I received mail that had been opened. My mail was opened by postal deliverer. I called to file a complaint and the computer automated system just kept on getting doing circles I could not get to a human to file any sort of complaint so that they can fix the issue. read more

I've never understood the negative reviews on here. Sure ,there are long lines (this is America) at times, but understaffed and let's face it many fellow customers at the window never shut the hell up and make us regulars wait forever. My god do I hate these individuals. Friendly chit chat that doesn't make lines grow, or you're waiting cool, just don't blab endlessly because you're bored. Not good. Then there are the lovely people that are clueless about sending packages. Here's an idea, have your package prepped and taped well before ya get there. Huge helo to all. Now, the revolving door of clueless mailmen that are overwhelmed, oblivious to time, or new that come all hours of the night I hear ya. Maybe get a PO Box for just packages. Huge relief there And they're timely and quick. As for the lobby and service rarely any issues here unless an occasional misplaced package, Bloody hell people, we all lose or misplace stuff. And it's nothing like down south where you're lucky if they scan stuff. Trust me I know. You want bad customer service talk to Comcast. These guys are fine by me. Were all post offices built around the same time in history? This one in Gloucester reminded me fondly of the post office in Augusta Maine.. The smell, the post office boxes with the brass turny knobs, the stone exterior, the tall ceilings, ... the smell. I'm just saying. You know how apothecaries went out of style and all the breweries were taking their place and there are some pubs with these cool apothecary drawers behind the bar? Ok first of all I wouldn't even think people would take their time to review a post office. As I was google searching to see what time it opens, it popped up with all these negative reviews, so I figured I'd pop on real quick and give my 2 sense. I don't know what people are expecting at a post office, but I would think fast and reliable service would be it. I've been running an Etsy shop for about a month and a half now, and am coming to this post office at least twice a week to ship items out. I've come at all different times and days of the week, and the service has always been the same. It's always the same woman, she's friendly, fast-and I've never had anything but impeccable service. My customers are always happy with how fast their items get delivered as well. Nothing but good things to say about this post office. read more

Allegedly their policy is that if something is coming from out of the country you must sign for it. Although it's a 50/50 chance on weather or not they choose to implement this considering I have received things from overseas without signing. To add on to that almost every time they require a signature they automatically assume no one is home and leave an attempted delivery slip at the door without knocking, even when there are multiple cars in the driveway. Had the residential mail forwarded to a PO box at the Dale Ave location, only to receive a few pieces of mail here and there. Found out they were still delivering to the residential address, even with the yellow forward label attached! Credit cards, bank information, and even checks I was waiting for. Thankfully a friend gathered it, and was able to contact me, but that's unacceptable. read more

What I found baffling about this branch, is that it's not wheel-chair nor stroller accessible. Basically, if you're handicap or have children, this branch will not meet your needs. When I asked if there was a way I can deliver packages easier, the woman at the desk said, "Well, we're an old branch and it's a historical site. Sorry for your problems." After carrying a grumpy baby up 2 flights of stairs while leaving my stroller outside unsupervised, I suppose I've been in better moods. They need to update a few things for people who aren't able to access them. That would be kind and responsible of them since they're here for the community, not to "protect history" at the citizen's expense. read more

Last year I filled out form in January, and spoke to clerk about holding my mail for the following month of February. Thank goodness I had someone to check my mail at home because the "Hold" never happened. In December, '16, I filled out a form to have mail forwarded to an address in Florida for 3 months. This actually happened, but this place was problematic, so I had to move to another address. I went to main P.O. here in St. Petersburg, Fl and filled out not one, not two, but 5 forms to cancel forwarding and have mail sent back to my home in Gloucester. It's been 6 weeks, and mail is sporadically delivered to first Florida address, but none has yet gone to my home. I fear the loss of important tax documents in all this incompetence. How hard can this be? Doesn't the P.O. have a computer?? read more

Several weeks ago I went in and got a change of address form and I filled it out and went up to the desk and handed it to the women. She looked at it and put my info in and kept asking questions like so you lived here?........ and now... your .. here? And she was giving me a look. She came off rude, Then she was prying into my business by asking me why it took so long to change my address. And i told her it was personal. She was rude. She also told me it would take ONE week for my address to change. And it hasnt!! Its still at the same old one and I have w2s coming in and because of them I may not get them. I just went online and had to fill out a form there and got charged for it. So im gonna be very very mad if they dont change it this time! Very frustrating. read more

There's one very helpful and professional lady who works here and a bunch of other employees of a completely opposite description. It couldn't be more obvious that most of the workers cannot provide polite customer service as often as it's expected (all day) and don't belong in this job. I expect sulky and obstinate people behind the counters of student-run cafes, but these people are pushing 3x sulky-student-age and operating a federal service. Yuck. But there is that one nice lady, plus the building has a friendly used-bookstore smell. read more

I had ordered a vintage purse online that was rather expensive. The purse never came but when I looked at the tracking it had been delivered. I called the post office and they did confirm it was delivered. When I told them I never received it they spoke with the postal worker who delivered it and he realized he delivered it to the wrong house. He later went there and the owner refused to give him the purse, she apparently had a trailer full of things she received online and said she would look when she got around to it. They then told me to open a claim and get reimbursed. I didn't want to do this because the purse was rare and I knew the woman had it and wanted it. I called the headquarters for the US Postal Service and they said they could stop the deliveries of this woman until she relinquished the purse. I then called the Gloucester Post Office and asked them to do this, they told me they couldn't do this and I said you can according to the US Postal Service. A year earlier the Gloucester Post Office stopped delivering my mail because they didn't like the looks of my dog who was in a fenced yard. Then I said well can you tell me where the woman lives and I will ask her? They refused to do that and told me that I could not ask the postal delivery man for any information about the persons house. Not all of them but the Post Master is the most unhelpful arrogant wretch. Obviously it became and ego thing and I never got my purse. read more

steve was rude to me and after I told him that I had a bad day he was 100% uncaring, inconsiderate, mean and impatient. Why are disgruntled workers allowed to be working with the public? Post Office management is inept and no control over their carriers. We have a 14 box mail box with 14 neighbors that are forced to use it.The reason we can't get house delivery is because the little mail truck cannot travel the paved road. Trash trucks,UPS,Peapod, FedEX all can drive on it but not the USPS. When we get a package it is jammed in to a 12"x12" bulk box on the main box. The mail person delivers to our 2 next door neighbors but not our house even though he has to drive by our house to get to them. Parcels are never delivered to our house (no dog ,plenty of parking). Postmaster says it's always a "temp" who does it even though I see it's the regular carrier driving. Complaints to Headquarters are sent to the local Postmaster and nothing is done. If I could give them ZERO stars I would read more

I run a Distribution center in Gloucester. We spend around 20,000.00 dollars a yeah in postage shipping to stores in Hawaii, yet it is like pulling teeth to get the post office to pick up our packages. And when a person does show up, s/he is always less than enthusiastic about picking up. read more
