I've lost count of how many times the postman has put mail in a place other than our mailbox

This is the worst postal service I've ever experienced. They continuously mix up mail and packages. One neighbor and I deliver each others mail to each other on a regular basis. They rip packages by shoving too many into our small box. Instead of putting packages that are too big for our small box into one of the bigger boxes specifically for packages, they just cram it in our small box which tears the packaging or smashes the items inside.They have also delivered the wrong packages to us, and delivered mine to a neighbor. When they lose one of our packages, their response is 'sorry', It's not a real apology, it is 'you're out of luck' getting help from them to find or replace the lost package. read more

Had an item supposed to be delivered November 1 on November 1, at 8 o'clock I get an update saying customer requested a hold. Never ask to be held lies.Went the next day to pick it up nowhere to be found they call the supervisor on the phone for an hour just tell me it will be delivered by Friday supposed to be delivered on Monday. read more

US Post Office - Do not understand what they're doing it got to the destination then I went out back again and then lost - Post Offices Near Me - Lynden, Washington

Other than Dan at the counter this post office is horrible! Our mail is put in wrong slot, we never know when to expect the mail and seem to have no regular carrier, they put small packages in the big box then put the wrong key in ours so we cannot open it, AND yesterday we had 5 boxes delivered to our front porch in plain site OVER the BIG note we have specifically asking that all packages are put into the large carton we have on the other end of the porch out of sight! In a few months we will be gone for 2 months and in the past they have lost our mail, not delivered it for over 10 days after we get back and try to restart it. One year we tried to have it forwarded...that night mare was even worse! No wonder they are losing business. read more

As a new resident, and from out of State, the postal clerk was very nice and helped me with how to find my mailbox and where to pickup the key, and answered all my questions. This is all new to me. read more

Most of the shops and business's along front street are wonderful, good customer service, friendly staff, etc. Sadly that didn't pass on to this small post office. The building itself is a great little heritage building, quite pretty inside, very old fashioned. They have a good layout as far as all the boxes and envelopes on display are easy to get to, and an area to fill out postage slips, etc. However, the staff leave a lot to be desired. I've always been of the firm belief that any sort of public service/government worker has a duty to be courteous and polite to the public. (after all, they are the ones who pay their salaries!), I'm not talking about rude customers, but those of us just trying to mail a simple package! I sell a lot on eBay, so I am in the post office a couple times a week. I have never once asked them to tape something, they have never had to fix or edit something, I prepay my postage and print off the slip, all they have to do is double check that I have the right postage, and toss it on the pile of mail waiting to go out. The other day I was in there, and ran out of tape just as I was finishing putting the label on my box. I needed, at the most, 2 inches of tape to cover the one corner. I asked the man at the counter if he could do it for me, and I asked nicely. Apparently that was too much for him to handle, I got eyes rolled at me, a raised voice informing me and the other 8 people waiting in line, that I was more or less an idiot. He made a mocking comment about me to the woman working next to him, they both had a good laugh. Shoved my package back at me and told me to go buy tape. I would have had NO problem with buying more tape, if he had simply told me the rules prevented him from taping peoples parcels. (which I was not aware of). Instead I got mocked, a voice raised at me, embarrassed and treated like a naughty child. Usually they are just a bit gruff and I get more or less ignored when I go in, which I'm fine with, I go in there to mail things, not to have a chat. I always seem to get the same man, so maybe it is just him. But it left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

The person above is not alone in her bad service. How a Christian town gets Christianity so wrong is beyond me... I went in last month to update my address. My business partner and I had just sold our business and we were individually updating our information on our own time since we both had busy schedules. I went into the post office and asked the clerk about a change of address form. I got it, sent it in and was denied. My business partner was not. Odd...we had filled out the same form, the same way, for the same address change. I went in expecting this to be an easy mixup. BOY WAY I WRONG!!!! Apparently the clerk in line was having a very bad day. I went to the window and asked told her the problem. She didn't understand what I meant to I explained it again and asked if I needed to speak to the Postmaster. She became very flustered and frustrated, exclaiming, "Everyone is being so mean, today." I told her I was sorry she was having trouble but that I hadn't raised my voice or gotten upset. I again asked if I needed to see the Postmaster instead. She curtly told me to wait in the corner. The Postmaster finally showed himself and I was ushered into a very cool, very quaint private office with the Postmaster. It took 15 minutes to explain to him that I was not an employee but a CO-OWNER of the business. He chastised me condescendingly for using my business address as my mailing (which my business partner had also done for years with no trouble). I gave him the old and new addresses and he then checked the new address in his magical computer. He then informed me that no address changes had taken place at the addresses I had given, either old or new, and that I was "mistaken." Very frustrated and embarrassed I asked why then had my business partner, a man, have no trouble with this same address change? He seemed to think this person was my boss and that he had accomplished this through a legal channel like his lawyer or something. Apparently in Lynden women can't own businesses, be professional anything and don't have oxygen going to their brains. I called back to complain and the clerk whom answered was kind in tone, but claimed no one had done anything wrong. She remembered me, she said, and recalled that the Postmaster was "really nice" to me. How do you know since we were in a closed office? Alone? Private? No one else, including you, was in the room? I was not given an option to leave a message for the Postmaster and no apology was given. The next day my business partner went to the Postmaster and with one, "I authorize this change" he got my information changed easily. No fuss, no address check, no questions asked. I have taken the time to write the Postmaster General about the terrible service I received. Grow up, guys. It's 2015. Treat women, people of color and all minorities the same as you would want to be treated or have fun being the villain for the rest of your lives. No one wants the villain guys. read more

I was a landlord and had to mail a lot of certified letters and things through the years at this post office to comply with legal requirements. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. In 28 years, I have never had a problem with the employees inside the post office; quite the opposite, they have been so friendly and helpful that it brightened my day. The only reason I did not rate it with 5 stars is because my mail delivery to my house has been troubled by occasional delivery to the wrong address. The postmaster has been very helpful and understanding, works hard to track down the problem and resolve it, and is a pleasure to work with. But that is my only complaint. Whoever the particular carrier is on my route sometimes delivers my mail to my neighbors and their mail to me. read more

I bought a home in Lynden Nov 2017 and did not experience any problems with my mail delivery until this last couple of months. Different delivery lady due to the route being adjusted. Yesterday was the 3rd piece of mail that was not delivered. 2 were utility bills that were not delivered last month making me a month behind. I pay my bills as they arrived but am now having to write out a chart to check off. One priority mail last month was important legal papers which just disappeared. I spoke to the mail carrier and she said she delivered it but also said she confuses my street name with another one. I have also seen her driving too fast in our housing track and had my mail thrown to the back of my box mostly last month. I am calling the post master again but once a man answered and then 2 different people who I suspect were postal workers covering for the carrier. Told to get a locking box. They suggested someone was stealing my mail. I don't believe there's enough room and I just bought this box because the carrier complained and wanted a new one. The little handle was gone. The other carrier didn't have a problem and it was on my list after immediate repairs to the house. Maybe they6 should deal with the carrier and give her a smaller area. read more

Because of proximity, I have used USPS offices in this area for years, Blaine, Sumas, and Lynden, about evenly split. During this period. Lynden USPS managed to have screwed 2 packages. 1 international package went missing for 15 days before they could locate it. By which time, I had had to ship out a replacement at 500USD cost already. And what they told me upon hearing that? Because it was international, they could not stop it. A second time, a prepaid box dropped off behind their secure window, never to be heard or seen again. Tracking shows they never had it. Another 120 gone. I dropped off 2 boxes on the occasion, the other no surprises. Most of us would expect in life that incompetent and dumb people make it up with some nicety. To salvage whatever left of their redeem-ability, so to speak. Not this particular place. There are several characters at this office who are proficient and prolific at the rarity of inspiring profound exasperation and repulsion in equal measure. They never miss anything on this one though, and they do this one fast, usually well before finishing the first sentence out of mouth or before drawing next breath. Mind you, they take great pride and joy in it too. (Blaine and Sumas offices diametrically opposite, professional if also helpful, and courteous) read more

This post office is great! The workers work hard everyday making sure the mail keeps going where it needs to go. I have never had bad service at this location and they have gone above and beyond to help with everything from ?s, address changing, holding mail, finding mail, sending mail ect. I love this location and the staff here. We all have bad days and sometimes people are rude and demanding to these employees which is not right so maybe being nice saying HI smiling and giving a THANK YOU to them would help your experience be great and take a moment to put yourself in there shoes it's not an easy job and next time your in line look and listen not all people are nice to them. So thank you employees for all that you do for us so that we can get and send mail! read more

I went in to mail something for the first time. They were extremely blunt to the point no smiles not friendly at all, which is fine, if your a grumpy person you don't have to pretend you are not. But the thing that really got me was the lady there asked my if it was fragile and I said yes very, so she proceeded to stamp it with and fragile stamp and then literally threw it to the bins behind her. Needless to say the person that I mailed it to told me everything was completely broken. read more

Well, I was going to call the postmaster regarding an incident with one of his employees but after reading these reviews, I will not. Yesterday I walked to the post office (not a short walk) in the pouring rain to pick up a letter. I walked through the door and was the only one there. After waiting a short while, a staff member came to the counter and asked , "Can I help you?" I gave her my parcel notification so that I could pick up my letter. She came back with my letter, keyed some information in the computer and asked, "Can you please sign and print your name inside the box?" I signed my name. Again she asked, "Please sign and print your name inside the box?" (repeated exactly the same as before with same tone and fluctuations in her voice). I signed my name. A third time she asked, "Can you please sign and print your name inside the box?" I signed my name a 3rd time and as I'm signing, I remark, "Oh" as I realize that she has been asking me to print my name as well all this time. So, as I am printing my name, she asks a fourth time, (in the slowest voice she possibly could so as to let me know how clearly stupid she though I was), "Can......you.....please.....sign.....and.....print.....your.....name.....inside.....the.....box?" By the time I finished printing my name, she was still continuing to ask me in the above question in her most condescending, you are a complete moron voice. I just looked at her. I wanted to say, "Well, because I am clearly and idiot and entirely too stupid to pick up a letter at the post office, you can keep my letter and I will send my husband, who is much more intelligent then I to pick up this letter and your can deal with him after I explain to him how utterly rude and disrespectful you treated me." I just left. All this miserable woman had to say after the first time I misunderstood her instructions is, "Oh, you forgot to print your name as well." But she didn't. She chose to make a spectacle of me and make me feel like an idiot. Why a person of this character is allowed to work with the public is beyond me. I am so disgusted by her treatment that just typing this review is making me angry all over again. read more

This place doesn't even deserve the one star. I remember a time years back when there were some nice people employed at this post office. The old woman hack working in this place now must have a serious protracted case of the piles or something..... read more
