This USPS public office, located at 145 Univeristy Drive, Amherst, MA, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. There are no automatic door openers for entering and exiting both the public foyer and the servicer desk area. I witness disabled, injured, and elderly patrons having to wait for other patrons to open and close doors for them. The ADA requires independent access. This is a disgrace. read more

I mean, it's the post office. My expectations were low. But this particular one is open til 5:30, there was no line, and the person who helped me was very friendly and gave me some tape to better secure my labels. Again, on the scale of the post office, this one got a full score. read more

I downloaded this app while sobbing in the parking lot just to write this review of this awful establishment. I would give it 0 stars if I could. I approached the woman at the counter (after only just finding out the counter was open bc the maps app wrongly has them closed as of 4pm) and asked about a mailing destination for my state and federal taxes in which I was cut off to be told "i don't know you have to figure that out on your own" a very nice customer who had over herd this offered to help figure it out with me, as he didn't know either but is a decent human who's main concern isn't making sure they closed on time. As I work to "figure it out on my own" I was then told to move out of the way so the man (who was in no rush) could be rang up followed by being told to hurry up because I only had 5 minutes before they closed. I proceed to fully break down and sob (deformation of character might I add) as I am clearly just a very stressed and flustered college kid trying to snail mail their taxes (which they should be thanking me for keeping them in business) already a day late just because this woman and manager (who just observed the whole encounter) couldn't lift a finger to try and help me. Don't even get me started on the fact that I tried to help them in pointing out the error on their closing time on the maps app because psa: this post office isn't looking to give or receive any help read more

This past week I stopped in at this Post Office to send out some mail. This Post Office located conveniently near Umass campus fluctuates between being great or bad. The overall experience differs depending on the staff. Most recently I have had good experiences here so I have to say that it is on the up and up! I hope that my experiences here can continue to be amazing. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. I just moved to the area and have had to visit this location 3 times. Each time ranged from annoying to nightmare. On the last occasion I went in with an international express package to be shipped. I'd printed the labels at home, but was unclear on how/where/which of the 3 customs/shipping label to apply. When I asked the woman at the counter for a little help on what to do, she flat out told me (no kidding, this is a quote), "I cannot help you with that. You printed the labels at home so you are supposed to know what you are doing. I can't tell you anything." ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?! She told me that since I printed the labels myself all she could to was accept the package. I asked once again, can you just tell me which of these labels needs to accompany the package. Her reply, "We're not allowed to do anything if you printed the label." WORTHLESS. I've never had such a bad experience at ANY post office across the country. If I'm not mistaken, by using USPS, printing labels at home or purchasing at the post office, is what pays her ridiculous government salary and benefits. I think I understand why some of their employees "go postal" if they have to work with people like this. I'll be going to the Hadley or North Amherst locations from now on, this one is pathetic. The only thing worthwhile there is the 24 hour drop off service where you don't have to interact with the employees. ***For some reason this review is filtered by Yelp's objective filter (oxymoron), and is not counted in the Post Office's official star rating. Sent out about 25 cards at once- mostly local to the Western MA area. They inlcuded a gender announcement for my baby that's due at the end of the summer. The "outgoing mail" box was so filled that I had to basically shove them in and several people before/after me did the same. Well, suprise! More than 1/2 the cards didn't make it to their final destination. So much work went into each card, and I spent a lot of money and time preparing them. I'll make sure to drive to another post office next time. Won't be taking any more chances with this group. read more

Once in awhile I experience a long wait but 90% of the time, I'm in and out in minutes. Very nice staff. I like the self service option for stamps but really wish I had more than Spiderman to choose from. read more

This is the WORST post office. I wholeheartedly agree with John R. The employees are extremely rude, and on top of that cannot even complete a shipping request. I was literally told "I cannot ship this right now", and then given a completely blank stare by the employee until I suggested that I return later to try again. HOW CAN A POST OFFICE NOT BE ABLE TO SEND A SMALL PACKAGE VIA PARCEL POST!?! On top of their inability to send packages, they have a propensity to make customers cry at the counter. Read the bad reviews so was afraid to go here, but since they closed the Fedex center on UMASS was the closest option. I was pleasantly surprised! The line was long but had little to do with the employees. Once I got up front, both employees working were friendly and helpful about the best and cheapest ways to mail my packages. Everything went smoothly and was cheaper than I was expecting! read more
