My family and I had a terrible experience. We went to apply for a new passport for our kid. Our kid just had a COVID shot and was not feeling well. But the officer was eager to leave and was yelling at us because we seemed a bit distracted by the child. He showed passive-aggressive demeanor and used impolite language. They lost my international packages twice and now I was expecting a delivery on Thursday 27th- according to my tracking number- and I still did not received it. Hey. It's a post office. What do you want? Unless the place is giving out free pony rides, ice cream, and has a staff/customer ratio of 1:1 I can't see how anyone can give a post office more than 3 or 4 stars. But honestly though, I've never had a bad experience here. Yes, always bring a book or something to do while waiting in line because there are usually no more than 3 people working which is pretty consistent with what I've seen in any post office anywhere. I also 2nd the cool rockabilly guy and have had great service with anyone else working there. The only negative thing about this place is the customers. Like the guy who stands behind you in line and huffs and sighs heavily and throws up his hands and inches steadily closer to you thinking the line is going to move. Sorry, guy. But it's noon on a Saturday. What did you expect? You should have come here earlier. And the women who don't care that their kids run all over the place screaming and shouting. But the location is great, the hours are good, the employees are great, the atmosphere is fine, and I love their mail-your-own-package/buy-your-own-stamps kiosk. read more

This is why post offices are going out of business! I have been experiencing issues with delivery where USPS sends me a notification saying the package was delivered and then it only arrives several days later. Finally, after calling and getting stuck with a bot with no option to speak to a human, I went to my local post office, and, after waiting in line for 30 minutes, got stuck with a supervisor that said "it says delivered sorry I cant help you". Well it said delivered many times before when it wasn't. Cannot imagine such a thing happening with Fedex or UPS and I can assure you that their customer service was better. read more

I've never had anything but pleasant experiences in here. Sometimes the line is long but it generally moves very quickly and the automatic postage machine is usually working. Coolidge Corner is a busy area, so it makes sense that this is a busy post office (with some demanding customers sometimes). But I always find the staff here to be very efficient and pleasant, even if a little rushed sometimes. And I'll add to the running theme here of the rockabilly-punk-tattoo-guy fan club--he's the best. I've bought a few stamps more than necessary from him. read more

Yes, the younger staff member with the tats, large chops, and rock star hair is always super helpful. So I agree with everyone else that has said something similar in previous posts. Unfortunately, that is about the only thing this place has going for it. The decor, cleanliness, and tidiness is completely absent. It's very depressing. And the lines. The lines are terrible because there is simply a lack of any organization or management in this place. If they simply organized the teller stations in a way that informed the consumer, everyone would win. Meaning, this line for stamps, letters and straightforward packages. This line for anything more complex/complicated. And this line for passports, PO box questions, etc. The problem is that the only reason a majority of people go into a USPS branch is because they can't do what they want to do online. Therefore, they are forced to go into the branch. But when everyone needs additional assistance, this adds layers upon layers of hassle for all involved. Ok, aside from the internal issues this branch has, the carriers are awful. We live in a large building and have our mail delivered in a box. Each and every day, our mail is stuffed in there with *zero* regard for the contents; pictures, bills, junk mail, whatever. It is stuffed in there like stuffing in a Thanksgiving turkey. read more

Post offices are all the same. Everyone goes to mail something, get a passport/passport photo, or package something up. Pretty standard. I've lived in a couple places that I actually enjoyed going to the post office. This is not one of them. This was supposed to be a quick errand. 5 minutes to drop off a package, that already had a shipping label, and leave. It took 20 minutes to wait in line to give the package to someone that just glared at me when I told them "Thank you! Have a nice day!" I am of the belief that you should always be friendly to people, even if the service isn't great, because you never know what is going on behind the sidelines. All I wanted was a little acknowledgement that, even though I had waited in a line that would make most people crabby, the gentleman was still worth a smile. He clearly did not think the same of me, with a scowl that would make you think that he ate sour lemon. Maybe it was a bad day? I don't know, but it didn't make me too eager to return. read more

I've been to this PO around 4-5 times to send off/pick up various types of mail and packages. I can't say that I've ever been as disgruntled as some of the people on here. Maybe I've just been lucky... I've never had any issues with any of the counter people. They've been nothing but helpful and nice about it. All of them may not be super bubbly, friendly people but they get the job done. There is sometimes a line that builds up (even when all the counters are manned) but that's pretty much to be expected at a PO in the middle of Coolidge Corner during the day, no? I guess my only gripe with this place would be that every time I've been there, there's never any pens around to use!! (easily remedied by going up to the counter asking kindly for one.) read more

I was appalled with the customer service I received here. My 16-yr-old son and I came twice (the first time we came we learned that we should have made an appointment, even though I had CALLED AHEAD and was told NO APPOINTMENT WAS NEEDED HERE). So when we came totally prepared, with a scheduled appointment, we were treated by this particular employee-- who, I believe, has been negatively reviewed here already-- like we were totally out of line for showing up and bothering him. Every word that came out of his mouth was terse and condescending. I would go so far as to say he is abusive, and has no business working with customers. He seemed almost satisfied that we would not be getting the passport because we didn't have a debit card to pay the fee for an expedited passport (we came 3 MONTHS in advance and that is considered expedited!). The whole passport process seems to be a racket, but that's for another review. While we were standing there we witnessed 2 other folks come in for passports and get turned away because they also didn't know you had to make an appointment. Couldn't they put a sign up at the door to alert people to the process, if not AMEND THE ONLINE INFORMATION? It was a sorry place, with long lines of aggravated, though patient, people, a self-service machine that was out of order and general understaffing. I recommend you find another post office. If you don't have a passport need, go to Brookline Village. I'm still figuring out the best place to get a passport. read more

While the line was a little slow to move, and people kept asking me to move because the line snaked in front of the mailboxes, I would say this was a good experience at the post office. There are ample shipping supplies available, both the free priority mail ones, and the ones for sale. Once I made it to the counter, the clerk was friendly, courteous and efficient. For me, the location is very hard to beat. They also have excellent hours: open until 7 PM weekdays and 4 PM weekends, huge plus! Why is it so difficult to work with a post office? You use it often enough to the point where you get to know your business or home carrier. You check your mailbox often enough to get to know the staff. You know when to visit a branch when it's not completely busy, and you generally expect to send and or receive what you need, where you need it when you need it... Except that's not the case here. Not this post office. I get it, it's a system thing, the USPS is running out of money. However, it occurred to me long ago after working retail long enough that if one wanted to make more money, they would reduce the pain on patrons and improve the service level to the point where people actually wanted to use your goods and services. Except that's not the case here. Not this post office. You can see the same carrier every day and somehow they'll forget what time you're home, or what time your business opens. You can go into the branch and expect to see the same people working every day, some of them as hard as they can because they understand the nature of people needing to get in and out while compensating for the shortcomings of their coworkers... Only to stand there and wait while the 1 person that is working helps the 1 customer that needs more help than anyone else. In 4 months that I've been in this area, my packages have been returned because they insist on delivering them when my shop is closed. They insist on having the fewest amount of clerks as possible when the line stretches past the door. They insist on not picking up packages when you schedule a pickup. About the only thing, they're good at is being consistently poor in the service department. The one department they need to excel! My only wish is that Amazon would ship with FedEx or UPS or carrier pigeon so I wouldn't have to deal with these people personally. As for my business, I fully hope to use anybody else exclusively this holiday season. Not this post office, never again. I'll be fair and rate this branch 2 stars. Zero for the branch and the majority of its workers, 2 for the ones that actually care and do their jobs as a service to us all. read more

This post office always has a long line given its proximity to the T and a very busy residential / retail area. At least it has a self service kiosk which works most of the time. The management could help the situation by staffing up the front counters (usually half of the counters only have a clerk) and training the staff on efficiency and civility. I'm contacting USPS separately on the way one clerk was noticeably rude to customers today, belittling them and giving them a look down his nose attitude (over and over). read more

The self-serve kiosk is ALWAYS out of order here! This leads to incredibly long lines and they seem to only ever have one or two staff members working so be prepared to wait a loooong time. The staff are usually really irritated and rude. Today I was trying to be the most productive person I know how to be. It involved mailing some very important documents. I called my mum and asked her, where, on a Saturday can I get something notorized and mailed at about 11:15 am?! She said, Coolidge Corner. I hauled ass over here, and waited a few mins in line to ask if they had a notary. They usually do, but this one wasn't in on a Saturday. I ran up to Bank of America and got my papers notarized, and ran back. I spent another 5 mins in line and got a money order, and all my paper work filled out. They told me to come back to the front of the line when I was done. I felt a little weird about cutting line, but had to rush off to another errand, so I did. They guy took me next, and I was out of there in a fairly short time. I was very excited to be done with that. Thankfully it went as smoothly as possible. I saw the guy with the tats that Greg J was talking about - but I was assisted by all three other guys. They were all really helpful, quick and nice to me. Open for full service - with mail pick-up - until 7pm on weekdays. Well-staffed so that even when the line is long, it moves quickly. Employees are generally friendly and helpful, but they do try to keep things moving (which I appreciate) so they also may come off as curt. As far as post offices go, this is the best in the area. The line doesn't look long but it is a long time waiting and you find yourself already 30 minutes invested and it's too late to leave now. This has been my 3 experiences here. They are understaffed at this place and their self service station is broken. If you plan to come here, be prepared to wait an 30mins to an hour. People come with real issues on packages being sent or delivered. Suggestion: create an express line for those who just want to send out simple packages. read more

The worst post office in Boston. I mailed out a package for my sister as a birthday gift and used one of their priority boxes. The clerk at the counter entered the wrong zip code and it ended up being shipped to an entirely different city. Called this post office branch to figure out how to get the package sent back to me. They hung up on me five times and told me to stop calling. One of the people who answered cursed at me. I eventually opened a claim with central USPS. They managed to help me track down the package. It finally arrived to the correct destination three weeks later completely battered. When I first dropped off the package I told them it was fragile. Turns out they ignored me and never noted that for the package. Nearly all of the contents arrived damaged and ruined as you can see in the photos. When I called again to let them know about the mishandling of my package they told me I was dumb for thinking the package wouldn't get tossed around. Stay far far away from this branch. read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews of this post office- I think it's great! Yes, the lines can be long- I doubt it's the post office's fault that the system is underfunded. The clerks are wonderful, especially the woman, whos name I wish I knew. So nice and very helpful. But everyone here is nice. And the self-service kiosk is great- plus the supplies are well-stocked and they have great greeting cards to look at while you wait in line. To all of you who disparage this post office, try either the Allston Post office at the top of Harvard (I got online notification that a package was going to be delivered from Allston, when it didn't come and I called them they actually said "It's probably in this big pile on the floor"), or the Jamaica Plain post office. Horribly mismanaged, they post the slowest workers at rush times, the wait is three times as long as other locations. Go anywhere else.

We are at the end of a delivery route and routinely the post person runs out of steam and skips our end of the street. So on Tuesday we got the mail that "they found" that had not been delivered on Saturday. When we set a hold for a vacation stoppage we did it on line - no more. The mail was continually left on our porch and we were lucky a neighbor picked it up. When we went to the post office to get the held mail they had nothing and told us to go home and wait. Lo and behold 4 days later the truck dropped of a packet of held mail. When we wrote to the supervisor and asked for help - no response. What is up? Get everything sent electronically and hope your neighbors or thieves are not nosey and opportunistic. We were lucky to have had two great post persons for years, but they are long gone and the post office needs to up their game. read more

I could blame the busy area for the staff's shortness, poor people skills, lack of tact and/or customer service skills...but I frequent this location first thing in the morning. I'm usually the second or third customer of the day. Maybe they haven't had their coffees yet(???) but the staff is just plain RUDE. They yell at customers for not standing in the right place in line, they refuse to help when you ask additional questions saying it's "not their job" (who else's job is it to look up a tracking number for me for a package that's sent through the USPS?!?!)-- it's on my phone and not printed out on a piece of paper so it's not valid?!?!? In this day and age?!? Don't even dare ask for a particular kind of stamps, either!!!! They would have to walk a few steps to look for them and that's just asking too much. I wish I had a different location walking distance from my home and work...unfortunately, this is it so I'm stuck! No wonder the USPS is going down the tubes!!!! read more

This location is absolutely the worst! This isn't the only time I've had such terrible customer service. I went in to return something and wasn't familiar with where to put the label. The employee said "it's your job I shouldn't be doing this for you." I'm pretty sure that if a customer is unsure you would be able to show them without being so rude. Also I went in for stamps for my wedding envelopes. I asked him for stamps for that occasion. The guy pulls out Sesame Street and hot wheels?! I ended up storming out because he clearly doesn't know how to do his job correctly. The Brookline Village location is 10x better! This is a horrible post office. Every single time I come here, there's a huge line, no matter what time it is. The workers for the most part are all rude. I actually witnessed one of them get into a loud argument with a customer, and they were both yelling expletives at each other. Seriously? The employee is supposed to remain calm in situations like that. What's driving me nuts now is that they messed up an important delivery I was supposed to get. It's been almost a month since it should have been delivered but they sent it to the wrong address and refused to send it to the correct address. I was then told that I could come pick it up but I'd have to pay something like $10 to get it. No thank you. I'm not paying for your mistake, USPS. read more

This is the absolute worst US Post office branch I've been to. I've lived here for 4 years now with the same address and recently they've begun returning my mail and packages saying my "address needs to be verified" After seeing an $80 package wasn't left because my address "needed to be verified" (it was correct, my same address of 4 years) I called, no answer, the phone just rang. Called the next day and someone took down my phone number and promised to call back. Never did. Went in person today and after waiting in line 20 minutes, a staff member wandered around in back for about 9 mins pretending to look for my package, which I'm sure has already begun it's trip back to the seller by now. Just completely useless visit, they don't even listen to what your problem is. Will just have to cancel the package now as I have no idea where it is, if it's been returned, or if it's just sitting on a shelf at their office. Thanks USPS. read more

This has to be the most incompetent, decrepit, useless branch of the US Postal Service that I've ever had the misfortune to rely on. Walking into it feels like going through a time warp - suddenly you are a dim, musty lobby winding your way to the back of a long long line, watching one or two employees rattle around a counter designed for twice as many clerks, and evidently competing to help the fewest customers per hour. This afternoon at 3pm I was the fourth person in line when I arrived, and I waited for almost half an hour to reach the counter. (At that point the line was 15 people long, both of the two clerks disappeared, and people in the line actually started shouting to try to get some sort of service resumed at the counter). Let me back up a step and explain why I was even in the never-moving line in the first place: in most parts of the US, if you go on vacation and want your mail held, you fill out a form on the USPS website to have them hold your mail, and then have them resume delivery and bring the accumulated mail on a pre-specified date. Not in Brookline. Here, if you fill out the online form, a piece of paper is stashed somewhere amidst the caverns of the post office, and your mail carrier may or may not choose to notice or honor the request. Furthermore, when the end date comes, they do not deliver any accumulated mail, as a point of policy. You *must* go wait in the long line to pick up the mail and request that your delivery be resumed. And then the one, clerk dawdles back into the caverns of the post office to see if your mail is anywhere to be seen, while the long line behind you gets increasingly agitated. I travel frequently, and tend to put a hold on my mail if I'm gone for a week or more. Since I moved to Brookline, it seems that the breakdown of outcomes is approximately as follows: - 1 time out of 5, they have a bundle of mail waiting for you, to reward you for waiting in the line. - 2 times out of 5, mail is delivered anyway, and when you go to pick up any accumulated mail, they can't find any, even if you know for sure that other things should have arrived. - Another 2 times out of 5, you did not receive any mail while you were away, but they still cannot locate any mail for you. Anything that arrived while you were away is gone. Today is was the latter. They always smile politely and hand you a list of phone numbers to call early in the morning to see if you can catch the relevant supervisor, but I've never managed to get any information this way. The whole operation is like a slow-moving tar pit, filled with dinosaurs and sloths. If you can avoid it, run away to the sparkly post offices of Boston or Cambridge, with their electronic gizmos and efficient postal workers. read more
