I have made the rule to only use the postal system for important documents if I absolutely have to. They have lost a few important letters over the past few years so I either try to send things electronically, fax, or go with UPS. Last week, I had no choice so I sent a few documents by priority mail that had to travel exactly 33 miles from this post office. Sure enough, they lost it. 100% done with USPS. read more

I know everyone like to read the negative reviews, so I want to say first that the counter staff at Abingdon is exemplary. They are wonderful, polite and personable and helpful. No complaints there. The moment the mail leaves that counter? Another story. My neighborhood has an entire Facebook group that should be titled, "Dude, where's my package?" It's nothing but wrong box, no key to the parcel locker, packages left unlocked in a parcel locker, etc. I get very busy at work sometimes and cannot pick up my mail every day. I use informed delivery to view if anything important is arriving. Usually it shows 1-2 mailpieces, so I don't stress too much about it. Went to pick it up this morning and received a notice inside saying that the residence was vacant and no more mail would be delivered. So. Done. read more

I'm not one to write reviews about a post office, but I just had to here! This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had at a government building. I was mailing a few items, one being a passport package, and the lady at the front, June, was SO helpful! She was kind, patient, and friendly. I couldn't get over how pleasant and helpful she was; she was a breathe of fresh air in comparison to other experiences at USPS. Worst service ever at this facility. They are frustrating to work with. I always go to the one in Bel air instead of this one because of this. The guy the works the window has the worst attitude. The brick on the building has a better attitude than him. read more

I know what you're thinking - 4 stars for a post office? No way! But way, indeed. So listen guys - there's a national delay with mail right now. I'm sure you know this. So when I called this post office on Saturday to ask why I had gotten an image of a piece of mail (informed delivery - try it out it's awesome) about a week prior, instead of having a bad attitude, the woman who answered the phone was very patient and actually explained to me that the images you receive in your informed delivery emails are scanned at a processing center (Baltimore) and not at a local post office. They are scanned and emailed due to the ESTIMATED date that you'll receive them; however, she explained that due to the national backlog, those informed delivery emails are basically invalid and to ignore them. She reassured me that they are doing everything they can to get the mail out and that they aren't holding mail. So bottom line is they're trying. Be kind to one another! read more

I am writing my review mainly on Reggie. Although I've had pleasant positive experiences every time I've went to the Abingdon PO, my review is about Reggie, our Carrier. This is a Mailman/Carrier that takes utmost pride in his work, and cares about people. He has gone above and beyond for over hundreds of residents that I can personally name. This man deserves all the good that can come to him. I just pray that his superiors treat him well. The way he cares for others he deserves it right back. Thank you Reggie!!! read more

Had a recent issue with the parcel locker key being stuck in our box, so called up the post office. The lady who answered the phone was so kind and helpful and the driver retrieved our package and placed it on our doorstep in less than an hour. Such a positive experience. read more

Post office is pretty fast and they have a good selection of stamps. They were a bit iffy mailing out my wedding invitations, but for everything else they are great. read more

Literally have been here like 3 times in the past two weeks and every time I have been greeted so kindly and offered so many services. I'm from the city and have been to many post offices from the county to even Carroll county and never have been treated so well. Will always come here for now on! read more

This post office is terrible. I usually order a bunch of stuff from China so I have packages everyday. On 4/25 , I received 2 packages but my tracking info said 4 were delivered. When I called to ask about it, they kept telling me that the driver already delivered. On 4/29, I received one package but again my tracking info said 3 were delivered. I am getting very pissed of as the driver keeps steeling my packages aftet scanning them. She never put them in my mail box. I am getting a lawyer to sue her. read more

The staff at this post office were very helpful and patient with me when I was applying for my PO Box. When I came back a week later to mail something, they were quick about it, and the line always moves quickly here. read more

our mail lady is horrible and when you leave something in the mailbox for her to take it takes her 2 weeks to remove from your mailbox. then yesterday in the pouring rain she leaves packages at the front door in the rain and everything was ruined. i called the abingdon post office and kim tells me that they are not required to put bags on packages. this is the mail lady i have seen her toss packages for the curb to the front door. read more

I haven't been to the office in quite some time. But I can say our mail lady is wonderful! We order a lot from Amazon either shipped thru USPS or UPS. If she delivers it she will make sure all parcels come directly to our door. She even made a note inside our mail box for when she is off to deliver to our door. She's wonderful. read more

I have lived in Abingdon for 2 years now and have NEVER seen my postal carrier!! I have complained numerous times about the delivery of certified letters. The carrier never knocks on the door but instead just leaves a notice in my mailbox. Any normal person, this would be OK but I'm disabled. I'm home 99% of the time (unless I have a Dr's. appt.) and he never uses the doorbell or knocks. The last two letters I tracked purposely to check this and sure enough, it continues to happen. Complaining at Abingdon post office has not helped either, they just take my name and address saying they will discuss this with the carrier. (You know that feeling that the paper with my info is just going to be torn up as soon as you leave.) I'm going higher with this because we pay enough postage to have such poor service!! read more

I moved to Abingdon about a month ago. My local postman was rejected ALL of my mail, including federal papers and utility bills, because I did not PHYSICALLY go into the post office and SIGN A FORM listing the names of the individuals who live here. I said I've never heard of this (Ive moved from Miami, Houston, Indy, Orlando) and the attendant replied "Ma'am I dont understand why your having such a problem." I've searched the website and federal rules and cant find this "rule" ANYWHERE. Its fairly illegal to create localized mailing laws - its a governmental agency people.
