How can a package get from several states away to this station in a day but this station will hold packages for several days before sending them on to their final destination in nearby Bakersfield?! Yes, I want to let the post office know the rates on the PO Box will be going up this year, but the post office on Planz needs some TLC. There are so many weeds and trash and human fecal in one corner of the post office. Someone needs to get out there and clean this post office up. It's ridiculous. Terrible. Just terrible. This office needs to have some sort of accountability when it comes to sending packages. I purchased an item on eBay, which needed to be returned, so the seller issued me a prepaid label for the package. I brought the package to this office and had it scanned in at the counter. I was given a receipt with the tracking number. I never had any issues with mailing packages that had been scanned in by a carrier, so I entrusted them to have my package delivered with no trouble. Well, a couple months pass by and I noticed I never received a refund on the item. I attempted to check the tracking number on the USPS website and it listed the prepaid label was created, but no tracking info was available. I asked the seller if they ever received the package and they said they did not. Unfortunately, because it was over 60 days, USPS said they could no longer view info on the tracking number, and I can no longer file a claim on the missing package. As of today, nobody can tell me where the package is. So $100 out (price of the contents in the package) and essentially I'm SOL. If you want to ensure delivery of your packages and way better customer service, save yourself some trouble and take your business to UPS. read more

I've been to this post office location many times, as it is the one that is always open until midnight on April 15, not that I wait till the last minute to mail my taxes :). There is an area, just to the right as you pull in, where you can pull through and drop your mail off in the mailboxes. There is plenty of parking just to the left if you want to go inside to complete your business. This is a full service post office. There are post office boxes in the lobby. You can drop off mail, get it weighed to figure postage, send mail priority or overnight, just about anything you can think of. There are greeting cards for sale, and you can get packing and shipping supplies, too. The lines are usually pretty long when I am there, but they keep them moving pretty quickly. On this last visit, I ran into the mom of one of my students and had a lovely chat, which certainly made the time pass more quickly. The lady who helped me was friendly but efficient and had me back on my way in about 2 minutes start to finish. This location may seem like it's out in the boonies, but it's really not that far from where I live and there are not a whole lot of full service post office locations in Bakersfield. read more

Came in today 02/19/2020 at 4:30 I was shipping an item priority and needed a free tape label that is provided by the usps to write the address information. There wasn't any on display outside where they should be so I asked a old white lady in her regular cloth not in a regular usps worker blue outfit so I assume she was the manager. I asked her for a free priority mail sticker label and she told me the only ones where the ones that are available for purchase that costs a dollar. I asked her again telling her that I need the free priority label that all usps provide when sending priority. She said she didn't have any and asked the worker on the next register which was a Hispanic looking male in his mid to late 20'a if they had any he didn't even bother to check he immediately said we are out. Neither one of them bothered going to the back or checking the other registers for labels. So I was forced to buy the $1.00 sender label. As I'm waiting in line another worker comes out I would later learn her name is CANDY. She attends me and while she's checking my box and asking how I would like to send I tell her 3 days priority. She then says "You know next time you send priority we have free stickers we can give you and tape so you can write the address". I laugh and tell her wow really I just asked the lady in the first cashier for some and she refused to give me any and now I have to pay for this $1.00 label and tape roll. She apologized for her co workers negative attitude and incompetence. She asks me if I send often and I say yes so she goes ahead and gives me 3 more free labels. And goes ahead and apologizes again for her coworkers unacceptable customer service. I will not be going back here after the pathetic excuse of service I received. I think the old lady was the manager because she was in her regular cloth. If so she should be retrained to do her job as a professional if not I would even suggest firing her and promoting Candy to manager for her exceptional customer service. read more

HR is full of impotent workers, like Renee Anaya at the Pegasus Road location. Their hiring process is grueling and they throw a temper tantrum when you ask about the status of your application. Their hiring process can take three months...all positions which just require a high school-toilet tissue degree. Joining the USPS is like re-visiting high school. If you have a college degree, work there long enough until you find another job. read more

I have thought about this a bit, and this post office does qualify for five stars, because for me, this one is "as good as it gets", at least with the choices we have in Bakersfield. The parking is easy, there is plenty of it, and when you are finished it is easy to leave. The lines are seldom long except at Christmas holiday season. It is a bit out of the way, but it beats waiting 15 to 20 minutes in line at the Stockdale or Camino Media locations. The workers are civil, even friendly at times. read more

Okay, so this last time I actually had a rather pleasant experience. The staff was helpful and efficient. One man even managed to crack a joke and make a patron smile. A tip to fellow postal users - come prepared! Pack your items somewhere other than in the line. Have everything ready to hand over; it just makes everyone's jobs easier. It's a nice change of pace to have some friendly service. It will inevitably change back to grump old ladies waiting out their last few months until their pension kicks in. But until then, I'll do my duty and make everyone's lives a bit easier by having my packages ready to ship. As for the comedian postal guy - keep him around! read more

Closest post office to home. Seems like everytime I go there, at least half a dozen people will be ahead of me. I'm usually there a minimum of 15 minutes. Not much to do while waiting either. Fortunately, I do not have to go inside the post office too often. There are some nice mail boxes you can drive up to and drop your mail when you turn left upon entering the parking lot. I've never had a problem finding a parking spot for those times when I have no choice but to go inside. The customer service can be hit and miss. For the most part though, I have been treated very well and they have been very helpful to me. So since I do not expect too much from a post office...I'd have to give them 4 stars. Have never had a problem with the packages I send from here. Their close to home. They've solved the two issues that I've had in the past. I started this review by giving them 3 stars, but as I wrote more I've realized they deserve 4 stars from me. read more

One of the most incompetent mailing and parcel services in existence. Don't count on them being able to clearly read an address and deliver it. They "lose" packages frequently and then blame their customers. It's rare to get a hold of real person and even then, they are extremely rude and not at all helpful. On multiple occasions have they delivered my packages to random people on my street or they mysteriously disappear. Thanks to the laziest & illiterate workers at USPS. This place doesn't answer there damn phones. I was waiting for someone over an 1hr and I just gave up. My package was supposed to be delivered yesterday before 8pm. I never got it and I'm still waiting for it, the tracking update says I'll be getting it today before 8pm. This is bull shit the post office sucks, it's an important package and they can careless. We all know that going to the post office is rarely the highlight of anyone's day. Some post offices will at least make an attempt to provide some sort of customer service, but not here. I dropped off a pre-paid, fixed-rate box. Every time I've ever used fixed rate shipping, the rule is, "if it fits, it ships". Apparently, the concept of "fit" is different at this post office, and the slightest bulge of any surface of a fixed rate package means you have to put it in a bigger package. The package did have a slight rounding to the top surface. Not "fat guy in a little coat" style. More like "that was one layer of bubble wrap too much" style, which still meant repacking the item and waiting again in a very long line, which pretty much shot my whole lunch break. So much for pre-paying and pre-packing as a time saver. Apparently this post office will drain the life from you no matter what you do. read more
