I had to track down a back-door number from a friend, and when I did finally get ahold of someone, they couldn't help me because I don't have a tracking number. Maybe you are not aware that this is a very small location and is a one person show. The office is only open 6 hours M-F and closes for one hour each day for lunch. The employee who works there is in no way incompetent and is liked by all the customers. There is no "back-door" number to this office. So, think about it, one employee providing service to customers at the retail counter and by phone in a small town that has provided the best service I have ever experienced in a rural town, might have actually been busy. I would be curious as to how and where you get your USPS financial info from, last time I heard they were taking business from UPS and Fed-Ex and outperformed them again last year. And yes it can be frustrating that the USPS only tracks packages with a "Tracking Number", but that is why they tell you to hang on to your receipt, and is one of the many reasons they are cheaper and provide better, timely service than their competitors.

Most people arrive just to drop off packages and only require a scanning, but because they only have 1 worker/register open, especially during rush hour (lunch and after standard work times), the line builds up and moves SO slow. That said, the workers here have always been friendly and it never is their fault for this--it's a management/ownership problem. With the actual UPS-owned location closed out by the airport, do you really have any other choice other than this place? No. So I recommend coming here during the early or mid morning if you can when there's less of a crowd/line.

This is a very unprofessional branch of the US Postal Service. First, the clerks at the Pendleton office move in slow motion. Once you go to the front of the queue, there is a lack luster "greeting" and questions are answered with obviscation leaving out essential helpful facts. I understand that this is an institutional workplace, but I think they just stand there and take there pay without any consideration to provide actual, helpful service. I purchased a home and I wasn't informed that mail went to a corner deposit box. I had gone into the branch 3 or 4 times because the box on my house was empty of mail for weeks. It was only after speaking to someone the 3rd or 4th time that I was asked if I had a key to the deposit box. This was news to me. But once I dug through my keys that were left for me, I had no idea where the box was... they left that part out. Can you understand how someone new, might need more information? She told me I needed to pay $40 to get a new key, but that proved to be false. I had to get a refund by money order because of information I was told that was incomplete. What do you do with a money order? I went back and asked to cash the $40 money order and was told she didn't have enough cash in her register. I asked to speak to the supervisor, but she was having a chat fest over on the side... I could see them. Then everyone disappeared. I stood there for 5 more minutes and no one came out. I left the post office very angry for how I was treated. Every time I go there, it is a problem and they are not helpful. They laugh at you and think you are stupid, or you are the problem. They have no idea what people do in grocery stores or hardware stores where the work is complicated and hard, but you still smile even at less pay. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highly rated, the front staff is a 1. I have been there 4 times since moving to Pendleton and everytime it is a problem. I am 67 years old and I have NEVER encountered such a Postal branch. Congress is considering turning the post office over to a contractor because they run so much in debt... I think they should do it.

We went up to the counter and said we need to drop this off and that was it is already paid. He immediately got annoyed and said there was no shipping label. We turned the package around to show him the label because why would we drop off a pre-paid package with no label? He then got even more annoyed because he said he could barely read the label. He took out his scanner and dramatically tried to scan the label and complained it wouldn't scan. Instead of being helpful he was extremely rude to us about the label. Also he said he could not take the package because he couldn't scan it, but he could've just manually entered the numbers. This really made me mad because he was extremely rude and over dramatic about the package, instead of helping us fix the problem.

I have talk to this UPS so called delivery man and told him to put ALL packages on my front porch. He told me that legally the door outside the fence is our front door. The employee of this facility was scatterbrained that day. My partner was sending two packages to his kids back east. She made an error on both of their addresses and had to re-print the labels for both of those packages. I Was on my way to a doctors appointment. I was excited about sending off the packages but only to discover that my son's package was delivered to the wrong address.. Here's the best part calling UPS call-center eight times and only told that within the hour UPS would contact me to tell me where my packages and never received one phone call from nobody. And it even gets better, The driver that was delivering my sons package in Nevada handed it to some random woman without asking for verification such as the name on the package or proof that she lived there. Just handed it to her.
