I was very reluctant to put my items in a NON Climate controlled unit for such a long period of time but the owners suggested some very helpful ideas that has kept our belongings safe. First they told me to put plastic on the floor to create a moisture barrier. -Hmmm Concrete has moisture so if you ever stored boxes in your basement you would know what he is talking about. Second, never move items in that are damp or wet so don't move in when it is raining or snowing. Third if you plan on staying a long time through Winter & Summer, buy a bucket of Damp Rid which absorbs any moisture in the unit. All this information was explained to us by the owners so we still have valuable peaces that are not damaged at all. Even though we were visiting fairly early in the year and before the real tourist season began, Leah and her staff at Lighthouse Bikes were nice enough to let us be their first official tour of the 2026 season! We had a lovely private tour through the city with Ross, who was as passionate as ever about the city's history even despite the cold temperatures we biked in. Midwest Moving was very communicative from the moment we reached out to them. Their quote was…read morereasonable; however, I was fairly certain that they had underestimated the time, which they had. I believe they charge you from the time they leave their facility until the time they return, so keep that in mind when estimating your own cost and keep careful track of when they come and go so that you don't get charged more as that almost happened to us. Their employees were friendly and polite and arrived within the timeframe they had promised. We had three guys show (instead of the two that were expected). They moved the furniture fairly quickly as we had a tight window to complete the move on both ends. Unfortunately, there were a couple of items (an electric fireplace and a shelf that we are aware of thus far) that we discovered had minor damage, so be sure to wrap everything carefully that you really care about. They also forgot to bring some of the bolts for the bed frame (which we discovered later) and their drill from the first location, so my husband had to drive back to original house to let them in. Despite these few issues, we were happy to have movers who actually showed up when promised and did what they said they were going to do. We would absolutely consider using them again.

The 2 guys were so pleasant and really hustled though. After the move was complete, we found a small gouge in an acoustic tile in the stairwell, but no other damage.
