They no longer carry a LOT of things that the old Cash n Carry use to have. 10 pound bag of onions was a pretty decent price, but the yellow onions in that bag were really small, not medium to large like the old Cash n Carry. I'll be sticking with CostCo from now on to purchase what I need, more of a variety, better quality, and priced more reasonably, even WITH the membership fee.

It's got cement floors and isn't very attractive inside (no carpeting, few windows, etc.). This could account for some of the messiness. But I found the staff helpful and knowledgable, as per the first review by Brooke. After I got past my first uncomfortability (I'm an older lady now, and feel a little out of place around younger service staff anymore), I was able to get good advice and was able to do some comparison shopping -- I've researched my materials ahead of time, and know what the wholesalers would sell to the public for, and the prices are fair. I didn't notice that the customers or staff were dirty, although the young'un at the counter appeared to be trying to grow a beard. As a customer, i'd like y'all to know that I'm a stable, middle class older woman, and I shower daily, wash my hands regularly and cover my mouth when I sneeze. I participate in several community volunteer activities with children, local churches and schools, I work, pay taxes and donate regularly to good causes, and I don't smoke marijuana or take any drug stronger than asprin (although I'll occasionally have a glass of wine or on occasional mixed drink with my girlfriends). I'm just letting you know this because I'm probably not the 'worst element' around ~ hahaha. When I was there, the other customers were mostly in my age and income range (by appearance). Meanwhile, if you don't know what you want before you go, it could be really confusing, since they have a huge selection and it's not real obvious what everything is for. So get someone to help you -- they'll be able to give you suggestions and answer your questions.

The soup is always hot, well attended to, and refilled regularly. At Placer Heights the salad bar is always fresh and has a dedicated attendant who also freshen the soups and cleans and stocks the bar. I've also seen (who appears to be) an upper manager who will periodically do spot checks with thermometers to ensure quality control. Wow! Very impressed! The deli is great. Meats and cheeses are always fresh. Produce is fresh and bread is fresh. Best deal in town for a sandwich and a soda! Produce rocks. Everything is fresh and presents well. But by far, the single main draw is the staff. Outstanding customer service professionals from the store manager to the Supervisors and from the head clerk to the grocery clerks and baggers. I went in one day with a plethora of questions, as I had an ailing daughter. He patiently educated me on several different remedies, and I was especially enthralled by his level of knowledge and expertise on the subject of mushroom species and their benefits. At home I implemented the vitamin regimen he had suggested for my daughter, and within a month I watched her flourish and heal significantly. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Anthony's sincere concern, and his willingness to educate me (and later on my sons as well) on various natural cures for physical health issues.
