The delivery people keep breaking my mailbox, tearing the thing off because they don't know how to close it. They keep leaving notes in my mailbox saying they can't deliver because they're too lazy to get out of their cars and take it over to the front door and leave it on the bench. It's really sad. We pay these people so much money and they can't do their jobs. read more

While living in Astoria, this was our post office. We were in the area during the COVID pandemic and during that time, Yelp has counted me visiting 10 times. My visits were mostly dropping off packages (boxes and envelopes); once I needed my mail to be dated, and in addition to dropping off packages, I purchased tape. When COVID kicked off, social distancing was enforced. Though the line looked long, it was just the spacing in between the customers. I've never seen it snake around the post office or see it reach outside. Wait time varied. All depends on: the day of the week; time; customers and their errands; and employees working. Middle of the day during the work week seemed the quickest. One thing I didn't like about this post office is the parking provided. Only street parking! So if it gets busy you could be going around the block for a bit, or park further and walk. I also don't like parallel parking. It can be stressful since the front of the post office is on the main road going into downtown Astoria, so you know there's a possibility for a lot of vehicles coming this way. I've only had one incident where an employee's advice was very helpful. I came in to return a product, had it sealed up with the postage information and as the employee rang it up, she mentioned to us the cost of it which was basically the same price as the product (probably more, it was going international). Once I realized that, I decided not to send it off, because if I did, I'd still be losing money. Flat rate boxes I've sent to Hawaii reached the recipient in a timely manner if not sooner! Honestly, I was amazed with that. I thought those packages would've been delayed. One time, the street address on my package was a Hawaiian word, the lady looked at it and asked how to pronounce it. I did and we laughed. Started talking about all the unusual street names she'd seen. I've also sent out a few media mail and so far they did not get lost! Employees I've encountered were friendly or indifferent. Just Another day right? read more

I had box not delivered when filled out another delivered day they also didn't deliver it they said it was to heavy we had to run down the carrier and she didn't bring it again so we went to go get it we drove around the building no one would j would help they throw my boxs outside the doors and left it when I came back a man was taking my box really great service nay it's time to close post office that don't have any costumes service the wrist read more

Ignore the salty 1 and 2 star reviews left because someone's vibrator didn't show up the day they were expecting it. This is a beautiful little post office and the employees are absurdly friendly. Feels like the kind of place that exists in a quaint little movie. I love visiting Astoria and have a PO Box there as I visit so much, and anytime I need to ship things or buy stamps the women at the counter are incredibly friendly. Come to Portland if you want to see what a unprovoked hostile USPS interaction looks like lol I'll take the Astoria USPS all day, every day. read more

It would be nice if they answered the phone instead of having a recording that says you will be connected to the next available agent, then five minutes of ringing before it cuts off. Our mail was partially delivered to the house next door and partially not delivered at all yesterday. Wanted to ask what we could do. Will go down to the post office to try to find out. read more

This is got to be the biggest bullshit excuse I have heard! Waiting on a package waiting on a package it shows up" awaiting delivery"?!? what the hell is that? I finally contact them they never contacted me. They said let me look into it. Called me back about an hour later saying oh that was a male carrier not a male carrier anymore. He should've never been here in the first place what kind of excuses is tha PERIOD!!! I said where is my package? Did he steal it? Your guess is as good as mine. That's not how Post-office is supposed to work shorthanded or not shorthanded not my problem. The answer was this person should've been working there in the first place you hired him so now I'm out Vintage fog lights because you should have hired somebody in the first place, this is utterly ridiculous. I've heard a lot of excuses from Post-office. I'm out over $200 because it was in the box and decided to steal my package. I've never been so in my life you can't deliver the package leave me a letter I'll come down and get it. They were so quick to one to close the case , which dumbfounded me just makes me think even more that somebody there just stole the package because they knew it was inside of it! funny that they see this male carrier was fired. He's on the same route just doesn't come by my house anymore. Can you tell me what's wrong with that picture? Somebody doesn't do something about this Post-office it's already gone to hell a handbasket all these people on the streets and Astoria nobody wants to work it's pathetic, I want to know what happened to my package somebody's gonna be driving around my fog lights on their truck I guarantee it!! Contrary to the one negative review, this Post Office is excellent. Staff have been nothing but friendly and helpful, whether in person or on the phone. They've always gone the extra mile for me, when any issue has arisen - and there have been a few, mostly due to rotating or lackluster carriers. Having moved here a couple of years ago from a very large city in which the Post Offices were overwhelmingly staffed with dismissive and lackadaisical employees, I believe that the small town folks here lack perspective of what constitutes 'horrible service'. I actually live in Astoria...the post office staff is helpful but the rural delivery is HORRIBLE!!! have lived in the community for 30 years and over the last several years the staffing on rural routes has become nothing we can count on...USPS needs to get it together and provide better service for rural customers.... read more

I have lived in Astoria for a year now and visiting the Astoria post office at 750 Commercial Street is one of my fun trips downtown. A delightful historic building with excellent customer service. The staff have corrected and looked up addresses for me, made a thorough search for packages, explained the rules and changes to postal services. I have nothing to complain about...and enough appreciation to write this. read more
