It is hard for me to believe that I am visiting the same store based on some of the reviews that…read morewere submitted. I avoid this particular store in general. Customer service is bottom of the barrel when it comes to the corporate world. The ice bay has been empty on numerous occasions for as long as a week, when the across town store always has stock. On 100F+ summer days, it seems like a no-brainer to keep the bin filled. Long lines are standard, and I have never seen more than 1 checkout clerk whenever I visited. On my last visit, I waited 5-10 minutes, along with 4 other customers, while the manager rang up a customer and did balloon fill orders. The clerks work in slow motion and seem delighted when a customer leaves, lessening their work load. The manager seems bitter and uncaring. Processing a return is lengthy, and employees seem poorly trained with sarcastic comments. They win, because as a customer, I don't want a repeat visit; You need to have time to waste to shop here. This chain will likely only survive in poverty stricken areas where shopping choices are minimal for a survival mode budget. On the brighter side, I think the store would be an easy hire for someone desperate for some type of work, as the company service standards are so low.

Having grown up on a farm/ranch in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, I've been shopping at "farm…read moreco-op" stores for over 50 years now. Before moving to the Redding area 3+ years ago, I was a member of the Douglas County Farmers Co-Op in Roseburg, OR for 30+ years. I spent many thousands of $$ there every year to keep my sheep, horses, chickens, dogs, cats and 30 acres of land happy, healthy, and well stocked. After retiring, selling our farm, and moving to NorCal to be near our adult children, I was very surprised to find that there wasn't a "farmers co-op" in the Redding area, what with all the farming and ranching in the area. Tractor Supply tried to "pinch hit," for us--but since TSC was only about one-third the square footage of the Douglas County Farmers Co-op, there's just no way for TSC to match the vast selection of Douglas County Farmers Co-op's True Value Hardware items, clothing, boots, shoes, animal feed, veterinary supplies & medications, garden, yard, home & landscaping supply, logging, irrigation, submersible pumps for wells, and much more--"well," you get the idea..... I was thrilled to find out that Grange Co-op has just expanded to Redding (from the 6 locations they have in Southern Oregon, plus Yuba City, CA). Grange is larger than Tractor Supply, although not as large as the DC Farmers Co-op. I got great help yesterday, when I was out looking at some fencing, stock watering tanks, and tomato cages in their secure storage yard at the parking lot in front of the store. A couple of the items were not price marked yet, so a Grange employee tried to look up the prices on the "Grange App" on his cellphone, but needed to run into the store to find out the information. He was cheerful, energetic, and willing to go "above & beyond" the usual levels of service (running from outside into the store, then back outside again in the 90+ degrees Fahrenheit Redding weather). Because of our family's previous membership in the DC Farmers Co-op, we got a nice discount to sign up for their lifetime membership plan. We are very happy!
