Every time I go here, the people are awesome. They are super friendly, always willing to help, even throw out phrases rarely seen in customer service these days, such as: "Hi, how are you today?", "Thank you", "You're welcome", and even "Is there anything else I can help you with today?". Doing business inside gets an A+. That said, the mail service is a joke. There was a multi-week stretch that my apartment didn't get ANY mail for no apparent reason. Letters left for the carrier to be mailed out were not taken by the carrier and in one case I found my letters laying in the front yard. I had dropped a letter in the mailbox down the street and it was returned to me for no reason with no note. I called to complain and over the next few days we started getting mail that didn't belong to us, mixed in with some mail that we should have been getting. At the advice of the USPS office staff, I started marking the mail not intended for us "return to sender, refuse delivery", which the carrier of course never took back. I even tried dropping those things in the blue box down the street and they ended up back at my house. I called again to complain and they said they got a manager involved. After that, things leveled out. That was a few years ago, but service hasn't improved that much. Sometimes my whole street will go days without mail service, then suddenly my mailbox will be overflowing with 3 days worth of mail. Other times, packages I am tracking will show they are delivered to the Brighton USPS and then will sit there for days and days as I watch the "Expected Delivery By" date extend and extend. There have been many times when I have to go to the post office and pick up packages that were never delivered. There have also been times when packages never showed up but were marked as delivered. I am prompted to write this review today because I am on day 3 of no mail service and just saw that a package I am expecting was delivered to the Brighton USPS and was supposed to be delivered today, but the date just changed to tomorrow. So I guess I am now looking at 4 days of no mail service? Nice, Brighton USPS. According to Yelp, 2 stars means "Meh. I've experienced better". In this case, I would say 2 stars is accurate. read more

I've never had a problem here before, usually ship packages with no problems. TODAY makes me never want to go back! I used the self service to ship a large envelope and went to mail it. Women at the counter stops helping someone (there was a line of 7 people behind them) to yell at me that my envelope doesn't count as a large envelope (then what is it?!) and that it would be shipped back to me. I then got in line to solve the problem and she disappeared from the counter for at least 10 minutes leaving everyone to wait. She was extremely rude and everyone in line was giving each other looks. Terrible. I ordered a package that needed a signature. I wasn't there so they left a pink slip with instructions on how to schedule a redelivery. I did so, then they call back and tell me I have to pick it up in person. "Oh, I'm sorry you got confused, sir." Couldn't get an answer as to what exactly I was confused about. In the end, they got it right. I ordered (Amazon Prime) a textbook that I needed in a timely fashion. To my chagrin, upon arriving home on the day of expected delivery, I found no such package. Check usps website - "Undeliverable - Incorrect Address". This is what happens when one's name is not on the mailbox of an apartment building. My bad on that one. So, the next morning, I called and let the phone at this office ring until ... well ... it didn't ring anymore. Called right back. Got an answer right away. Strange but true. Told them my story. Told me the name on the box thing. Then, I talked to the sorter? maybe? or the carrier? not sure. He told me he could not remember a package for my address...got my name...couldn't find anything. Ok, I'm getting nowhere or so I thought. And, so I said great I'll check back later. Well apparently they found my book, because at 12:)) something or other o'clock I got notice that it had been delivered. And, sure enough, when I got home, my package was there waiting for me. I am not sure what happened from the time I hung up to the time I got home, but it does feel good when things end up where they should be. I appreciate their effort to take care of this for me. Repeated incompetence in the actual handling of mail left in local mail boxes. Whenever I call the USPS main hotline to complain about missing or mis-delivered mail, they tell me to take it up with my local branch, so that's what I'm doing here. The latest episode is that I put my real estate abatement application for FY 2015 in the mail on January 26th, well in advance of the February 1st filing deadline (usually only takes 1 day to get to city hall), and weeks later it got returned to me for missing postage. Except, the postage WAS on it, in fact the postage is dated by the meter in my office and corresponds correctly to the weight. So, the Post Office handler was too stupid or lazy (or both) to even see that there was metered postage on the upper right corner of the envelope where one always finds postage. Net result = post office effectively stole postage payment by not delivering on its end of the promise to actually deliver the mail, and I am out close to $1,000.00 on what I consider a meritorious abatement application due to a failure to timely file that only occurred as a direct result of post office incompetence. read more

This was the worst customer service I've received in a very long time. Not only the associate was very rude and spoke with a very bad attitude, she also treated me with a negative uncooperative behavior. When I tried to ask a single question she did not make eye contact and responded very abruptly, and again with a bad attitude, and pointed to a listing on the counter and said "read the list." I tried to ask a clarifying question she then again responded with: "just read the list" while looking away this time. Furthermore, after she acquired what she needed from me, she walked away without saying anything and left me waiting for more than 15 minutes. That is very unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. I was on my way to work when I stopped by, thinking I would only spend 5 or 10 minutes, but ended up staying for more than 20 minutes for a simple matter that I've never had any problems with in the past 6 years while conducting business at USPS. Unfortunately this experience has left me with a very bad impression and the urge to just cancel everything and get out of there without looking back. I've had already spent a considerable money and I was willing to leave it behind because of this experience. It is needless to say I will never be conducting business here again. read more

This location has a super easy to use 24/7 self service kiosk, plus they have a ton of packing and shipping supplies for sale (those are only available during regular business hours). You can get all of the "if it fits it ships" boxes anytime though, so that's nice if you need to ship something but don't have supplies and can't get there during business hours. Plus those boxes are self-adhesive so you don't need tape, etc. I've been to this location a few times as well where I dealt with the staff. The lines can get understandably long on Saturdays, but the staff are courteous and do their best. read more

Where to start... I had an Etsy order shipped to a residential address and the mail carrier would not deliver/leave the package, because there was no name listed on the mailbox (none of the other houses in the area have names shown). This is a residential neighborhood. I have packages shipped to my mother's address, because I live in an apartment... and packages are left outside/visible to all. I called the post office last week (Friday morning) and explained my issue and the gentleman on the phone assured me that he would leave a note and that the package would be delivered Saturday. Saturday passes and no package. I called Monday and spoke to the same employee - I provided my full name, my mother's name, as well as the order number. He assured me the package would be left Tuesday. It's now Wednesday and I just checked the tracking service and my order was sent back to the maker/shipper half-way across the US. I'm thankful my order didn't come from outside the US. This has honestly been such a hassle. I understand that the Post Office wants names on mailboxes. It can be busy during lunch time but they do their best to make the line move as quick as possible. What a horrible experience and shocker, every service representative was miserable. After waiting in a very long line, as always, I was finally helped but rudely told to step aside while they took the next customer. I had everything prepared, so I thought, all I was simply there for was to adhere a shipping label to a box and scan the prepaid label, what did I do wrong, (I've also followed this same process numerous times at other locations), but the representative told me to go purchase the tape and then get back in line "we don't give out tape," said with a tone of dismissal and annoyance. I asked if this was a new rule as I've always been able to use the postal service tape to stick a shipping label to a box. She was clearly irritated with me and wanting me out of her way so I left, after waiting for so long. I'll never go back to this store again, I'd rather drive the extra few miles to go to any other location that I know will let me use their damn tape- after all, it's how you stay in business USPS! read more

The gentlemen took my number and said he would call me back. He called the driver, had him return the package and told me it would be there in 1 hour for me. Always an issue with my package, with my postage, etc. Where at the end it is the incompetence of the employees, they can't find the package and do not know evidently that flat rate envelope doesn't require additional postage. The manager, Mike King I believe, just made my day. I used to live in Brighton and never had bad experience per se with the post office but today the manger went ABOVE AND BEYOND to correct a situation for me. On the PHONE no less! I had an item shipped to my old apartment by accident and calling the post office was my last ditch effort... and it was SO worth my time. He took my information, LISTENED TO ME (so important) and fixed the situation. Well I won't know if it's truly fixed until I get my package but even if I don't this is so worth the 5 start review. It's going from fedex to USPS, the post office doesn't even have it yet and they were 100000000% times more helpful than the person on the phone at fedex. I know bad things happen to mail, but good things happen to. My faith in humanity was restored today. At least until the next problem comes along. Incompetent. Was supposed to get box over a week ago and they didn't even notify me that they failed to deliver. I schedule a redelivery and they didn't notify me that they failed to deliver again. I had to contact the company that shipped it to me to realize that the box needs to be signed off. I try to reschedule a delivery but this time I'm not allowed to because the moron who tried delivering the box didn't input the reference code for my box into the system. I cant take with this post office anymore. I'm in a process of legalization and have some important mails sent to me by the immigration but the USPS decided to return most of them to the sender even though I went to their office to beg them to keep any mail for me that i would get it in case they decide to ignore my mailbox. I read a review that praised this post office as the best ever. Hmmm. I will say that the people working the window are nice and polite, but this post office is the slowest for general service of the several that I have used in my lifetime. When long lines develop, there seems to be no effort to bring more people to the service stations, even though there are people wandering around in the back that likely could help alleviate the line length. This is a city office with a lot of packages being picked up that are not capable of being put in the mail slots of the numerous three-decker apartment and condo buildings. Occasionally a clerk will come out and offer to help those who are there only to pick up a package, but this is not as frequent as it should be. Another issue here is that, because of a number of international residents or citizens traveling to foreign countries, there is, seemingly, a lot of passports being applied for. That process effectively takes one service station out of commission for a very long time. Some of the problems could be eliminated by the customers simply by having things ready to mail instead of appearing as if they have never mailed anything to anywhere ever before. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Paula today was beyond rude. I would be fired from my job if I had ever treated a customer that way. When I had made a comment that the last package I tried to mail to France never got delivered she began aggressively questioning me with a "you don't know what you're taking about tone" I told her I thought the package might have gotten stolen so I'd like to insure the current package I'm sending she immediately began firing off other possible explanations for my lost package such as stolen in France vs the US or that it could have been destroyed like any of those reasons are more acceptable!!!!!! I previously moved out of Brighton and accidently sent two packages to my old address. I realized too late when my packages were already sitting at the Brighton office. I called and spent a half hour on the phone with Donna who searched high and low for my package so it wouldn't get delivered and it would be forwarded to my current address. Donna went above and beyond. I can't express how good it feels to have been treated with such great customer service! read more

This is a great post office! I've been using this location for about 12 years. The employess are efficient, friendly and assist the best they can when I've had unusual requests. The fact that their lobby is open 24 hours with an automated weight/stamp machine is extremely valuable. read more

Rudest service, long lines, they just don't give a hoot. Not helpful. But they grill you about everything and check every penny of postage on pre-paid weighed items. Lose things all the time. The letter carriers just slap notices to pick up things, without even ringing the bell. They mark things delivered 15 minutes before they deliver. I have never written a review for the post office before, but I feel the need to write one after 3 separate incidents in this past month. I usually go to the Brighton post office; the staff is not always friendly, but that doesn't bother me so much. What disappoints me is the service which I think lacks integrity and courtesy. I have detailed the 3 incidents below: (I) First, I was supposed to receive a 2-day priority package on May 8, but it never made it to my door, and there was no notice left. Curious, I checked the tracking on the USPS website and it said "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)". I was at home the whole day waiting for it and nobody ever buzzed the door. Neither was there a notice. I went to the post office the next day (May 9) and the package was there. No explanation was given. Later, someone left a notice for this package on May 11 (Monday) saying to pick up at the post office-- when I already picked it up on May 9!!! The date of the notice was 'backdated' to May 8. (II) As for the second incident, I was supposed to receive a 2-day priority mail on May 14, and again, it never made it to my door. I checked the tracking on the website, and it said "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)", and "It is available for pick up" at the Brighton post office. I went to the post office and one of the staff, George tried looking for the package and he said it wasn't there. I asked him about the tracker saying "it is available for pick up" but he said "IT'S JUST THE SYSTEM" and told me "you should wait at home and it's going to be delivered to YOUR DOOR". I went home and waited for the package on May 15, nothing came. May 16, nothing came. May 17 nothing came. May 18 I was quite worried because the package was worth $300. I called the post office about it, and the manager answered. He was reluctant to track it for me at first, but when I told him about this case, he checked and said the package was at the post office! I don't know since when, too mad to bother, so I went to the post office and claimed my package. Surprisingly, on May 19 someone left a notice in my mailbox dated May 15 saying the package is available to pick up. III) Third incident of the month, I was supposed to receive a package on May 21, but nothing came. So I checked the tracking system and it says "We attempted to deliver your item at 7:54 AM on May 21, 2015 in BRIGHTON, MA 02135 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available." This is despite the fact that I was waiting at home and nobody buzzed the door at 7.54 AM when I was having my breakfast. But this time, I found a notice in my mailbox. People pay extra money for the tracking, and people do pay extra to make it a 2-day priority mail which is supposed to be delivered at their DOOR, not picked up at the post office! I feel that this money has been wasted to pay for undelivered packages and poor service. read more

I've had my signature forged for packages by these disgusting ass holes and then their managers lying to cover for them, numerous incorrect re-deliveries (ex: I'd schedule for the next Monday, they'd bring my package on Thursday), and rude delivery men who refused to help me carry 50+ pound packages when I was clearly sick and more than willing to give them a tip for the help! This post office sucks! Full of rude people who give you complicated bull for no reason. I sell clothes online in which they mail me a prepaid shipping label for a package up to 5 pounds when someone buys something from me. Great. Every single time now when I go to this post office just to drop off a package and get a receipt, they always make an excuse as to why I can't send it. It's either because the label required that I had to mail it a certain day (LIKE DAY OF WHEN IT WAS CREATED when I have 2-3 days in fact) or on this other instance that the package size can't be delivered to a certain area and I'll have to pay $45 for the shipping (it was a box that had a backpack inside.) Excuse me? I told them I have a prepaid shipping label and I've sent a package this size before without any issues... The woman with blonde curly hair gives me a speech and then goes, "go get your refund back for this label." Hell no. I went to another post office in Brookline that same day and they accepted it with no questions asked. There were times in the past that this Brighton location would just accept my packages with no ifs or buts but recently it's just been too complicated. So now I make my way to the post office in Harvard Square because they never give me problems and are very nice people! read more

I don't want to go there ever again. All I wanted to do is send a package with insurance and tracking. The guy at the counter didn't seem to know the correct thing to suggest, but that's not what bothered me. The other woman worker next to him jumped in and started to lecture me in a nasty tone about how package delivery doesn't include insurance (even though I sent a package 3 weeks ago that DID include insurance). She finally mentioned Priority Mail includes insurance and tracking. Well, I don't work at the USPS and I don't know my options, so sorry for not knowing that was how my last package got sent. But did she really need to humiliate me in front of others and even ask me if I could provide proof that my package was worth what I said it was? This lady needs to learn how to deal with customers. There are so many ways to send packages, we don't know how it works. So instead of lecturing us, please be nice and just help us. And oh, by the way, she barely let me speak while she was lecturing me so I couldn't explain to her what I was talking about. The workers at this USPS location are absolutely horrendous. I ordered a package, and it was delivered to the WRONG place; and they are charging ME to pick it up at the Brighton USPS. I ordered this for my friend as a gift, so I had it delivered under her name. Turns out I can't pick it up either even though I have the tracking number and the receipt from the seller showing that I paid for it, and had it addressed to my friend. I had my friend called ahead additionally to have the USPS office authorize ME as the person to pick it up. Seems like the people there do not talk to each other since I showed up at 9AM, and I could not pick up the package because the person my friend talked to did not show up until 11AM. The person at the counter did not even attempt to call the person with whom my friend spoke to for clarification. Pathetic service, this is why people are using UPS and Fedex, and why they are so broke. read more
