers and even the management (I spoke to someone else in line who's spoken to a manager before and witnessed the same rude, detached service as you get from the people working behind the counters). Watching one of the workers yell at an elderly woman who was confused by the automated signature system was really sad. I was, quite literally, afraid of the man behind the counter when it was my turn to turn in my parcel slip. And yet, we have no recourse that I know of - writing a letter to the management would solve little, since they don't care, and USPS online doesn't seem to have any options for providing feedback on post offices.
