We just moved here and wanted to register to vote for the upcoming elections on November 8. After…read morewe sent the new voter application and registration via mail we received two letters back requesting additional information. Since we didn't have Maryland licenses we needed to submit either a copy of our passport or an article of official mail like an electric bill that had our current Maryland address in order to complete the registration. Instead of sending another round of letters we decided to walk down to the Board of elections office to hopefully resolve it quickly. After showing our IDs to the front desk we were shown to the office on the first floor. There's a bell to ring upon entering the office and someone came out to greet us promptly. The clerk was very friendly and helpful and after collecting our additional information and photocopying it, gave us our voter registration cards. She gave us additional information for early voting and a phone number to call in case we had any questions. Overall it was a great visit and was a lot easier to come down to the office then to do things through mail.

The local volunteer fire department in Severna Park, MD…read more The cool thing about most fire departments is that they have some common areas that they rent out to the public for a variety of functions. We held our meeting in their Hall upstairs at their Fire Station. The volunteers did an awesome job with having to "order in" since Jonathan Atkinson and Former Chief Kenny Hyde's daughter from nearby Baltimore (who apparently now own or run t/a "Coastal Construction") So excited to hear that while I was on that side of the draw-bridge that this construction company is NOW just about to honor the correct completion without questions of their renovation of the Hall Kitchen and bathrooms and bring them up to code before they finish the job at the nearby restaurant they are currently working on. It will be great to see their comapny be able to get back to their fund raising efforts. Look forward to attending BINGO one Friday night in the near future and hearing that this Career Baltimore County Firefighter and Fireman's Daughter are doing the right thing in the name of public service. It is great that they will even be removing the old bathroom fixtures and replacing them with new ones just to be kind. ...WOW!

I called the fire department (this one obviously) and explained that it wasn't a huge situation. I explained that it smelled like chlorine and that there was smoke. Three fire trucks showed up. Me and my mother and brother were standing on the sidewalk when one of the fire men, dragging the fire hose into the house, rudely shouted at us to move. Only one of the fire men actually told us what was going on. And what's worse, they went to go check out the basement and ended up RIPPING THE ENTIRE DOOR OFF OF THE HINGES! I don't understand why people don't know how to open doors. They ended up leaning the door back on the frame and they turned all of our power off. They left without telling us about the door. My father almost fell down the steep stone stairs to the basement. I understand it most likely was protocol but I don't think they had to be rude about it. I also don't think they should've ripped our door off. -Logan

She wasn't familiar with what I was asking for so she phoned a supervisor who gave her the run down. The rep relayed she'd send my information to the appropriate department to look into my issue. I wasn't too sure as she didn't seem to take down any information. I was in and out in less that an hour. There's a parking lot close by, I believe it may be a commuter lot.
