I get my mail consistently with no problems. I was at the office yesterday and had great customer service.

I honestly believe that you get the energy you give. I've heard the "horror stories" about the Hawthorne Post Office and I have avoided it for the almost 2 years I've lived in town. Today, I didn't have time to go elsewhere. I took a deep breath and went inside with my package. I was the only customer there. The woman at the counter was extremely friendly. By the end of the transaction she asked "your first time here?" I said yes. She said "I can tell because you are so smiley. Have a great weekend!" And she was smiling back at me through her mask. I hope people can put past experiences behind them and give these postal workers a chance to surprise you. They're doing their best with what they're given. read more

I have been going to this post office for over ten years now and pay for a PO box, the service I have received is just not getting any better even though they keep charging more for service . This year I went to pay for the PO box on line and the site was not working , so, as I was out of state I tried calling but no-one answered the phone. so I then traveled over one hour to the location and got charged a 25.00 dollar late fee. The next week I found out the box had been locked and they forgot to open it. There was one women alone and she told me she could not unlock it. She then called the manager a Mr. Zaki and he would not even get on the phone to talk to me but I was told he would call me on Monday to explain . Today is Thursday he never called to explain that they had made a mistake by not unlocking the box I am considering charging them with "Theft of Service". I will not be paying for the PO box any longer after this year. PS . The parking lot was full of cars from the restaurants across the street so I had to park my car on the street and walk a half block . Why is this happening ,that lot is for the Post office use only ? This place is just not getting any better. In the last 2 months, I mailed out 6 birthday cards from the Hawthorne USPS. I mailed 8 days early and only 2 arrived in time for the birthdays. C'mon! read more

This is the second time this facility has failed to deliver a package in a timely fashion. UPS records showed my package was delivered to this facility on Monday September 25th. On Saturday October 1st I went to the post office as the package had still not arrived. The supervisor claimed they had no record of the package arriving but did say it may have slipped through their scanner undetected. I contacted the company I ordered from and they are replacing the item at no charge. I'm just hoping Hawthorne USPS doesn't drop the ball again. This is the most pitiful operation I've ever seen and it never gets any better no matter how often people complain. read more

I have been living in Hawthorne New Jersey since 2008. Since about 2010, I am shocked if anything that is supposed to be delivered in a timely fashion to my address ever arrives. I have always had to pursue in person at the post office or waste repeated phone calls trying to get my package delivered. Many times people from the other side of town will deliver the package to my house after 2 or 3 days of it sitting at their home. I sincerely hope that this post office will invest in a map for each of their drivers as well as provide instructions of how to read. read more

The Hawthorne Post Office gave me wet mail again. In December it was so wet and dirty that I couldn't open the letters until the next day after drying them on the heater. I've gotten other people's mail many many times and it makes me wonder who has been maybe getting MY mail. When I called the post office I was told, "You're at the end of the route. The mail carrier has been walking for 8 hours by the time he gets to you." So I'm supposed to EXPECT wet mail every time it rains! They make umbrellas now-a-days! I'll bet the post master's mail is dry, though. And for $72,000 a year starting salary (I just received online notice for jobs at the post office quoting that amount) is THIS the level of professionalism we're to expect? One of the employees who's name is sherry decided to cancel my mail rather than leave the stuff alone while completing a move. The incompetent people on the phone when you call to find out why, say a specific line of bs rather than answer questions. They lose your mail steal your deliveries and now cancel my mail all together. That disgusting nosy in everyone's business should be fired for messing with other peoples important documents. This has to be the worst post office out there. I live in Hawthorne and get multiple people's mail almost on a daily basis. Then other people get my mail. On top of that I put 5 bills in a mailbox near 10th Ave off Warburton ave and all 5 recipients never received my mail. Lost? Then I go to post office at 4:55 pm to communicate the issue and the girl practically closed the door on my hand and said sorry were closed. I had to pay $150 to put stop payment on lost checks. I have no idea where my mail is? Please hire people that can read. That might be a good basic requirement for your next interview. what a disgrace! read more
