First things first! This post office is so very close to my apartment, my workplace, and my therapist's clinic. A huge win-win in my opinion. I rarely have much of a wait, if any, whenever I visit this post office. The postal workers are quick to help, efficient, and helpful. Unfortunately, not generally the experience I've had at other regional post offices. A few years ago, I used their passport service and it was a breeze. Did not take as long as I thought it would. Easy to schedule without a long wait for my appointment. Highly recommend making this post office regular stop when needed. I certainly have! This is one of the very, very few places I have been in the past 3 weeks. First, I want to THANK YOU for putting out a bin for prepaid mail. This was my major -1 star for this location. The three windows are small and even though I have been told many times I can just drop off my package, the customers in line do nothing but complain and express hostility when I have done so because I'm "skipping the line" :(. Second, FANTASTIC job at being safe! They have marked off designated waiting spots, sealed off the assistant windows except for a section to slide a letter or small package through, and put up signs regarding sanitizing. I visit this location very often as I live nearby. All the employees are pretty cool and friendly; when there is no one around they are happy to chat. This is my "home" post office and I prefer going here because of the neighborhood camaraderie atmosphere among the employees and customers. Not between the customers themselves, that is definitely an aspect patrons should work on! 3/5 stars for customers - you need to be respectful and nicer to your fellow Shorewoodians!! I've lived in Riverwest for 7 years, and this is the best post office in the area. Staff is always polite and efficient. (Sometimes the Bayside location can be very curt and impatient with customers.) Street parking is always available on the front or to the right. I love supporting USPS instead of private corporations. read more

Stamps, packages, shipping, receiving, PO boxes and on and on. It's a post office. Nothing special about it aside from the building being an architectural landmark. Service is solid as most of my post office experiences have been thus far. Easy in and out and easy parking. Couldn't ask for much more. read more

The Shorewood Post Office has the best clerks of any post office I have been to. I miss the one clerk that retired back in 2018. Jennifer and Dan, the other two clerks are so friendly and do everything to get my packages to their destination in a timely matter. Here are some thoughts that cross my mind while I'm at this Post Office: There's decent street parking, I hope I get out of here in 15 minutes... I don't want a ticket. I wonder if that woman lives in Whitefish Bay, Shorewood or Glendale? I've only been in line for ten minutes, and I'm next! That wheelchair ramp is a pretty steep incline. The ladies behind the counter sure are pleasant. What a lovely government establishment, it looks old. They send your goods from one place to another, in a relatively small amount of time, how cool. Basically, everything that Ivy B said. 1. This post office is pretty dang small, so if there's a line it can get a little weird in there. "Hi, stranger. I can feel you breathing on my neck. It's creeping me out. I know you don't mean to, but maybe don't breathe for a minute." 2. Street parking's convenient, but if it's busy inside, you better mind those Fascist with a capital EFF parking checkers. (She sort of said this already but I'm saying it again because FASCISTS.) 3. The mailboxes outside - of which there are an ample number - advertise pretty "late in the day" pick up times. Note and file for all you procrastinators out there... It took me years of driving down Capital to realize that there was a Post Office here. I've stopped in here a few times to drop off packages for work. It is cool that it is in an older building with parking out front or on the side street. Once you walk up the stairs and enter into the building there is a very small ledge for you to fill out any forms that you may need. There isn't the best line system with 2 windows open and not a good place to leave parcels that are all prepared. The whole inside is PO boxes all around besides one small wall with the windows for you to speak with a representative. All of the posters and inside are extremely dated and very clustered in there. It is fine to drop off mail yet wouldn't like it to fill out forms or be at when it is busy since it takes forever just with two people in line. read more

If it was possible I would give the post office no stars. I was expecting a package from Amazon and it was to be delivered by the USPS. To my surprise the tracking updated and said the package was delivered at 1:03 PM. I NEVER get my mail delivered that early. When I went to look for the package it was nowhere to be found. The Shorewood postmaster spoke to the mail carrier about my missing package and of course he claimed that he delivered it. So this is how the post office conducts an "investigation". They talk to the person who is responsible for the failure to do their job. That was it! Of course the mailman is going to claim he delivered it although he never did. This was a small package and could have been put in my mail slot or left between the front door and screen door like other packages. But as I said, IT WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER DELIVERED!!! read more

Consider this amazing experience! On June 12, 2020 I went to the Shorewood Post Office ill prepared with no small change and I knew I only need a few cent postage. I presented a $10.00 bill with an apology and smile. In turn, the sweet female employee ( I apologize I don't know your name and you didn't sign your letter ) reached into a jar and took .04 cent out for my stamp. That type of customer service is amazing to begin with, but the story gets better. Two days later I received a letter that explained a customer behind me said they found $10.00 on the social distancing chair in front of the window. The employee correctly assumed it was my $10.00 and mailed it to me based on the address on my letter. Your kindness is truly appreciated and I plan to pay it forward in two parts. The worst service I have ever got in the United Staes. The staff lack basic knowledge how to fill out forms, substitute mail carriers that do not bother to read either the name of the addressee or the correct address and deliver packages to strangers, torn envelopes and crammed mail, overnight mail is more than 3 days delivery. I am very disappointing and there is no one to complain. phone calls are not answered for hours if any. There is no supervisor to hear customers and no motivation to improve whatsoever.
