The selection was really limited (and ordinary) at big box stores and other nurseries we visited. At Wyntour we found the sizes, quality and character pieces we wanted. Additionally, they have a huge selection of plants, trees, statuaries, wind chimes, seeds and gardening tools. Look forward to coming back in the spring. Oh, and the cat's name is Tuxedo. Several months ago they installed a new security system to deter break ins. It is motion sensored, and I'm assuming gets set off constantly by the stray cats in this area. When it first started it scared the hell out of me and my kids. We thought it was police with a megaphone on our street. Then we thought it was maybe someone driving by with a megaphone trying to play a prank. We couldn't figure out where it was coming from. After checking in with neighbors, we figured out it was coming from Northern Roots and was also becoming a huge nuisance to all of our neighbors. I went by the business and let them know what was happening. The employees argued with me for a bit about it before agreeing to let the manager know and also informed me they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked them if they would at least have the volume turned down. I was informed "that's not how it works." Months later now all through the night and weekends it goes off constantly. "YOU ARE TRESPASSING! PLEASE LEAVE THE AREA. THIS AREA IS UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE AND YOU HAVE BEEN RECORDED!" Constantly. Since earlier this evening and still continuing it has been going off every 1-3 minutes. I called the non emergency line and made a noise complaint an hour ago, but I doubt they can do anything until the business is open again. It's keeping me awake. I have to take kids to school early in the morning. Roman has to work early. I am losing my mind. So I'm going to leave reviews everywhere I can since Northern Roots doesn't seem to care about how big of a nuisance they are to their own community. Please keep this in mind next time you are choosing a hydroponic store. I will happily remove my reviews when they get a different security system. (In the time it took me to write this post, I documented how many times it went off...it has gone off TWELVE times)

I've been buying from Vic for years... well over 50 visits to his place. All good... but Recently…read moreI started having bad experiences. 1) went in for decomposed granite. Didn't pay attention to what actually went into trailer. Trusted the quality of what I was getting. Get home only to find out it's full of rocks. Rocks big enough to make it unusable to fit in between crevices of stepping stones. I had to return it.. which was something I've never done. Vic took it back, helped me unload it and was apologetic. Vic personally told me he "owed me one". 2) a month later I purchased 2 yards of concrete mix from Vic... was pouring concrete that day and found myself short about 1/16 to 1/8 yard. I went back to Vic.. kindly showed him photos of how I was a quarter wheelbarrow short.. and politely reminded him how I had to return the decomposed granite a month back due to all the rock that got scooped in with it. I thought Vic would Comp me such a small amount of concrete mix.. I was asking for 1/8 yard.. which at $38 per yard the math works out to be $4.75 of mix.. Vic proceeded to overcharge me at $6 .. I'm not upset over the price.. it's the principle of him "owing me one". I will start going to axner excavating even though it's 3 times the distance from my house. Vic lost a customer based on his apparent "word".

They have really great products, but our favorites are there organic soil mix and mushroom compost. The organic soil grows really great vegetables and Vic is very particular about not getting pesticide and chemical ridden material for his soils like most places in this area. Every three or four years if you add mushroom compost to the surface of your garden it will continue growing and producing in abundance. We found the mushroom compost to be very good or fruit trees as well. Put it around the base of your peach and nectarine trees to stave off leaf curl and produce sweet juicy fruit. Thanks Guys!

Half dozen roses were red and the other half were called sweetness roses. They were white with red tips. I tried to keep them away from heat, she told me to cut the stems at an angle under water, I was apprehensive, but I did it 2 days after I got them, because they were already wilting and browning. Even tho they only lasted 4 days at best, she did an amazing job!
