The interior is nicely decorated, and this is one of those nail shops that serves beverages with a service, so I had a hot ginger tea it was absolutely exactly what I needed and delicious. My only complaint, is that I was not given the advertised Bday discount. The website says there is a 10% birthday discount that never expires. When I asked about a discount at checkout, my nail tech was unaware and very kindly went to inquire. One of her colleagues came over and input a five dollar discount, which was definitely less than 10% of my bill. Overall, the service was great, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the wait was short. I told her my nails are so soft and brittle, I just want to get a regular manicure to get my nails strong again. I was specifically told to come between 4:30-5:00 PM and that we would be assisted. However, the gentleman on the phone did not care to take down my name or properly schedule the appointment -- he simply gave us a timeframe and rushed off the phone. When we arrived, we were not accommodated the way we were told we would be. By 5:30 PM they were only just starting the third person, and by 5:49 PM they had finally finished the third person while clearly rushing through the service. During this entire time, barely anyone had even left the salon yet. What made this even more frustrating was watching station #15 take another client while one of the members of our party was still waiting. If there were delays or staffing issues, that should have been communicated honestly from the beginning. I complained THREE separate times about the wait and eventually spoke directly to the gentleman at the front, but he never followed back up with me, apologized, or made any effort to resolve the situation. Instead, both he and the lady at station #10 were constantly on their phones while clients sat waiting. Spending $166 to be treated like this is unacceptable. The ladies who worked on us were Sam and Diamond. Whenever the owner is here, he makes an effort to offer waters/drinks and make clients feel welcomed. Unfortunately, this staff did not provide that same level of hospitality at all. On top of the wait, my own service felt rushed and careless. Just because I got a basic mani/pedi does not mean the service should feel rushed. My technician did not even help me put my shoes back on after the pedicure, which is a basic courtesy many salons provide. To make matters worse, they tried charging an extra $6 for a cracked nail because acrylic was added to one toe -- something that was never communicated beforehand. She jigga- rigged it and the day after that, it broke and caused my real nail to split and I had to pry it off, and wait for it to heal a bit so I could get them redone, and the rest of them kept snagging people's hair. I don't have time for that type of nonsense because I need my nails for work. My clients have become so accustomed to getting a shampoo with my nails until I consider them a necessary business expense. I have been getting faulty nail services a lot lately, and having to go right back for repairs the next day after spending $80. There was once a time when one Asian nail shop was as good as the next, but now you have to be as picky about your nail tech as you are about your hairstylist. My toes came out great, but my experience with my fingernails was completely different. I showed my nail tech a picture of exactly what I wanted: a short square acrylic set. When she started putting on the tips, I noticed they were crooked. I pointed it out, but she told me she still had to file them, so I trusted the process. Once she started applying the acrylic, it was extremely thin and uneven. There was acrylic missing from the sides of my nails, and the application looked messy. I asked her if she could make them thicker and fix the missing areas, but she told me, "I want them to look natural." I had already shown her the picture of what I wanted, so I was confused because I wasn't asking for anything complicated. I eventually asked my friend's mom, who goes to this salon regularly, to explain to her what was wrong because I felt like my concerns weren't being listened to. The tech tried to fix them, but my nails ended up extremely wide, different shapes and sizes, crooked, and still very thin. They weren't even square anymore. The filing was also extremely painful. She was very rough around my cuticles and cut them to the point where they were bleeding. I told her my nail beds/cuticles were bleeding, but she continued. She then put rubbing alcohol on my nails, which burned extremely badly because I had open areas around my nails. When I reacted to the burning, she blew on my nails. What concerned me the most was that after my skin had been cut and was bleeding, she put her tools back with her other supplies. I'm not a cosmetologist, so I can't say what specific sanitation regulations apply, but that did not feel sanitary or professional to me. I left the salon to calm down because I was extremely frustrated. I ended up going back inside because I was still unhappy with my nails. A man at the front saw my nails and appeared concerned and sent me to another technician. The second technician was much gentler, made sure I was comfortable, and fixed the nails as much as she could. I'm leaving this review because I don't think customers should have to experience this, especially when they're being injured during a service. As of October 4, my fingers are still hurting from how rough the original service was. I'm also reporting my experience to the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers so they can determine whether the sanitation and professional practices I experienced were appropriate.
