Wonderful staff! And just about everything you need. Small but very clean and up to date.read more

Last visit 12/04/11…read more BRAC has destroyed what was once a very nice military base and has turned Aberdeen Proving Grounds into a civilian military base. Sure there are some uniforms running around, but less than 25% of the uniforms that were there before. The demographics of the few uniforms that are left is drastically changed as well. Almost all active duty posts the majority of uniforms are lower enlisted, young people just starting out. This is not so here at APG anymore, the majority of uniforms now are officers who have been around for awhile. What does this mean for Base/Post Exchange, well it means that they are not selling enough to maintain and have to consolidate. Clothing Sales (Military Uniforms) is part of the PX, and it went from large satellite building to being put in the Main PX near the shoe department. Most of the time if you need something now, you will need to order it and wait for delivery. Either that or head on down to Ft Meade, which is transforming as well, but will keep the majority of their junior uniforms. The PX specialty shops are dropping like flies.... The beautician's shop, coffee shop, sandwich shop, the florist shop, and trophy shop have all bitten the dust within the last several months. The barber shop is hanging on by a thin gray hair, and so too is the pizza place. When I rejoined the military via the Maryland National Guard 7 years ago, this was a bustling post, filled with a lot of junior enlisted attending one of several AIT (Advanced individual training [job training]) courses. These young soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines attending classes/training and rotated through every 3-6 months and many bought new stereos, TVs, computers..etc with each new class that arrived. Now the post has so few uniforms, it is so disappointing to see APG atrophy. BRAC has not only affected the PX, but it affects the daily lives of the civilian populace that once made their living selling goods and services to these young troops. In their place has come 5000 jobs from Jersey, mostly civilian, but a few military as well, but these people are established and do not need all those new stereos, TVs, and taxicab rides. I wonder how much longer AAFES (PX) can justify keeping the APG PX open.

I have come here years ago to get my passport, drop off packages and purchase stamps. I have never had an issue. Well one lady was rude but out of all the time I have stopped here I would say this is a pretty good post office. My passport was completed without any issues and my packages and letter have always made it to its destination. They do have a P.O. Boxes for rent, stamp sales, burial flags, passport processing and photos (make sure to look at their hours to make sure you get there when they are open.), shipping and I am sure several more things that I haven't experienced. They also have a self weigh and ship scale that's right outside of the doors that lead you to the person mail employees. Oh they also have a outside drive up mailer for envelopes just in case you don't want to go in. Parking is simple. They have a big lot so plenty of room for several cars. There has only been one time I had to park on the street because it was so busy. So, all in all this is a decent post office to me. If anything changes I'll be sure to let you guys know.

The post office said that there wasn't anything that could be done on their part because I did not catch it. Funny this is that I am sure in most other work sectors if an employee makes an error the business does right by the customer and fixes it. Apparently at the Post Office the employees can make mistakes, and it is the customer's responsibility to check over their work. Have never had an issue at any other Post Office but it was a $30 less learned. Here is your heads up to always check who your mail is being sent to.

Since when is it appropriate for a clerk to be on a personal phone call while assisting customers…read moreat the front desk? Several times, I thought she was speaking to me when she was speaking to someone through earbuds on the other end. Not only is this incredibly rude, but it also helps prove the clerk assisting me could not multitask. Her job is to deal with customers, not worry about whatever discussion about tuna she was having and monitoring her kids over the phone. When I tried asking a question about a zip code, she never acknowledged it. Then she took the overnight label I filled out, applied it to the envelope *that she never handed to me* and then sealed it as I was trying to point out that I was still holding the contents to be shipped, she said "Oh, I thought you already put it in". How could I when the envelope was on her side of the barrier? When I asked to start over, she ripped it open, inserted my documents, then taped it back up. Ironically, when the survey popped up on the touch screen, she reached under the barrier and clicked on the green smiley. I WOULD NOT have selected that one and she knew it. This also is UNACCEPTABLE, especially if they are rated on their performance with these. This particular post office is FAMOUS for opening envelopes/packages and stealing gift cards and money, so I won't be surprised if the documents I shipped don't make it.

This little Post Office is tucked away in a tiny little town outside of Falston Maryland called…read moreBenson. It is behind Jones car dealership. I found it by mistake some years ago and now I make it my stop for everything that I need to mail of importance. It is out of my way, but it is worth the trip and here's why. There are two amazing people that work there most of the time . One is the Post Master, who is a lovely lady. She is very charming and helpful in all instances and extremely friendly, and the other is a man named Derek. He also has wonderful qualities which just make you feel secure and know that your packages will get to their destination. I have brought both of them multiple packages quite often to go out of the country , and now with the new EU rules it's quite a tedious process to fill out the correct forms and do the things to be certain that everything goes smoothly. The nicest thing is that if something does not go well they are on it immediately and I have found that unfortunately that is quite different than many other Post Office's . Several days ago I mailed a package to Germany and it is very important that it get there. I asked questions about a different way to send it by priority mail , and Derek had all of the answers. Even when I'm sure the questions are annoying both of these people make their customers feel special, and as if they are very important. In this day and age it's quite difficult to find that type of service anywhere. Thank you Derek for your professionalism and your kindness and your knowledge . It's really too bad that the post office can't clone you.
