It's primarily a store for restaurants and food service providers. It has a warehouse/grocery store vibe. It's typically not for the timid, but hold your judgement for now. Example: Canned items are sized for restaurant use. A brand of chili I'm partial to has the weight of six pounds on the label. Just to give you an idea. Beef is not made into cuts like steaks or roasts. You get what are called "primal cuts" like the brisket, flank, sirloin, or round. Each weighing six pounds or more in most cases. So if you don't mind opening cans and portioning the contents into freezer bags, or cutting your own steaks, roasts, stir fry, or stew meat, you'll feel at home. And if you know your prices, you can find their sale items to be generous. Just have the freezer space to accommodate. That's not to say they don't cater to the regular shopper. Produce, bread, and some diary items are available. The selection of precooked vacuum sealed Asian noodles is worth mentioning. And there is a selection of pre packaged deli meat and cheese slices available. Some of them very good. The meat classics are there: like salami, roast beef, ham, turkey, mortadella, corned beef, or pastrami. Tip: if there is a one or two pound container of corned beef or pastrami, get one if your a fan. It's worth mentioning the bulk cheese section. Here you buy a loaf of provolone or Swiss at considerable savings. Just prepare your spouse ahead of time when you arrive home with a two foot long loaf of Swiss. And have the fridge space figured out. There are other cheeses ranging from bulk Greek feta, Gorgonzola, and Asagio, to Parmesan, Gouda, or mozzarella. Imported and domestic. Worth a look if you're a cheese or fondue lover. I pick up Mozzarella, Swiss and Provolone. Tip: warm clothing advisory - it's cold in that room. They have the primal cuts of mostly beef and pork in the same curtained off section. Bulk bacon and linked specialty items like hot dogs and Brotwurst are also there. The freezer section carries prepared items like burritos, ravioli, breakfast sausage, seafood, appetizers, and desserts. In bulk sizes. Again: if you know your prices you can walk out with some pretty good deals. Just have the freezer space. Pastas, flours, and rice: there is no shortage. The variety of name brand bulk flour and rice is impressive. Bulk size bags of pasta are competitively priced. Baking supplies should be compared. Bulk charcoal, usually three or more varieties is available in season. Red Mill is the predominant brand of flour: 25 lb bags. The store provides a large assortment of commercial grade kitchen supplies. Cleaning supplies, paper plates, freezer bags, foil, bulk rolls of plastic wrap, and various items used for catering. Serving utensils, platters, trays and commercial grade cooking tools and knives are offered. Large containers of mostly, but not all, common spices are there. Chef's Store does not provide bags for you to transport your goods. At the front of the store empty boxes that held bulk product are free and available for you to transport your food home. Since no bagging is done checkout is much faster. There can be a line but it moves. Staffing has mostly been adequate. If your into providing a spread during a football game, throwing a BBQ, or having a party - it's worth checking CS out. During game season the activity level is noticeably higher. If you become a regular, it's better to go there on a weekday before they get hit by the weekend party crowd. Parking is adequate. During weekends when there is a game it will get crowded. There is parking for disabled customers at the store front. Grab a cart before going in. Grab boxes when leaving or bring your own bags. PS: keep a sharp eye out for product not found in grocery stores. I found an Asian Tabasco sauce that was not available anywhere except at CS. This week both times I came to buy a couple hundred pounds of steak I waited 3-5 minutes with no movement in line. First day, just dealing with her slow hands. 2nd time, two checkers with 8+ in line. Woman at the register/door was rude to me and my partner and gave us the stink eye from when we walked in until we left. Other than that the small store had a great selection and got 2 large baking pans for $10 and they had every flavor syrup under the sun for drinks. Everett, WA Chef'Store So stopped by my local Chef'Store. I do say the parking lot was a bit dirty and garbage everywhere. Once inside I found my usual favorite things. I came in today looking for Pie Crust 12" but unfortunately they only had 6" the guy who looked like the manager was very nice and recommended a couple other options. Including make my own pie crust. Unfortunately due to time constraints making my own pie crust won't work. Check out was fast and friendly. Looking forward to coming back and purchasing so meat and cheese. read more

We come here to shop every few weeks. The name has changed a few times over the years but from what I can tell, everything has stayed the same. The prices have gone up a bit but what hasn't these days? Getting meat from here is a pretty good deal. I've gotten whole tenderloin a couple times and broke it down into different cuts. As long as you're handy with a knife, you can save some serious money on meat alone. Deli meats and cheese are also priced well. We have a commercial meat slicer and have saved a ton of money by getting and slicing our own meats and cheeses. Some other things we like to get are coffee syrups and powders, some fruits and veggies, and boxes of gloves. I worked in food service for several years and have grown accustomed to using gloves when I cook. The price on them here is fantastic. There are definitely some items that would be cheaper to get from other stores so shop around if you're looking to get the best deals. Also keep in mind that the store inventory on their website isn't really accurate at all. There were weeks that it would show something in stock but it would never be there. Just like any other Cash n Carry. You got to know your prices! There are a few items in Cash & Carry that are worth venturing in for because you can't beat the price: 1. a big sack of potatoes; 2. salad dressings that are in the cold section of the store (not where all the other dressings are in the aisle)--particularly the French dressing! However, don't stop here for a big bag of Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate chips for chocolate chip cookies as they can be purchased at another store for less. See what I mean by knowing prices. I went up and down every aisle making sure that I didn't miss any other exceptional bargain. Definitely an A-OK place to grab a few needed items. read more

I really, REALLY want to give five stars, but I just can't. The people stocking the shelves do an abysmal job at rotating their product. This is especially common in their deli meats and cheeses. I see this every time I shop there. The last time I was there, their deli roast beef had a bunch of fresh meat in front of meat that was expiring two weeks sooner. Proper (read: SAFE) food rotation requires you to always put the freshest in the back so that the oldest is sold first. I guarantee you that you can walk in right now, today, and find something expired on their meat shelves. We've learned the hard way. I trusted them to rotate their stock correctly and I've been burned more than once. We've tossed enough food that we now pay very close attention to expiration dates, because we just can't trust that it was done correctly. We have also brought home food (particularly pre-shredded Parmesan cheese) only to find that while it wasn't expired per the date on the package, it was already green and fuzzy in the center. As long as you are diligent about checking expiration dates, most of the time you'll be ok. The staff is generally friendly and even when there are long lines, they go pretty quickly. read more

This chain used to be called "Cash 'N Carry", but they rebranded/re-named themselves about a year or so ago. Thankfully, it's still the same capital-A-amazing place! When I lived in Redmond, WA, I visited the store in Bellevue regularly for my coffee syrups. Oh sure, they have lots of other fantastic deals on foods and food-related accessories and products, but for me, the grossly discounted prices on full-size coffee syrups makes this store totally worthy of visiting. If all you need is syrups and nothing else, it's still totally worth your time to come here. (Note that many folks use these syrups for cooking and baking, too - not just in coffees or other beverages). So I got spoiled, getting full-size sugar free Da Vinci or Toriani syrups here for $4.50 each, in a gazillion different flavors (yes, a GAZILLION, no exaggeration!), and it killed me when I moved out of WA state to see tiny bottles of syrup in the stores, often of inferior quality (lesser-name brands), cost 3, 4 or 5 times more per bottle. For real. So I started going to Bellingham occasionally to hit up Target and Trader Joes, to get a few essential items that I missed, and the Smart Foodservice store there. And I'm happy to report that the Smart Foodservice store here in Everett is exactly the same. I like predictability. Especially when I'm driving a long way to go to a particular store. I need to know that they're going to stock what I came for and the prices will be the same as at their other stores. On both accounts, this Everett store passes the test. They have tons and tons and tons of syrups, regular and sugar free, more flavors than ever, same price points (SO discounted!). And like their other stores, they have excellent hours of operation (open at 7am!), the store is clean and each aisle is clearly marked, the guys at the cash always ask me if I need help out with my stuff (nice!), and they take credit and debit, too. Note: they also have an excellent selection of mixers for alcoholic drinks, BTW, and lots of bar accessories, cheap. read more

I've always gone here for all my espresso ingredients. Reasonable prices but they are ALWAYS OUT OF SOMETHING I NEED. My past 7 trips (not sure why I still go here honestly) I'm never able to get everything I need, which leads me to taking more trips hoping they will be re-stocked, but nope. It's frustrating to go there a couple times a week hoping to find what you need. You ask staff and they are not very friendly or helpful. Who would have thunk-it. I'm not "really" knew the area, and I have to admit that I really don't get out as much as I should. However where has Cash 'n Carry been hiding? This place is not like Costco in the least. Its not crowded (at least not while I was there), and the prices are great. I am a flavored coffee drinker, I thought I had a handle of the different flavors available but jeez, they have an entire isle devoted to syrups. I heard the Angels singing a hymn when I looked down the isle. Store is very clean, they have a meat cooler as well as a produce. Huge walk in cooler for milk and stuff then they have a large wall for frozen stuff (fish, egg rolls, meat balls, etc.). Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, it's worth it to me. read more

I like Cash & Carry (a division of Smart & Final.) It's no Costco though, nor is it a substitute for Costco. Yes they sell things in bulk sizes. Yes their prices are better than the grocery store unless you are shopping sales. What is missing is the quality of Costco. I've not been happy with the quality of freezer items or the meats. I've also purchased spices that had their seal opened, presumably in shipping. I had no trouble exchanging the spice, to their credit. Costco puts a lot of research into the products they carry so you know you are getting high quality products when you shop there. Cash & Carry is where you go for low prices, period. Go for things you know you don't have to worry about quality on. Check seals. Check expiration dates. Make sure you know what you're getting and it's a great place. The staff are very nice. Oh, sometimes it's hard to find a box to take your stuff home in so you might want to take your own bags or boxes to be safe. You can't purchase everything they sell. They wouldn't sell us soda syrup because they said you have to have a re-sellers license to buy that. So shopping there can be a little confusing. The things they sell that you may not be aware of if you haven't visited: Serving ware, cutlery, party service, cooks tools/gadgets, bakery items, produce, dairy, meat, bar supplies, janitorial supplies, a whole aisle of Torani and DaVinci syrups including sugar-free, and lots of other things you might have never considered. It's a fun place to visit just to see what they have. read more

I go to Cash and Carry regularly. They are open to the public, and carry the bluk items you normally think of buying at Costco, but also smaller items that are grocery store sized. I find the prices at Cash and Carry are better than a grocery store, and better than Costco on a regular basis. The selection is pretty limited, but what they do have is well worth getting. I can't find any place in town to get as good a deal on flour, rice, garbage bags, or cheese, and I shop around like crazy for deals. read more

We love Cash & Carry. The selection is phenomenal. The aisle with coffee flavoring is every aspiring or home baristas DREAM. The prices are fantastic. Definitely check out the weekly hot sheet specials for some fantastic deals. Cash and Carry allows us, the general public, another option for buying in bulk, without the membership fees. There are also items you don't have to buy in bulk. So don't think this place isn't for you if you aren't feeding an army. The staff is great. I am always greeted by someone, asking if I need help finding anything. Everyone has a great sense of humor and they are so polite. Next time you need to do some shopping, stop by Cash and Carry. I go there several times a year. It's ok. I still hold a grudge from many years ago, probably 2005. I bought a box of frozen cheeseburgers. I remember it was odd when it came time to ring them up because they didn't show up. About a month later I make one for my stepson and he says it tastes terrible. I taste it and it did. I looked at the expiration date and saw that it was like 2 years past the expiration date. I went back to the store to return. I didn't have a receipt. The guy argued with me and wouldn't refund the 11 bucks or so saying they didn't stock those and saying I must have bought them somewhere else. Well I was doing all the grocery shopping and I had just bought them there. It wasn't a mistake on my part. He got really pissed and told me to not come back in the store again. I called the Lynnwood location and ended up returning them there. They were really nice. I will say their shopping "carts" are the worst f'in design ever. Just absolute crap. Hard as hell to maneuver in the small store. You would have to use one to understand how bad they suck read more

Always happy with the selection and polite staff when questions need to be asked/answered. The problem I experienced today, unfortunately related to this Covid-19 pandemic, is that there is a huge sign at the front door specifically stating "Face Masks Required Please" yet when I walk in there are a lot of people in the store without them, including one of their employees, not cool. Not worth the wait in a long slow moving line with slow moving checkers with zero urgency to get people through the line faster

Less than 2 weeks before our wedding we found out we could only have compostable cups for beverage service at our venue in Seattle. Abbas was so helpful and accommodating, he told us where to find the right cups to use and in a matter of minutes was able to exchange the cups we originally purchased for the ones we needed. We paid the difference and he congratulated us on our upcoming wedding, then told us "now you have one less thing to worry about!" For those who have late minute changes to big events like a wedding, Smart Foodservice is definitely customer satisfaction focused! I will gladly be back again and recommend to all of my friends. Awesome location. Parking can be kind of a pain sometimes so I suggest going early in the mornings to avoid having to park somewhere else. Not everything is in bulk like Costco, which is nice. I go mostly to get my redbull and Davinci syrup. Syrups are about $4 a bottle and they have TONS of different flavors. Case of 24 redbull was $35! Awesome deals. Friendly employees. read more

Been shopping at Cash and Carry for a long time now. Great selection of food and good prices. Purchase wrong item once and went back to exchange and was treated horrible by a store manager. Without explaining their store policies, he basically threw me out of the store. Was extremely rude, don't know how to talk to his customers. So disappointed , Horrible customer service!!! I'm really happy with the store hour and a parking lot here. It's in downtown Everett so you don't expect a good parking but this place has a good parking where i can grab and go fast before my work. I usually here almost twice a week early in the morning. And on top of that the employee and cashier are always fast and wanted to get you going. Prices very good too but i have not checkout the whole store. Vegetables are fresh and i think most of the restaurant shop here and that makes them keep restocking and that is the reason i buy from here. read more
