Wow. I must not be on that USPS Auburn Special Ops Trained SEAL hit list because all of my experiences here have been basically good. Compared to say. DMV or even other PPC's, (Postal Purgatory Centers) rhe experiences bump this bad boy up to Fabulosity. Yes, there will be a line and it's likely to go out the door and right up someone's postal chute. Who will then annoy everyone by bitching about it for the next 3.75 minutes until clearing the line and out on their way back to Panera or wherever else these people go. I am very frustrated with the mail service on my route. Mail delivery has been repeatedly interrupted, and instead of receiving my mail, I continue to receive notes that come across as rude and unprofessional. The communication has been more frustrating than helpful, and the issue remains unresolved. As a customer, I expect reliable mail delivery and respectful communication. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. Important mail has been delayed, and I have been left feeling that my concerns are not being addressed fairly. These people are the worst! They always come after hours to a place of business to drop packages off and no one's ever here. They always deliver mail to wrong address and I never receive them. I'm a retired business consultant and every time I'm in the Auburn post office, i'm reminded how much they NEED to fix themselves. I wish they would. I've never had worse customer service in a post office and it always seems to involve a lack of employees/the manager. I stood in line with my bad back for 30 minutes AGAIN. Shocked to see a second teller in one of their five windows. Steve is usually the ONLY one working amongst the masses. He does the best job he can for working solo even amongst the pressure of the line going out the door with impatient customers (OFTEN). So the new guy that so kindly came down to help from another office was just finishing processing my packages when I asked him to help me track something that they attempted to deliver 14 days prior(??!!). Enter the Manager yelling to him from two windows down, " we're only here to take the money."..." that's what we do on this side.". "She needs to go to customer service if she wants help with that." It was rude and embarrassing, and to think she's the manager here. It's not the first time she's been rude in public. Im not one of those people that think they're special. However, I am disabled (awaiting my Walker replacement that broke last time I was in the post office) and it's very difficult for me to stand and wait in a line. And the Auburn post office is definitely NOT ADA compliant. No- at the Auburn post office, you have to wait in line to ship your packages and give them money (according to the mgr). And then you need to go and stand in another line (to the door) to get a question answered and or to try and retrieve any incoming shipments/deliveries. Their system is so old-school backwards they hand write the 22+ digits of a tracking number to try and go find your package. It's laughable. In a world where we are fois gras'd technology, our post office is still using quill pens so to speak. Bottom line... My advice is : #1- believe it or not... The customer is still always right! Businesses should be run to be customer based and friendly. Except for Steve (& the new guy), This is not the case at the Auburn post office #2- Customers should NEVER have to stand in more than one line in the same location. And it should definitely not be for more than 20 minutes! It took an hour and 20 minutes total to deal with the post office yesterday! Get organized to be efficient! #3-after having dealt with this post office more than a dozen times in the past five weeks, that lack on technology, staffing & mangement are factors in the long wait times and inefficiency. I have tried to change post offices and just shy of obtaining a postal box at another office, I am forced to use Auburn post office. Not a happy day when I have to. Please fix yourselves. read more

We had an appointment for passport services. We did have a half hour wait and then were nearly turned away because of a staffing shortage, but Steve resolved the issue and took care of us. He was really funny and helpful and we genuinely enjoyed our experience with him. Thank you Steve! read more

Today was a very disappointing interaction with the people working here and it was concerning the numerous mistakes that were made. I came in because I had a package I needed to pick up and pay extra postage on. I received a "sorry we couldn't deliver" slip that only had our address on it (no name) so I wasn't sure if it was my package or one of my family members package, but either way i wouldn't mind paying for $4 postage. I am waiting on an international package so I assumed it was mine. When I arrived to this USPS, I didn't know where to go so I waited patiently to ask the lady at the counter that was counting money. I know how annoying it is to be interrupted while counting money so I just stood where I was, which mind you was a couple feet away. I didn't even go directly up to the counter, I waited at the doorway. She looked up at me and that caused her to lose count and she let out a "UGHHHH" and then looked up at me with a blank expression to help me. That was already very uninviting but I let it go. She directed me to the door I was supposed to wait at for my package. I waited for 20 minutes, which was a long 20 minutes, but I knew they were short staffed so I didnt let it get to me. The lady then took my slip and brought my package to a guy at the counter so I could pay for the postage. I asked him if I could look at the package before paying postage to see whose name was on the package. There was a name I didn't recognize (at this point I didn't look at the address because I assumed the workers would give me the correct package and we've also received packages from the previous owner of the house we live in now so I assumed that's what it was). I explained all of this to the guy. I asked him if I could take a picture of the package so I can ask my mom about it later (to see if it's the same name as the other mail we've been receiving). The guy's attitude made me feel like I was in the wrong for questioning the package rather than just paying for the package and leaving. I would assume once I said "I don't recognize that name" he would double check the package to make sure he's not giving me some random persons package and or refuse to give it to me. He did none of that, he didn't even look at the package at all. So then I asked if I can leave the package (because it's not mine, so why would I pay for the postage PLUS even if I paid for the postage i still don't think I can legally open the package because it's not mine), not pay for it, and take my "sorry we couldn't deliver" notice. He shrugged his shoulders, didn't say a word, and hesitantly gave me my notice back. On my drive home after spending 25 minutes there, I realized that I never verified the address so I looked at the photo and the package didn't even have the same address. It had the same street but the number of the house was not even close. I get that mistakes happen, but when two separate workers had this package in their hands before giving it to me, ESPECIALLY after I said I don't recognize the name, how did they both miss that the address wasn't even correct? It quite literally takes 3 seconds to verify an address. I understand I could have also checked the address, but imagine my intentions were to take the package that wasn't mine? They would have easily allowed for that to happen which is concerning. From a company like USPS, I would expect them to hold their workers accountable to prevent giving out the wrong packages and double check every package, but from my experience tonight, it's hard for me to feel confident that my package is safe in the hands of this USPS. And when I do the right thing to not accept the package, they would give me a weird attitude. Disappointing. read more

I accidentally transposed two numbers on a zip for a package and sent it to Auburn instead of Folsom. The Auburn team has been spectacular at finding the package and sending it to the correct location. So so grateful to the team!! read more

TL;DR this post office sucks right up there with the one in Grass Valley. 5/15 update: saw mail truck at end of the driveway in front of the open gate just before 7pm. Truck pulled away so I went to get my package. No. Package. Didn't even attempt to deliver and it was not put in the parcel locker either. I will be making another trip to the PO tomorrow morning. I have a riot act to read. Our regular carrier out of this location is a treasure. He gets a gazillion stars for always going above and beyond when handling our packages and mail. I dread when he's on vacation or his day off during the week because the sub is guaranteed to screw things up. Yesterday was no different. Expecting a package that arrived in Auburn early Saturday morning and shown out for delivery. Nope, wait, someone put it on the wrong truck and it went to Colfax PO. From Colfax it went back to Sac and returned to Auburn Monday morning. Out for delivery. Then tracking showed at 1pm Monday it was back in the Auburn PO. So we closed the gate about 7pm. Carrier showed up 30 min later and took the package back to Auburn rather than leave it outside the gate overnight. Tracking now says package held at PO by customer request. Well no I did not request it be held so I drove down there to pick it up because if you try to call, they DO NOT answer the phone. Lady at the will call window checked and said the package not there and is out for delivery. Ok fine. Leaving gate open until package is delivered. Problem is, it's our carrier's day off. Sub does NOT bother to come to the house at 6pm through the open gate and deliver two packages. Left note in mailbox and I had to schedule redelivery for today. Hopefully our carrier is back on duty today and I can count on him to bring the packages to the house. It's really sad that our good carrier is the exception not the rule for postal employees and services. It's abysmal. They'll hire anyone with a heartbeat and pulse and it shows. read more

Every time our mail delivery lady is off: the substitute leave packages that don't fit in the mail box, on the ground, in the flower bed, in the middle of the drive or even now thrown in the neighbors yard. Why does the good quality of service provided by our mail lady go to poo when someone else delivers? Door is 40 feet away and just set out for porch pirates to not have to go to the porch? I've complained to the post master general, but nothing ever gets done. It's always empty promises from the management here. This post office represents and demonstrates the worst service at all levels. In-person services are horrible. Limited opening hours and rude, unprofessional staff. Yes, I mean ALL OF THEM.I avoid visiting at all costs. If your unlucky to have delivery done by this post office, you will understand. Letters, most weeks I get mis-delivered letters and others get mine resulting in missing mail. I may get a kind neighbor to return my mis-delivered mail but sometimes not. Packages - This is where they really suck. They are usually late, late meaning 50% do not get here on time. I see the tracking information and they get a package from Amazon, typically in the early hours of the delivery day. Then, it will be sent to another post office, typically Roseville where it adds a day or two to the delivery. Other times they simply lose to package or delivery it to the wrong address were it becomes a gift! No consequence, Amazon and other senders have to foot the bill because tracking info states it was delivered. In the last 6 months we are seeing new problems with packages. Many folk have installed secure mailboxes under a recommendation from USPS when we disputed lost and mis-delivered mail. When a package does not fit in the mailbox, they leave it on top, on a busy road in full view, just waiting for it to be stolen. This typically happens to the whole neighborhood. They are supposed to deliver to your address if it does not fit in your USPS mailbox. Another new package issue is failing to deliver or even try to deliver. Towards the end of the day, the delivery truck just takes your packages back to the post office and set a status that address not found, or some other excuse. We have literally stopped a USPS delivery van that failed to attempt delivery and they said "We don't know where all these addresses are". Out packages were in the back of the van! USPS need performance standards and consequences for those not reaching them. That starts with staff training and good leadership. Auburn PO has not had that in 4+ years. I truly hope that the USPS is privatized or closed down. read more

For some reason the post office has decided to no longer deliver most packages to my apartment complex. What a waste of resources for the packages to be on the truck AT THE COMPLEX and then they decide to not leave it in the parcel locker or bring it to the door. I talked to a UPS employee and they said there isn't actually a reason for this, just laziness on the USPS employees part. Half the time they don't leave a slip saying that I have to pick it up from the post office either. I find out from the company that I ordered from that my package is being "held". And most of the time when I do go to pick it up from the post office, they can't actually find the package. I just have to wait and see if they decide to deliver it which has taken upwards of a month at times. What a garbage institution. read more

Let me first start off by saying I hate this town considering they hijacked my life for 2 years for taking a car for a test drive. However, that has nothing to do with their post office so let's get to that... I was mugged and had all of my identification and credit cards stolen. I had just moved from my home and was living out of hotels but since my ID was stolen I couldn't access my bank and was having to sleep on park benches. I had to go to the social security dept and human dept services to get an ID and replace my social security card. I was told I could have my mail sent here labeled general delivery. So I had my mail being sent here and then I moved. I waited three weeks until I got confirmation that all my mail was delivered. I drove 2 hours to pick it up to be told what I was doing was illegal and they sent all my mail back to sender. I had to wait to get a social security card and medical card for it to be sent back. On top of this ,one woman handed me two packages stating they were mine. I opened them to find size F bras which clearly does not belong to me. I look at the name on the package and the name was no where close to mine. I handed both packages back but now I got to go through the whole process again. Yuck!! read more

I live in a senior apartment in Auburn Ca and I have to say, after talking to several of the residents here, the mail delivery in the past several weeks has gone down hill. Mail is not always delivered daily, mail is left on top of our mailboxes, mail is crammed into our mailboxes, torn and crumpled, people are getting other people's mail. What is wrong with you people in charge at the Auburn Post Office?? I've read several of these notices and 9 out of 10 are how horrible your mail delivery people are. Get your crap together and screen your applicants for mail carriers better. Oh, and stop raising the price of stamps til you get better at your job read more

They show up (sometimes) punch a time clock and await their pension. Absolutely the worst. The physical location is fine. It's government run, so that alone is reason enough to lower you expectations. Funny how the only way they rate higher than 1 star is because of a 5 star review from someone who clearly doesn't actually rely on them to receive deliveries on time or often at all. That is where this location epically fails... on a regular basis, and has for years. I am experiencing yet another failed delivery. This time 5 packages all due to arrive in the last 2 days, not only not delivered, but now status and tracking no longer available. And since the physical location doesn't answer their phone or offer a way to leave a message, who knows if my items will ever arrive. Straight up lying with a smile, this post office is always packed and the twit who likes to walk around with her clipboard asking people if they need help while you're waiting online is just plain awful, she has been rude and downright nasty to people, some of the workers are very nice and it's terrible when they get blamed for the other lazy, rude & obnoxious coworkers behavior. Courier is lazy, leaves missed mail slips when he doesnt want to get out of his car. (Camera at front door to prove) They deliver packages 1-2 days late. Recently package was set to deliver on tues. its thurs morn, I ordered a package that I needed for my trip today. I was told to check at 6am and if it showed scanned into facility, to come in and knock and they would grab it for me since it was their mistake. He said if no one answers, to call. I called, its forwarded to citrus heights. Been here an hour, been ignored by 2 employees, and the couriers continue to ignore knocks as they sit and laugh on the opposite side of the door. Came for our twins passports. Was supposed to be open at 10am. They didn't open for passports until 11:15. Then every time the lady called someone up, she disappeared for 10 mins, not having looked at any paperwork before hand. She could only do 5-6 passports before she had to lock up for lunch. After 72 DAYS of NO mail after moving from Auburn CA to Montana, 11 phone calls in total, to United States Investigative Dept. , filing 3 claims, and having 3 discussions with the so called Supervisor Jesse. at the Nevada St. Post Office, I would file a lawsuit if it would get me anywhere, with these Incompetent, Uncaring, Postal Workers. I am not sure why the post office is on Yelp because it's not as if we can not use them, however, if I have a choice in who delivers my packages, it would NEVER BE THE POST OFFICE, especially this location. I cannot thank the auburn USPS team enough! A package of mine got delivered to the wrong address, but after going into the office to ask about it everyone was incredibly helpful and apologetic. One of the worst carriers out there. They don't even try to deliver the mail/packages. They mark it as failed (without even attempting to deliver) and move on. This has happened multiple times. It's bad enough when they can't even deliver packages to the right house but now there's this on top of it. I don't have all the time in the world to wait in the incredibly long and slow lines to pick up the mail that should've been delivered in the first place. They've consistently gone downhill and are incredibly unreliable. read more

In the first week of January, I packaged my Zippo blue lighter for repair and went to Auburn CA post office for postage + trackable shipment. Three days later my package was unexplainably rtnd to me. Upon seeing my postman the next day he, nor I, could understand why. So he took the pkg back to the PO and, later told me that me, he'd given it to a supervisor. After repeatedly attempting to track the pkg via the USPS's website to no avail, I call the PO and was told Zippo has the package. So, I call Zippo customer service (CS) and ask for a status on the repair turnaround time. I'm told that they have the lighter, but cannot give any info because it hadn't been entered into the repair dept's database. Several calls later to Zippo CS over the next weeks resulted in the same replies. So at the end of January I call Zippo and spoke with SE in another dept and was told that based on the trk#, the pkg made it to the PO in the state of Penn but again was rtnd to the state of California. The next day my original pkg was in my mailbox. So, it's back to the Auburn PO I go. The clerk looks @ the pkg and tells me that postage / barcode was placed incorrectly on the pkg....on the FROM side, not the TO side; that's why it was rtnd. I explained that: (1) they were the ones who applied postage - not me (2) it made it across country + back to me. Can they resend it? Reply: NO, unless I repay. All my fault? No feasible answer .... so it's supervisor time. Supervisor (Sup) looks @ pkg, sees / comprehend issue, and decides to resend pkg PO Sup to PO Sup. Three days later, I call the Penn PO and speak with the Sup who tells me that she did indeed receive the package and it was placed in the Zippo bin for delivery. I again call Zippo for confirmation of receipt; finally, get an associate of SE who confirms receipt of pkg by providing me with details of pkg's contents (I.e., email, phone #). YEAH!!! Yesterday Zippo rtnd the lighter - Auburn PO didn't return it to them TWICE - .... perfect repair!!! Some of the lessons learned: (1) PO is losing money because of incompetence not technology...kind of hard to justify repeatedly returning my pkg to me when it was properly addressed; they blamed it on code reading machinery - what are the HUMANS for? (2) CS has gone to the dogs; nowadays, we are fed misinformation or are unable to understand accents....I was repeatedly told my item had been received when, obviously, that was NEVER the case - OVERWORKED? CALL CENTER QUOTA? Or JUST DON'T GIVE A D@MN mentality (3) When things appear ODD, trust your gut, they usually are!!! read more
