Rating only a 1 with me, and the 1 is only because sometimes I get my mail. I was not surprised to see such negative reviews, for my review is also a negative review. I have more packages not make their way to me because Kalama Post Office can't seem to do things in a organized, effective way. I have how ever received others mail and packages Thank God I'm an honest person and have always made sure the appropriate mail gets to where it should. Unfortunately If the post office screws up with my packages I don't even get as much as a courtesy call back or an apology. What good is it to reschedule a package redeliverly then it just sits at post office because mail person says no good place to leave it. I literally have 2 enclosed decks. Lol... Lazy more like it. Not to mention when I call the post office directly the line is busy ALL DAY. Either a lot of screw ups or they don't want to deal with the customer wanting their mail/packages. I was inquiring about a package I was expecting and I felt I was treated very rudely when I called with a question, and when I went in there to talk to her in person. She kept repeating the same three sentences over and over and over, not paying attention to my question and then accusing me of losing keys and not picking my mail on time! I said I know nothing of what you are talking about! If there is a problem, why hasn't the mailman let me know? Oh they wouldn't. Then how can I correct a problem, if I don't even know there is a problem?! Anyway, I made a call to the company, and apparently they made a mistake in that they hadn't sent the product to me yet! We need to treat each other with respect. There was no reason for her to be so nasty to me. And "listen". . . she kept repeating that the key etc. was in my box. Yes I said. I picked that up yesterday. . . . she wasn't on my page. . . she wasn't helpful, and she wasn't listening to my questions, and I feel that she was very rude. You don't need to treat a customer like that! She started threatening me, that if I don't pick up my packages, that they won't deliver them anymore, etc. etc. Had no idea there was such animosity or such a problem with me! If things are as bad as she says they are (even though you do not have your listening ears on) you need to let the party know. Oh no, she says, we don't do that. Oh you just say nothing and complain to one another? That's mature! She doesn't know if there has been any traumas that have happen recently where I could not pick up my mail DAILY. . . .(and there have been!) and she didn't have to be as nasty as was. I live in Maine, and recently ordered gifts from Amazon for family in Kalama. Unfortunately the packages were undeliverable, and I received multiple messages from Amazon to contact the carrier facility where the packages were being held. Excited for my daughter to get her gifts, I called the Kalama post office to ask for assistance. My cheerful mood quickly disappeared as I spoke to a woman who was clearly reluctant to help me. Although the packages are available to be picked up, I received an angry lecture on my future mailings and dealing with this post office. With any luck, I'll NEVER have to contact this unpleasant woman again! read more

Sooo I just got charged 3$ to pick up a package that had NO POSTAGE due. Apparently the Kalama Post office is going to charge if a package has a St address rather than a PO box address. Horrible service! The Postmaster is a nightmare, VERY rude and not helpful at all. We are moving to Kalama and have tried to get information on how to get our mailbox set up. Every time we talk to the Postmaster she is extremely rude, I think she should find something else to do... maybe sort the mail and not deal with the public. Terrible customer service. Constant lost (stolen) mail and packages with no accountability. Even if tracking is provided verifying delivery this office will not take responsibility of lost stolen packages. The postal inspector is incompetent and vile to communicate with. Staff is ill equipped due to poor training and have not been vetted to prevent theft. We mail thousands of the same package out every week. The process for this exact item was set up directly with the post office. For some reason, this postmaster in Kalama, WA is unaware of shippo and the services they offer and have worked with the US Government to put it together. So she tried to collect an additional $8.76 postage on a prepaid package. Then she told me that despite me sending out over 100, 000 of these throughout the US in the past year, all the same, and never having an issue, she knows more than everyone else and is right! read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star!!!!!! I want everyone to know you are in for a challenge if you build a house and want to install your mailbox. You MUST follow this procedure and will be reminded of step 2 after every single question. 1) Put a steak where you think it should go 2) Go into the PO with your Certificate of Occupancy and PUT YOUR NAME ON THE BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or else! 3) Wait for them to getting around to it and looking at the location you think it should go. If they don't like where you put you will have to repeat steps 1-3 all over again. 4) Say your prayers and hope you will get your mail delivered!!! good luck!!!!! *****update****************************************************************** Soooo.... the location we selected was approved after the 2nd attempt! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!!! She called to tell me with a reminder: IT HAS TO BE THE RIGHT HEIGHT! 5) Install your mailbox according the the illustration given to you when you put your name on the board. 6) Call her back and let her know and wait for your 2nd approval. I am 62 years old and have lived in many areas that rely on post office services and the Kalama Post Office is by far the worst! I have had overnight packages delivered to neighbors locked mailboxes. Mailboxes that at the time we're only being checked every other week due to absentee residents. Recently, my mailbox had in excess of ten pieces of mail that didn't belong to me. They all belonged to a neighbor several boxes down, on the opposite side of the road. The house number wasn't even close! I never thought I would admit to loving a Post Office. Usually the best you can expect from the dear old USPS is a situation very similar to the 'Soup Nazi' in Seinfeld. Everyone miserably standing in line in some communist type fashion fantasizing of what type of miserable human being the postal worker may be. Not here! In Kalama, there is no line. GASP! What? You say no line? Yes, there is no line to be found. This must be what it's like to be a celebrity if you had your own post office. Need a PO Box? No problem! They have you covered. Considering Kalama is a town that everyone past a certain address won't get postal deliveries you are required to have one. A couple of the employees - the Tina's - Christina and Tina are absolutely over the top friendly and amazing. I suggest saving up your years worth of mail that you need to send and consider taking a trip to Kalama. It is worth it! read more

I love our post office and the full staff. We've been here 20+ years and were first put off by the idea of no street delivery available and having to have a Post Office Box. Didn't take long to figure out a PO box was a lot better than street delivery. always dry, always available, no chance of being riffled by neighbors. I know the post office will not care, but they have returned mail to the sender because someone forgot to put #628 on it, I have lived at my home for three years am I supposed to believe they do not know my name belongs to PO Box 628 instead of returning my mail it just takes a little thought on their part. Today I was notified by Amazon a package was there for me, it arrived at the post office at 5;54 this morning and was out for delivery at 9:08. The issue is the post office doesn't deliver where I live so drove down there at 1;30 and they cannot find the parcel. They lost one last week, never has been found. This is the worst post office i have dealt with in my life. I am 64 by the way, and have dealt with different areas. The customer service is terrible, the mail delivery is terrible, I have found mail on the ground, not delivered, and the Post master is not worth dealing with. If they were in another business other than the government would have been fired. My only resolution is having a PO Box in Woodland where the mail service is excellent. They refuse to deliver my prescription yo my po box because the pharmacy put my physical address.... the pharmacy even called them and told them to put it in my po box.... They went online and redirected and she still won't but it in my box! read more

Horrible customer service! The short lady with the very short red/brown hair who works in both the post office as well as backup delivery is so rude! She came into our place of business this morning and had an awful attitude with me because she had to walk 40 feet from the parking lot into our the front door of our building. I asked her to wait 5 or less seconds so I could get our outgoing mail for her and she snapped at me "It needs to be up here and ready to go!" I advised her, it is ready to go, its just outside my office door. She angrily snatched it from me and trudged out of the lobby doors to her car. I watched her walk off shaking her head, she then slung our outgoing confidential business mail into the backseat of her car from standing 2 feet out of her car door - I'll bet you nothing made it into her postal box. I plan on filing a complaint with the Postmaster today, though I doubt that will do much good either. This same delivery woman has been super rude in the Kalama Post office itself, horrible customer service!!!!! With so many friendly people looking for a job, I don't know why you can't hire someone with a better attitude. Drain the pond. FYI: Our normal postal delivery guy is very patient. Quit sending this lady out for delivery if she's going to continue acting this way. read more
