Unlike online, you can also buy a specific number of postcard stamps, which was great because I needed 30 for my last batch of postcards. I read the recycling newsletter and discovered the landfill was selling compost for ONLY $10.00 per…read moreton. As we all know the soil here is mostly clay and if you want to plant flowers or veggies you have to either grow them in containers, dig out the clay or use raised beds for planting. This year we are expanding our veggie garden and have made a 8'x16'x10" garden. We also made a 12'x12'x6" strawberry garden. We decided to purchase the landfill compost rather than purchase other soils from Home Depot or Lowes as we have done in the past. So far we have purchased 2.5 tons of compost at a total cost of only $25.00. The strawberry garden is now filled with compost and the veggie garden will be full with one more ton of compost. If we purchased the soil elsewhere we would have easily spent $150.00 - $200.00. The compost is a very good quality, is full of nutrients and is light and airy enough without adding any peat moss or pearlite. Because of all the nutrients we will not add any cow manure and will use far less fertilizers. We have found the compost to be about 94.9% pure with 5% of almost totally decayed small wooden twigs and less than 0.1% plastic bags and other products. We used a 2005 Toyota Tundra truck which is rated to carry about one ton of materials. To be safe we started with .43 ton (860lbs) of compost first and found .61 ton (1220lbs) is the ideal weight since Bees Ferry Road is still in the construction phase with a very uneven and bumpy road at present. To purchase the compost drive onto the scale, get a ticket from the scale house, they will tell you which compost area to proceed to, get your comfortable load of compost which the workers will add with a Bobcat or front end loader, go back to the exit scale, pay and you are finished. Just remember to cover your load before leaving the landfill. You may want to also bring a shovel just incase you need to adjust your load.

For our Monday visit the streets were pretty empty due to Covid and I was able to get some nice shots of the buildings. Interesting trivia: The Four Corners of Law was coined in the 1930s by Robert Ripley, creator of Ripley's Believe it or Not! and it has been called that ever since. Review #1847

This seems to have been a change when those charged with a crime have to come in and check with an officer at a desk before the second metal detector. Of course, you can enter from Broad Street (the actual address of this courthouse is 100 Broad Street) and then you only have one set of metal detectors to go through, but where do you park your vehicle on Broad Street? Good luck with that. After a decade or so, this courthouse still seems fresh and new, having been well maintained.
