I'm in town visiting family and wanted to mail some last minute items I found for my dad. We walked up with a flat rate box for two small bags of pistachios and he immediately said this isn't the best option, it's going to be too expensive. He helped us find the cheapest option to get them there fast then proceeded to find us a box to ship it in. Mind you, he was the only one working but not once did he rush Or dismiss us to get through the line faster. He was very friendly smooth and helpful. Honestly we walked out of there with a complete respect for him and his professionalism as well as his work ethic. Thank you clerk 9! (I'm sorry I don't remember his name)

All I can say is this location is busy. On some days it hit or miss when you have to stand in long…read morelines. Sometimes I think they don't understand that their busy times is during people's lunch breaks and right after work gets out (around 4-5pm) in the area, that the lines are long and need more window help. So the best times are the mornings, or after 1pm to visit. I have no complaints about the staff, only that I feel sorry for them when people come up to the window and don't have their packages done properly, or understand how to packages boxes. And this makes the people in line, frustrated. I understand that sometimes there's a language barrier but maybe they should post directions in multi-languages.

Very disappointed with this location. Dropped priority packages off yesterday 12/14/19. As of today…read more12/15/19 they have yet to be scanned. These are priority packages which means they should have been scanned so people can track them. I went to the location today. They have no idea why they weren't scanned or even where they are. So my advice, make them scan package right in front of you and get a receipt if you go to this location. The staff member that was helping also could have cared less and seemed annoyed and bothered that I had questions about priority packages I paid for and they lost. Very disappointed!!

The Melvindale Post Office has a very large parking lot. It is easy in and easy out even during…read morebusy times because of the road it is on. Use caution, as usual. This Post Office is not open all the time and there is no access to the lobby when it is closed. Keep an eye for the time if you want desk service or any special work. What makes this Post Office unique is a drive-through window - however, according local residents the drive-through window has never actually been in operation. There are two mailboxes outside the building in the back. Both the fact that the drive-through window is not in use, though certainly a cool feature not seen every day, and that the mailboxes are at the back of the building and made for cars this Post Office gets a '3'. Always had a parking spot every time I came to do mail stuff. 3) Interior: it's a little older, but everything is in working order. Clean, neat, orderly and not a spec of dirt anywhere. 4) Employees: exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They're always glad to help you out. I don't know what kind of other things to talk about when it comes to mail. I walk in, drop my mail or a package off, I pay for it, I walk out and I'm good to go. My mail or package gets there early is a plus, but all in all I just need it to get there in a timely fashion or even if it's extremely backed up, I would just want the item to get there period.

SHHHHH. No one knows about this one…read more The rules said I needed a Postal Money Order. Nothing else. Repeat after me, Postal Money order. When the DPD says you need something like that caprice doesnt bode well for one who dabbles in it. You follow the rules. I dreaded going to the Post Office. The one I usually go to on Livernois near Michigan is crowded and there are turtles that move faster than the lines do. So when I was out getting ice cream, I discovered this little branch. The walk from the bus stop was longer than I waited inside here. No lines, and the clerk was helpful in processing my request without batting an eye. It was so fast that I was able to catch the very next bus down Grand River. I was wholly impressed. As I said before, there are some hidden gems here in the D and this is one of them. If you need to mail something consider this branch. Lots of parking out front too. I even like the design of the building. That says something. The one thing that the government got right. If only Congress was like this we'd have a better time of things.

There tends to be 2 people working the windows. Does everything a post office/ postal service is built to do, with two bonuses. One, it's bilingual (spanish/english). They're good at their jobs, but only the task-oriented part of it. I'm surprised at the reviews…read moresaying how nice they are. Nearly every employee has a negative, nasty look on their face. You won't be greeted with a smile. You'll receive a generic greeting because it's in their job description. No people skills or actual kindness. But they WILL bite their tongue if they're impatient with you. The impatience is still obvious though. You can tell they don't like customers and that your presence is a bother to them. I once had an issue and dealt with the manager Andrew. He was hostile and clearly impatient with me. Was I rude to him? Nope, never. I had a genuine smile and was extremely polite. I work in customer service and know how to actually be nice to people, including everyone in this bunch. I've been nothing but nice to all of them for years, and have received zero kindness in return (except for one or two of the newer employees). I see them relate to each other and talk nice because they work together. But customers? No, why be kind to them. My last visit was the best because of the brunette girl with the sunglasses on her head. She loves to smile at my husband, but is catty towards me. She looks me up and down all the time and has for years. I have confidence in myself, so there's absolutely no jealousy here. I've never said anything and have never even given her a funny look. Nothing... I'm guessing she's jealous because I'm thinner? I don't know what her problem is. I've tried being nice many times, but she puts on a snobby act and seems incapable of genuine kindness. It's sad.
