This is the second time I have sent a Priority 2 day package to my daughter in the 11218 zip and again my package has still not arrived from California. Package was mailed so it would arrive for Easter and once again the issue is at the Brooklyn facility. Package mailed 3/23 and it is now 4/1 and tracking says still in transit on the Brooklyn side. What the heck is going on over there. 2 day shipping is not cheap cost me $28 to send. Now trying to resolve with a non responsive phone number. Will update post. read more

I owe a huge thanks to the employees at the Kensington Post Office for going above and beyond -- helping me get a delivery of day-old baby chicks as quickly as possible. I was extremely nervous about having 3 chicks mailed to us, from a hatchery in Ohio to our home in Brooklyn. I have never dealt with shipping live animals before. The unseasonably cold spring meant the chicks were more at risk while in transit. I headed to the post office as soon as I got the notification that my package had arrived, so I could pick it up and bring it home. Little did I know, the package was already out for delivery. A supervisor called the delivery person and asked if they could wait 5 minutes, for me to head back home and accept the package. THANK YOU THANK YOU for going above and beyond. All staff are lazy, indolent and stupid and should be fired pronto! I and about 15 others were standing on line, it was 20 minutes after opening time, 2 staff in their booths were chatting away and filing their nails. Then a delivery guy came in and one says, "Yay, breakfast is here". They both ate their breakfast, chatted away in ebonics, while everyone waited. Eventually an old Hispanic woman and a young Black woman shouted at them to hurry up. But they didn't... What is wrong with these morons!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

There is a postal worker here with the last name Yee who overcharged me for my postage -- she put them down as being parcel while they were actually large envelopes. When I told her that they should not be so expensive to send, she just shrugged and told me that that is what the system said. I got my stuff back and sent it via kiosk instead (which ended up being LESS THAN HALF what she had quoted) Going to be avoiding this PO from now on. read more

I sent a package that was to be delivered to a nearby resident. It never got to its destination since they decided not to deliver it and instead send it to the wrong facility. Then those idiots didn't realize to send it back and they claimed no such number. Now the package is back with me on the other side of the country. The 1-800 number is doing little to help this, at least not in a timely manner. All I wanted the package to do is to stay in Brooklyn but they couldn't even manage that. This is the worst experience I've ever dealt with, and all because some numbskull here put the package on the wrong truck. Let alone the fact they never answer their phone. I am never using USPS again to send any packages. Their heads are too far up their rears to think straight. DON'T expect your feelings to be dealt with kid gloves. You have to be clear and straightforward to the clerk on what you want to be done. Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Tons of times my mail went missing or was delayed within 2-3 weeks time frame. I reccomend you have items shipped through a friend or family member that lives in other postal zones. I honestly believe someone needs to investigate the branch. I truly believe there is some scam going on. My package confirmation online said delivered, but I never got a slip, package, or anything else. When I went to the post office they denied the confirmation code was valid at all and told me to leave my number and they'll call. I truly implore anyone of higher authority to send tracking devices through packages and find out what the hell is going on and where they are going. If I could give it no stars I would. This place is full of bad attitudes and laziness from the clerks at the counters. From all the years I have gone to this post office it has not improved but has gotten even worst, so why do we take the postal experience surveys when nothing has improved for the better. The people at the counter just do not want to work, they just want to collect a good paycheck and do nothing. Why not just put mannequins there at least they don't give you attitudes. This has to be one of the worst post offices in NYC. Not even bothered by what a hell hole of a mess this place is or how rude and uneducated the staff are, what gets me is the inability to deliver my mail correctly if at all! It's become routine to find my mail in a neighbors mail box. Mail is often returned to me open, kind of scary considering my personal information. Sometimes mail ends up next door! Packages routinely "vanish." That's right, according to tracking they are received at McDonald then mysteriously disappear and I'm told they're gone, nothing more can be done. Sometimes they do miraculously show up on my door step after reporting them as stolen to the main postal branch of NYC. I've lived all over the US and this is EASILY the worst post office I've been to. Sadly, I live down the street and have to rely on it. Ruins my day every time I have to go. The list of complaints is just too long. Just imagine all your worst post office-related nightmares and the people working at the Kensington, Brooklyn USPS station will help you see them realized. I was supposed to get something today, the delivery person came to deliver at 8:07 pm, rang my bell once and I ran downstairs, as soon as I reach the front door he is freaking gone!!! Mind you I was climbing down 3 floors!! And now I have to go pick it up because the man/woman decided to "pretend" attempting to deliver my package!! WORST POST OFFICE IN THE COUNTRY! they have cursed me when ive went to pick up a package, an employee slammed my package down and broke my $400.00 electronic item. They have yelled at me and the mailman has too. The mailman smokes and any mail or package we are fortunate enough to get smells heavily of smoke which doesnt help my allergies/ashtma. they dont want to wait for you to come sign for a package so they dont ring the bell or knock on the door. most times they dont even leave a note card saying our package is in and to come pick it up at the post office. This has happened on numerous occasions and i dont even know that my package is in until i check tracking and it says "attempted delivery on xxx". Ive even had packages returned overseas because i wasnt notified they were here. Im on disability. Im home all day every day...no reason for them to NOT leave my package or knock on the door. Weve reported them to consumer affairs and the post master and what happens? we didnt get mail for a week and my husbands pay checks magically disappeared and he didnt get paid for 2 months!! bottom line? THEY COULD CARE LESS! the lines are so long ive never waited less than 45 minutes in line when ive had to go get a package. their attitudes stink. their customer service is the worst ever and frankly I would not care if they shut it down and fired them all. Ive driven to BayRidge post office on several occasions just to drop a package off. Kensington post office does not scan the packages in and they have held my packages that ive dropped off there for 3 + days before sending it on!!! I honestly dont know how these folks still have a job and why no one does anything about it! and dont get me started on the numerous packages they have lost of ours!!! there is NOTHING positive to say about this location or its employees!! Even worse than the one on 9th St between 4 and 5 Aves in BK, who stole a box containing my great grandmother's crystal, then said the carrier gave it to a neighbor and I should go ask her. Instead, I went and asked the Postal Inspector but all I got was the insurance money, no crystal. Kensington is WORSE THAN THAT: beats all for rudeness, not giving a shit when your stuff goes missing, allowing customers to harass and even fight with others in the PO, not ordering supplies, not answering the phone, etc., etc., etc. We have gone to our congressman, gotten the Feds involved and they got a new manager. Believe it or not, it is much better with him than it was. I have talked him; he's not a bad guy. One worker once had me in tears because he refused to give me a packaged sent to "Jess" (my nickname) instead of "Jessica" (my birthname, which is on my ID). Another time they blamed my mail delivery guy for permanently losing a package, which I pointed out was sitting right behind the woman at the counter. I remember it was a place to avoid at all costs when I was growing up in this area, and this weekend when visiting family I was reminded of it. thankfully I ran in, dropped off some mail in the outgoing box and ran out before I was assaulted by the souls of the damned. my parents confirm that picking up a package or mail that's been held STILL takes forever. I remember getting my passport paperwork filled out here years ago by an employee who seemed to be thinking with their tongue. I'd say that the fire hydrant in front of the building would do a better job, but that might be insulting to the fire hydrant. the machines for stamps are prone to being empty or having some sort of issue. I watched someone pound furiously on the machine this weekend. if you want to laugh for a good 5 minutes or so, I suggest you look up "going postal in Kensington" on YouTube. it's about a man who is mad as hell at the Kensington post office and ain't gonna take it anymore. I also think he is one of the teachers from my elementary school, which is just a block away, which makes it even funnier to me. avoid unless absolutely necessary. oh, and save yourself a coin for the ferryman Charon to get yourself back to the lands of the living! read more

Sometimes your boxes reflect as "delivered" but somehow you find yourself scratching your head because they weren't delivered to YOU. An adult is always in your home but somehow those pink slips still creep up. ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH. I've lived in the same place 35 years and I miss BUDDY. I have lived many places, and this post office is the worst that I have ever encountered. Someone at the post office is marking packages as delivered and forging signatures on the slips (the USPS will email you a copy of the signed delivery slip if you ask for it, so you can tell the clerk that it's not your signature and she can scream at you and say that you're lying). I hope the rude, lazy employees at this branch are enjoying the contents of the neighborhood's "missing" packages. Also, I recently saw one of the women who works here reduce a couple and their child to tears -- yes, all three of them -- because she didn't think they spoke English well enough to ask her a question. read more

I was there 2 days ago and came back home with BP 200. I had a misfortune to ship a package internationally from that location, because I did some shopping in that area and packed everything there. This postal office is a nighmare. All the workers and managers are African American and they are extremely rude. First, I couldn't find any EMS tags , so I could fill in the customary declaration form and the information about the destination. When passing the package to the officer in window 1 (they don't wear name tags and refuse to give their names), I got berated for not putting the package on scale (It was the first postal office where the scale was in the window and I didn't even know about that). Then she started talking to me in a very toxic maner : -Where is this package going, why didn't you put the name of the country? Till I could explain her that you don't have to put any information on the package if you are going to deliver it via USPS Global Experss EMS and that it must be written on a tag...., she told me that she refuses to help me and I have to wait for the manager on window 5. And that manager came only after 45 minutes!!! The next day I went to the office to find out the full information about the officer who was rude to me, the same manager (Reid S) refused to help me. I am a huge fan and believer in the United States Postal Service. It is both cheaper, faster, more reliable and more flexible than UPS or FedEx. I buy stamps all the time. I ship exclusively with the Postal Service. I LOVE the post office. I HATE this place. Whoever is managing this location deserves to be fired. Our packages are routinely never delivered, and postal slips are NEVER left. Without a slip, we can't pick up our packages or schedule a redelivery. Packages end up in some weird limbo and are returned to sender or lost - never to be seen from again. This location needs to be investigated for mail fraud and general incompetence. read more

I have never, ever been to a post office this bad. There was only one window open today bc every postal worker went on break at the same time. People on the longish line were freaking out, and then the manager came out and yelled at the one worker who was actually doing her job. They argued back and forth, which was pretty hard to witness. She was clearly in the right, but the manager was talking to her like she was incompetent. This place is clearly mismanaged, and I'm not sure why USPS allows this to continue. This is possibly the worst post office in NYC, and certainly, the worst I have ever been to. I have been going there for over 30 years. During that time, they have done the following: 1) lost a piece of Registered Mail containing original tax documents, after a substitute letter carrier who spoke Chinese and no English allowed someone in my building to forge my signature (because there was a criminal action by tenants against her husband) without presenting ID; 2) lost several birthday and wedding gifts sent by mail; 3) lost various other letters They constantly misbeliever mail. With the exception of our building's letter carrier, the station is filled with incompetent and rude workers. It has been this way for 30 years, despite a mountain of complaints sent to our Congressional rep, starting with Charles Schumer. That tells you how much our elected officials give a damn. Service is unbelievably slow as well. The only saving grace is that they are open until 6 pm and possibly later on Thursday night, but they cut back from their former late night of 7 pm. Absolute worst post office I've ever had to deal with. I have several boxes shipped regularly to my home, where I work. Once in two years they rang my buzzer on a first attempt -- the rest of the time, nada. The attempted delivery slip -- if one is left -- shows up a day or two later in the regular mail. You cannot pick up any packages without the slip and/or slip date. So you lose even more time. Express mail is delivered 2 to 3 days later than it's supposed to be. One box delivery person drops packages off on the lobby floor and refuses to bring them up any flights of stairs, then expects a thank you because he dared to partially do his job. (I spoke to a manager and was told box deliveries up to the 3rd floor of walk-ups are fine, but this guy won't go up a single stair.) If the sender forgets to put an apartment number on the package, even if you're name is on the door/buzzer, they'll tell you they can't deliver it. This week I had a box delivered that was clearly ripped open and retaped. Half the contents were missing and the half that remained were damaged. Two other boxes haven't shown up yet, however the tracking log shows an attempt at 4pm today. I was home; no one rang the buzzer. If you show up in person, the line is often to the door, there aren't enough windows open, and the workers are incredibly slow. If you ask to see a manager, forget it -- you'll wait and wait and wait and they'll never come out. The regular letter carriers are good, but the rest -- agh! Fire the lot of them and hire some people who are currently out of work who will do the job properly. read more

This post office is TERRIBLE. 90% of the time, online tracking info says my packages weren't delivered because no one was home. I'd been home when all these delivery attempts were supposedly made, so apparently the delivery guys are just too lazy to come up to my apartment (I live in an elevator building, c'mon guys, it can't be that hard!). Oh, and aside from not delivering my packages, they also don't leave behind notice slips, which means if it weren't for my obsessive habit of tracking my packages online, I wouldn't have even known deliveries had been "attempted." So now I have to schlep down to the post office because the delivery guy was too lazy to do his job. And my god, that post office, what a mess. Lines are always long and everyone has the same complaint: "Where the f*ck is my package?" The postal workers are beyond rude and do little to help. The woman in front of me last weekend was supposed to receive a bridesmaids dress, but it had been delivered to the wrong address. The woman at the desk's response: "Sorry, there's nothing we can do. You should wait until your postal worker comes to your apartment again and talk to him to track it down." If you live in the neighborhood, save yourself the aggravation and just get stuff delivered to your office. read more

This post office is so bad I've honestly thought about abandoning packages here. I typically try to get anything USPS delivered to my office but occasionally it doesn't work out. Fighting between employees and between customers is common. The postal inspector doesn't really seem to care how poorly run this place is. This is THE WORST POST OFFICE IN THE US!!! Even when the Kensington branch is empty, it takes 30 min to get a stamp put on an envelope . There are at most 2 post office workers working. The 2 are as slow as molasses. They have non stop conversations with their friends. The supervisor is no where to be found. I had one worker give me a wrong name when I requested it. The post office workers are rude and nasty. All the workers and supervisor need to be replaced!!! What is taking our boro do or public advocate so long???? I've had my mail delayed and or not sent( lost) when I said something to the worker about helping me. I give up with that branch . I go to park slope to mail everything. Close the branch.
