Been coming here for quite a few years now. The food and flavors are more welcoming than the location may seem, but I've never had any issues here. I also frequent Rubens across the street and have never had an issue there either. The prices for the food are fair, portions are good, and service is quick. I really do love how flavorful the food is but I do think the quality of many of the ingredients leaves much to be desired. Makes me think twice about coming here but when you're eating the food it does hit. It just makes me feel like when I eat jack in the box and i regret eating it because of the quality. An easy tell is the quality of the rice grain. I saw the other reviews mentioning how greasy the food is and I have to agree, asada burrito was dripping grease down the side of me. Some people love to cliché greasy food as better, and that's fun and all, but when I'm at home at 10pm sitting upright on my bed - sometimes on the toilet - with heartburn and wondering why the hell the burrito was as greasy as it was, it ain't so fun anymore. Tacos are also on the greasy side. I will still give it its flowers for flavor alone, especially compared to a lot of options in Compton, it's a stand out. Even with what I mentioned for ingredient quality, they're probably still better than a lot of Compton options. It's really bleak out here. I'd like to give it a 3.5 if possible but I'll round up to 4 stars earned. Went on a Saturday morning and there was a line out the door. The people were very nice and the line moves fast. Decided to try the Chile Relleno Burrito with asada and the Chile Rojo Burrito. Both were great! They definitely pack the burritos and they are big for a reasonable price. I will say it's a bit greasy but the flavor is amazing. I added yellow cheese to the Chile Rojo Burrito and it reminded me of Romonas which is great because it saves me the drive. The salsa that goes inside is good so next time I'll definitely add more. The salsa given on the side is not good at all. I definitely felt like more of the salsa inside the burrito was needed or they need a different side salsa. Since the restaurant's named after Uruapan, I wanted to try their carnitas, but my client swears by the chile relleno burrito. I couldn't decide, so they topped my chile relleno with carnitas. Best decision ever. It was around $18, but the burrito was massive -- enough for two meals if you have self-control (which I didn't). I really was excited to try this place, but after trying it o just can't go back. First, I literally killed a roach on the floor my son pointed out. I was immediately not in the mood for that place anymore. I kicked the roach over to the corner and I squished it not really trying to. The lady behind me in line, opened her eyes wide. When we were going to order My husband asked the lady if she could please use a different knife to cut my chile relleno burrito because I didn't eat pork and she made a face. She couldn't find one so she grabbed one that was on another table. That already has me questioning this place even more. I really wanted to support and like this place. They have oregano, limes and pepper flakes by the cash register. We didn't grab any of that. There was no way. They don't clean the counter where they chop up the meats after each customer, Or at least wipe down after different meats. Definitely disappointed. Started coming here MANY years ago when I was still in college and I would visit California. Back then, no one really knew about this spot and I could be in and out, with one of the best burritos you could ever have, in less than three minutes. Now, over 15 years later, sometimes the line can get very long, thanks mostly to Instagram and TikTok influencers that have given this place deserved coverage! The Green Chile Verde is the best of its kind. I've learned to appreciate the immense amount of graffiti and dilapidated structure that this restaurant is in. But don't be fooled by appearances! The business itself is run by a Latino/Asian family. They're all very kind, even if you don't happen to speak much Spanish.
