I HIGHLY recommend setting an alarm for 6am and "checking in" online. I woke up around 6:30am and was given an estimated 6.5 hour wait time. There's no need to try and get there early in the morning in my opinion as you can just check in and see what the estimated time is. There's also an option for scheduling an appointment but that looks to book up well in advance. I'm not sure too many people plan out DMV visits a month out. Make sure to keep checking your estimated time as it can fluctuate a bit. The staff here that I've interacted with have been great. I know they must deal with a lot of not happy people. It is hard to keep a positive attitude, but I've had good experiences.

Like most people I'd been avoiding it and putting it off as long as possible. When the time came I visited their website and realized that I could have just made an appointment, but there wasn't anything available now before our temporary tags expired so I just set an alarm to go first thing the next day. When I woke up I realized I had so much more to do that day than I thought and checked their website again for appointments, much to my luck they had a spot for that afternoon open up and I booked it! I arrived right on time later that day, checked in via my phone, and was seen within 10 minutes. The appointment took probably five minutes in total and I was out the door. The big learning here was that it pays to make an appointment and I LOVE that you can do that these days. Another pro tip: bring cash or a checkbook with you as they do charge a processing fee on all credit cards.
