This place is absolutely horrible. I know most USPS get bad reviews especially in the urban neighborhoods, but I mean seriously come on. I cannot think of one good thing about this place. There was only one window open. The lady had an attitude even before I said hello. She answers her phone and cuts me off and doesn't even apologize or anything. When I ask her questions or ask for help the attitude grows. It gets better she starts yelling to her co-worker about god knows what. Last month I had something shipped from Brooklyn that went through this branch, then went to San Jose, CA. The final destination was the west side of Manhattan. Again, HILARIOUS. If I could rate this location negative ten stars under "EEK! HELL TO THE F NO, NEVER, STAY FAR FAR AWAY" I would. I'm almost tempted to make thirty different accounts just to rate this one star over and over again. I love getting mail, sending mail, and most of the time visiting the post office, but this location is a circle of hell not even known to Dante. I honestly hoped this location would shut down when they had to close a bunch of post offices because it has me in a blind rage very single time I think about going there or dealing with the people who work there. I've come on weekends, early, and the line has stretched out the door with one or two people working, as slowly as humanly possible. There are no automated machines so you have to wait on line. I've called on the phone to inquire about "Sorry We Missed You!" package slips when 1. you know their ass is NOT sorry and 2. they didn't attempt it the first time (I've been home) and 3. they never attempt to redeliver the package again thus forcing you to travel into hell. They have also BENT hard cardboard envelopes to fit into my mailbox - why? WHY?! DO NOT BEND. Sample phone conversation #1: Me: "This package wasn't redelivered." Them: "Why wouldn't the redelivery be attempted?" Me: "I DON'T KNOW, WHY DOESN'T YOUR ASS TELL ME?" - just kidding, I wish. Sample phone conversation #2: Me: "1-800-ASK-USPS said this location did not respond to the request for redelivery that I made four days ago." Them: "Why wouldn't we have responded?" I've have been living in this vicinity for a year and in that time, four packages have gone missing and my deliveries and mail are always late. I received a letter a few days ago that should have arrived two weeks prior . Every time I go to complain or call the 800 # they just tell me to fill out some form that probably never gets read . I'm so frustrated and am thinking of moving just bc if the postal system . This is ridiculous. WORST FUCKING POST OFFICE IN HISTORY!!! BURN IT TO THE GROUND AND SHIT ON THE ASHES!!! So I ordered a pile of worthless dog shit off amazon.com and was patiently waiting for it to arrive. The day it was supposed to be here I got one of those wonderful little peach slips in my mailbox letting me know that my worthless merchandise was just too valuable to leave on my doorstep. AWWWW! THANK YOU! :D Problem #1: The handwriting on this little love note looked like it was written by a 4 year old. Scribbly chicken scratch was all that I could see. Luckily there was a check mark next to a line that said "Item is at: POST OFFICE" with no address written or stamped anywhere. Completely blank. So what post office is it at, you fucking retards?!?! I'll just assume it's at the office closest to mine. Problem #2: The second I walked in to this place it smelled like fermented cat shit mixed with curry, onions, garlic, and the sweat off the hairy balls of a man who hasn't bathed in 15 years. YIPPEE!!! Problem #3: The woman that was supposed to be helping me there barely spoke any english. GO FIGURE. Problem #4: I presented my peach slip and photo ID to this foreigner in the hopes to receive my package. NOPE!! My photo ID wasn't good enough. I need some other form of proof of address. Well I've been waiting for a package for 2 days following the tracking online services. Needless to say the 2 days missed from work waiting was a complete waste of time. The tracking website said a slip was left both days while not one USPS delivery was made. So now besides just straight lying I call and was told no one was home. I went online to find someone else to complain to and that's not even working. Everyone there from top to bottom needs to go and I mean quickly. Someone needs to realize people have medicines delivered, medical supplies delivered and the people at Bergen Station are clearly not doing their job. Definitely not a USPS location I would want to visit unless I absolutely had to. No parking lot (understandable with the location but still inconvenient), very long lines, only 1-2 people working despite the lines, and it actually closes somewhat early for a fairly busy location (many locations in a busy area close at 5:30 or even 6). Employees are fine, even when people on line are very difficult or uncontrollably angry. The only cons are long lines if you go at rush times such as 3 PM and NO parking- it's a hit or miss w/ parking and bring quarter for meter. read more

Mail and package theft keeps on happening. I believe it's an inside job in the post office. I have a security camera outside my house, and I don't see anybody stealing my mails or packages. Here are some things that never arrived - gift cards, tax documents, checkbooks, etc. I filed a complaint several times to the manager and even spoke with USPS investigator, but nothing has changed. read more

Every single time I have a delivery that uses this Post Office, it has never been delivered. I have been home the entire day when items say delivered and know for a fact that no packages arrived in the building. Can I give less than 1 star? This place is sloppy and stark, the staff are the rudest people in Jersey City (and as someone who grew up here, that's saying a lot). They are ridiculously unhelpful, and act like they're doing you a favor when it's their JOB. They close early or open late, the lines are always long and there typically aren't enough attendants in the windows... I could go on and on. I discovered that on an online poll of the worst rated Post Offices in North America, this location received the #1 and I can see why! Over the years, I have personally witnessed scenes of such outright racism, homophobia, insensitivity and outright rudeness that it has made my hair stand on ends. I have see foreigners who have difficulty with English reduced to tears by the employees at this location, heard scathingly homophobic rants and raves from the workers, observe them on a daily basis lie, give misinformation to customers, break rules according to their whim and commit every sort of misconduct imaginable. This is probably the worst post office in Jersey City. I would give them negative 5 stars if I could. Unfortunately, we're stuck with it because we live in the area. We've had a number of issues, not limited to: - Package Delivery Problems They just post a note saying "final delivery" the first time, and don't even ring the doorbell sometimes. Someone is usually home at our place all the time. Has probably happened about 10+ times in 2 years. - Mail Theft We can't verify if it's from this post office, or deeper within the system, but we had some chocolates stolen from packages sent to friends during the holidays. The packages were actually delivered without the chocolates. Sad but true. - Insane Wait Times As others have noted, they typically have only one person working up front, and that person is tasked with handling package pickups and then general requests. I just spent a half hour waiting in line for the attendant to pick up 7-8 packages before getting to me. Technically I was second in line and all I wanted to do was mail a package and get some stamps. A simple fix here would be to staff another person to handle package pick ups while the main person services regular customers. I have filed a formal complaint with the post office via email today. I'm less upset about the attendants themselves -- they're not in a great situation regarding their careers -- and more disgusted with the management of that post office. I inquired today and it appears that the managers name is "George Flores." Usually I don't do reviews but after a few years of trying to find ways to make some real change it seems I have no choice. Everything everyone says on here is true. The problems that plague this place are incredible. But I'd have to say that whoever is in charge is where the blame lays. There's a saying. The fish stinks from the head down. This place reeks. 1 or 2 people who actually help don't change that. There doesn't seem to be any accountability here. Consistantly losing packages, lying about having leaving notices or attempted deliveries; are some of the many things that we HAVE to deal with because we thought there wasn't a choice. But there is. We pay taxes for this place to be open and we don't pay for nonsense with our mail. So when there is an election for city council or any of the local elections; this should be a major topic for discussion and solution. Hold these elected officials accountable for what they do and don't do. Because I guarantee that downtown DOES NOT have the mail issues we have to deal with here. So that's my solution for getting things changed. You can do the same or continue to complain on social media. So far that hasn't been working. Probably the most poorly run post office I have ever been to. Not the workers fault that the staff is often cut to ONE counter server with a line that wraps around the door...but seriously this is BAD. There are a couple of friendly women who work here that are very helpful every time I go in but as for the others...omg! Plus if they manage not to find your parcel when you go to collect - often happens - and you are told they will call you when they find it DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH. Also when you eventually call them back you will be met by a woman with a 'tone' who tells you things like "Well they may not have had time to look for it yet" and sighs condescendingly while she asks for your details. It took me every ounce of self control not to say "Look I don't need an attitude from you!" So...three days later and still calling I was told they hadn't gotten around to looking for it yet. My final call today I was hung up on and then told it would be put out for re-delivery today. I called back, said DO NOT hang up on me and told them that putting out out for re delivery would have same result as I wouldn't be home and a note would be left. So she said "So what do you want us to do with it?" (in a tone of course). I said "have it there for me coming to collect" so the response was "FINE...I will have it here for you!" slams down phone again. Really??? Is there somewhere you can report these people to? I live in Lafayette, I think half of the postal employees are dyslexic, there isn't a day that goes by, where either my mail goes to one of my neighbors house or I get one of my neighbors mail. Yesterday I came home from work, no mail it was about 4:30PM, I left my screen door locked from inside but the inside door was open I heard no noise or anyone coming to the door....about 6:30pm I go out and open the mailbox to find a pink slip sorry we missed you???? WTH, had you come to the door you would have realized I'm home, I didn't hear my gate open or close, no one came to the door. So I don't have a car, so I have to get Lyft to get up there to get the damn package and come back home, I have no clue who to complain to read more

Unsure if this is the processing center but, if they are, they need to get their stuff together! Package was sitting in this place in an unopened shipping crate (according to my local post office) from 4/2 through 4/7. Called and set up a claim to find my package with no avail. Was met with brick walls every time I would call and no one could give me an answer. I got the "it could be stuck in a sorting machine" excuse. CHECK YOUR FREAKING MACHINES FOR STUCK MAIL!! If it is a KNOWN problem, which I have read that it is, especially at the JC facility, check your machines!! Nothing but excuses every time something goes wrong, never an answer. And then there's always this one lady who seems to look like she's expediting by getting packages out, but she obviously is there is make sure that no one gets rowdy cause she yells. Absolute nightmare! After over a decade of horrible service (and having 99% of my packages sent to my job instead), I got stuck with a delivery that had to be sent to my billing address. I stayed home all day, left a note on the door letting them know someone WAS indeed home and to please let us know so we could receive the package. I routinely went outside to sit on the front steps just in case I caught a glimpse of a USPS truck. The tracking finally updated around 6:15, saying that a notice was left and delivery was attempted at 5:35pm. Funny, I was outside at that exact time (on the phone with a friend, so I have the time clearly on record), and not only was the package not attempted to be delivered, but I was also not given a notice... so if I go try to pick up my package at the least-awesome place ever (the post office on Bergen), I'm sure they will give me some run-around about how the package may still be on the truck or is back out for delivery, blah blah blah. This location sucks, is always crowded with a line out the door (especially at peak times like before work when people are in a rush), the employees barely speak English sometimes and are VERY rude and inconsiderate, and they have no clue where packages are. read more
