I had the WORST experience with Urban Stems. Ordered a bouquet for a birthday celebration. I was disappointed to receive a notice that my delivery would be delayed by 1x day as I chose Urban Stems (instead of other services) because of their ability to deliver on my requested date. Reached out to their "Happiness Team." They apologized and offered to send another "make-up"bouquet at their earliest available ship date which happen to be 3x days after the intended delivery date. Things happen and I appreciated the effort to rectify the problem. Subsequently, 3x days after the intended recipient's bday, I received another delay in delivery notice for the make-up order. *Le sigh* My initial order finally arrived at the recipient's address 1x week late and was wilted and in poor shape. Terrible experience - do not use this company. Not only were my flowers not delivered on the scheduled delivery date, I was not contacted by anyone from the company to explain the delay. When I reached out myself the next day, I was told that my flowers "weren't able to be picked up." They did offer to have a bouquet of "greater value" sent, but it wouldn't be able to be delivered until a full week later than the date I had originally scheduled. I purchased a bouquet of roses for Valentines Day. The were delivered wilting and rotting and my girlfriend said they were warm when delivered. I'll often bring a bouquet home and Rob is always a bit surprised to see that he bouquet does not look anything like the flowers he chose online. To be transparent, UrbanStems sent me a complimentary bouquet so I would be able to see the high quality blooms up close and personal but I am already a believer. Here are the facts: + Same day delivery via bike courier in the DC and Arlington area + Bouquets start at $35 and they will even add a box of Olivia Macarons to the order if you're trying to score extra brownie points + Bouquets do not come with a vase but they are wrapped in burlap and ribbon and a letterpress card so it feels extra homegrown and special (Shabby Chic gals like myslef will go gaga over them!) My flowers were delivered to my apt front desk in the morning and I was unable to pick them up till late that night. When I received them, the stems were still crisp, cool and super fresh. Nary a dent or fallen petal was in sight. Even my door lady commented on how beautiful they were! And the best part was....a giant succulent was hiding among all of the wildflowers! I received a stunning bouquet of flowers that came with a pretty teal blue vase. We put the flowers, the preservative powder and water into the vase, then placed the vase on a placemat on the wood table where we eat all our meals. A good spot to enjoy the beauty. I left the room and returned about 1 hr later to find that the vase had LEAKED WATER onto the table in a large puddle. The standing water had damaged the finish of the table. The first customer service rep told me all their vases are inspected for quality, and suggested I email them with photos. I did so, including a photo of water slowly dripping from the unglazed ring on the bottom of the vase. A second member of the "happiness team" then wrote me implying that I'd somehow caused the problem myself, and gave me a code for 10% off a future order. I like the packaging, but when I received the flowers, some were fresh but two of them were rotting! White mold was already growing on them and the stems were black. I've gotten two bouquets and unfortunately both times they were not good. They ship the bouquets without water in the flowers so all of the flowers are shriveled up as you open the box. The flowers I received today have a harsh odor and smell dead. the bouquet is nothing like the pictures. There are simply too many options out there for me to recommend this place. I found UrbanStems via a Facebook ad. Note: They deliver to all parts of DC and selected parts of Arlington. I often buy fresh flowers to decorate at Whole Foods, but I figured I would give this delivery service a try. As I ordered, I was telling my fiancé about all the beautiful arrangements they had online. Little did I know, he too was placing an order to be delivered the same day! My flowers were delivered between the time frame I selected. I think it's so great that they send you a picture for proof of delivery. I quick went downstairs and picked up my bouquet and the one my fiancé sent from the front desk. The flowers came packaged in a cute carrying box that I tore right through when I got to my apartment. Two beautifully arranged bouquets! I was in love! From roses to sunflowers, accent pieces and a succulent! I was a happy girl! My only complaint is that I was not given flower food and I didn't get the burlap wrap & ribbon everyone has raved about. I could overlook the burlap situation, but having to go buy flower food in addition to having already paid was a bit of a pain. Overall, my flowers were beautiful! THIS COMPANY SUCKS! They are so disorganized and I keep having problems with the gift subscription I got for my mother. Sometimes it doesn't get shipped and it is a constant hassle to keep making sure they are shipping the flowers for the gift subscription. The gift subscriptions are extremely unreliable. They also are having some type of billing problem where they keep charging my credit card multiple times per day for $75, so far they have charged me over $500 and UrbanStems can't figure out why. I have been back and forth with them about this multiple times and they still haven't figured it out and my credit card keeps getting charged multiple times per day. I would not use this company for anything, they are very disorganized and unreliable, and are now fraudulently charging my credit card for no reason and can't figure out why. They send the confirmation email/receipt to the recipient...they specifically asked for that address. So the surprise is ruined. The packaging was great...having worked For a florist, I understand that most flowers are shipped dry...i know how to cut them, what temp water etc...they were beautiful the first 12 hours. I know flowers, I've processed them from the truck to the cooler to the door of the recipient....flowers last a long time, if cared for correctly. These were at the stage we'd used for funerals, the flowers that will be left behind. The caspia began to rot the next day, the smell was gross. The roses were just okay. Do not buy orchids! My first order did not look like the picture on the website. Instead of mature plants with blossoms, I received saplings with small buds. The buds died and fell off in a few days even before opening. I reported the issue to the "happiness team" and they sent me the replacement shown in the picture. The flowers started drooping three days after arrival. In my correspondence with the team, they mentioned a problem with their orchid supplier. They also use FedEx's regular ground service for shipping across the country. They do not use local florists. Needless to mention that the plants are overpriced. They were absolutely not worth the 100+ dollars I spent. For my mom's 60th birthday, I knew I wanted to give her flowers. Their flowers are beautiful and their prices reasonable, BUT...it's their customer service that sets them apart. Last week, I received Valentine's Day roses which arrived looking good but wilted in just three days (I assume they may have had temperature issues in transit, as other flowers from Urban Stems have lasted a long time). When I called and explained what had happened, they told me the flowers should have lasted well over a week, gave me a credit, and sent me a whole new arrangement to replace the previous one. I feel as though they went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction, and I'd highly recommend them. Mid day of the delivery date, I received an email from FedEx and urban stems saying the delivery was delayed. An hour and anxiety attack later I got an update noting that I will be receiving my flowers the day before. I open the boxes and all without fail looked bad. The main flower of the bouquet (orange rose) along with the small daisy looking ones looked wilted and burnt. I got the julliet bouquet with half dead flowers. I got a bouquet delivered for my mother for mother's day and it just was not the same as was pictured.
