Quick and easy helix piercing. The swelling went down after only 2.5 hours
    Ashley C.

I was a walk-in customer that got a helix piercing here. I can say that the experience was splendid even though I'm new to the piercing/tattoo scene. I was greeted promptly upon walking in, and I only had to wait a few minutes for the piercer to sanitize the equipment. Not bad for someone who didn't make an appointment. All the starting studs for helix piercings start at $70, and are made of titanium. They have a comfortable waiting area equiped with couches and fine things to make yourself comfortable if you need to wait. The piercing process was smooth and quick: I will forever vouch for piercings anywhere on the ear done by needles over a piercing gun now. Listening to a piercing gun basically stapling your earlobe is worse than a needle. The swelling was gone within hours, and no pus leaked out from my cartilage: That means the piercer did a stupendous job. I was told to check in again two months later, and that's when I could change my simple stud to something edgier like a hoop if my cartilage was recovering properly.

I got my first black and gray tattoo here back in October from Elijah. He did an awesome job; I get compliments all the time. People always ask where I went and I have referred a couple of people. If you want a quality tattoo at a reasonable price, i.e. no price gouging, then stop by and talk to the artists, especially Elijah if black and gray is your thing.

Caleb was such a pleasure to work with. I sent him pictures of what I wanted and he put it together effortlessly. I even had a last minute addition and he rolled with it. Throughout the tattoo he checked to make sure I was good and made it so easy to trust him with my new ink. I would definitely go to him again. He is very personable and the bomb at what he does

Wow. What a great experience. Storytime - In 2007, I really wanted to play a joke on my boss at the time by getting a Tattoo that represented his business. The result: a sign language V, with a smaller V above it, and a bone sticking out of the sign language V hand. At the time, eh, not bad! It was my first job, no regrets. Damn right, no regrets! In fact, over the years I formulated a plan to get a visual work history half sleeve. In my life, work has been so important to me. I knew though, that if I were to make this dream a reality, I had to find the right artist. So, after combing through the trusty Yelp app on July 4th of 2018, and looking for nearby artists, one caught my eye automatically, at this very shop - You know the shop that has the cool MegaMan and Alien mural? Yes, that is it. Indeed, the artist who's work exhibited an edgy retro animated look that I liked? It was Amanda. I reached out to the business via Yelp Messenger, and had a consult set for a couple of days later with the one and only Amanda. Now, I have quite a lot of trust in people. I liked her work, and it it her craft. I would not particularly want a tattoo artist to tell me how to do Social Work, so my goal was to tell her every job that I had done previously, and let her go wild. Jobs: A shop selling fake Nike shirts when I was 12. Nokia. Chuck E. Cheese's, Target, Sachse High, Applebee's, Black Eyed Pea, BJs Brewhouse, and my current job at T.O.R.I. I already had one to represent Denton State School and Vetoni's (mentioned above). Also, I wanted the filler between the images to be UTA orange and blue. Check. She was super cool, and just had 3 questions: 1. Can you send me a list of the jobs via text? 2. What was Sachse High School's Mascot? 3. Can you send me your logo for your job at T.O.R.I.? Done. I arrived at my scheduled appointment in the coming weeks and she had made some bomb stencils. I adored them, even more than I hoped. Overall, it took 3 sessions (seperated by 2 weeks each time), each between 6 and 8 hours. Each time I was eager to go back, not to finish particularly, but to get to chat a bit with some really cool people. EVERY artist, and person that I encountered there was very down to earth, and encouraging along the way. Throughout the sessions, Amanda made sure that all was well, that I was comfortable, and offered me food every visit during breaks. Her topics of conversation were on point, and I enjoyed getting to know her. I am beyond pleased with the outcome, and am so glad I let her take the wheel. Check in on Yelp and show them the pop up, get a super cool shirt. A big part of getting a tattoo is enjoying the events that surround it. Thanks to Amanda and the staff at Urban's Tattoo South on Cooper, it was an experience I will treasure always.

    Mike's $400 tattoo

Went in for a tattoo to see their availability, made an appointment, SENT my picture. But I did let them know I was 100% on it. Went in the day of my appointment, feeling bad bc I wasn't going to go with the design I had sent and assuming he would have sketches done. He did not, he said I never sent him the picture. I could instantly tell he was upset bc I wasn't wanting the 1k tattoo he had suggested. OVERCHARGED me. And I was feeling uncomfortable bc 1 I had put down a 250 deposit, meaning I wanted something, 2 he wasn't being professional about a piece of PERMANENT art I didn't want. Anyways here is his $400 tattoo he did Vs the $400 COVERUP I went to do at SPARROW TATTOO (2860 FM 157 Mansfield, TX) with GIL who was more professional, listened to me, adjusted the piece until I was happy.

Ryan did such a great job, made us feel like family! Ryan walked us through every step, and kept my daughter calm and relaxed through the whole process! Urban tattoo and piercing is one of the cleanest places around! Hands down the best place to get a tattoo or piercing done!

Found this place from yelp reviews and loved my experience. James was very patient when helping me with my cover up tattoo. I changed my mind several times and was very nervous. Everyone that works there is very friendly and artistic. I HIGHLY recommend them. It was a great experience and I'm absolutely in love with the new piece. I will be going back for sure .

The damaged top layer of skin and black blob cover. Eli's work

At first this place would've had zero stars because the person who tattoos ( can't call him an artist) Eli basically upsold himself and did not deliver. I wanted a simple cover up with a lotus flower. The cover up was literally 3 inches long and .5 inch tall with small words. Not big at all. I asked him from the beginning was he good at cover ups. He said yes (which was not true) his Instagram looked decent but you can tell he doesn't do much cover ups. And that is ok, but as a business person and artist, be honest and say where you are not strong instead of lying and giving me a permanent Marking. So while he was tattooing, people would walk by and give him pointers and he just did not execute well at all. It literally felt like he was digging in my arm trying to add more and more ink. I asked him from the beginning to put his creative touch on it because I dont just want straight from the stencil. (No one draws in this place! There will be no sharpie's or originality. It will be straight from the computer to the stencil to your skin. ALMOST ALL THE "artist" from what I saw) while Eli was tattooing I kept waiting for him to give me some artistic originality. I kept waiting for this, as I watched him just follow the stencil. By the time I looked up the tattoo was done. My arm immediately swelled ridiculously and within a few days I went to urgent care because he had indeed scraped the top layer of my skin off in certain spots and it was infected. I immediately contacted the owner Junior and he told me to let him have a look in person. I can respect that he goes to bat for his artist and he may have not wanted to give me the satisfaction to my face of saying his artist fucked up. He made excuses saying that it was the cover up and my skin that caused the reaction not Eli digging and ripping apart my epidermis. (Yeah I have a medical background) . I loved that Junior took care of my tattoo and had his artist Damien look out for me. I went back in for my consult and told Damien I wanted my lotus Flower still but I can change it as well. He was doing a tattoo on someone else and just happened to be a chrysanthemum. He then tried to sell me an idea of the same flower he was doing on someone else. I wasn't feeling that. The day of my first appointment he had a different flower I'm not familiar with and a mandala underneath. I didn't like it, I then sent him my idea and he executed well. There was no creative aspect, it was literally the photo I had sent to him stenciled on. I didn't want a large tattoo at all but I got something that had meaning for me so I love it. Much better than my first experience with Eli. Damien also knew self care and when to give my skin a break which was a plus! He was great the entire time! It's Sad to cover up 2 little words I had to get a whole half sleeve pretty much! But I love it!

Just completed my first tattoo with Eli at Urbans Tattoo South. The process was very smooth. It started me emailing pics to Eli and somehow he created something way better than I could have ever thought of! I'm so excited to have a beautiful piece of art on my back!

Ryan did the top turquoise & gold piece. You can also see two scars from former piercings that I will be having him repierce soon, as well.

I went to Urban's South location yesterday for the first time and had a flat added to my left ear by Ryan (IG Handle @piercerryan) and I'm so glad I did! I've been going to the same piercing artist in CA for about 11-12 years now, but I recently moved to Texas, so going to someone new was honestly a bit nerve wracking. Ryan made it super easy! He's super nice, professional, clearly very knowledgeable (about piercings and jewelry), he makes sure you're comfortable and aware of what he's doing as he does it, AND he's a free hand piercer, so no uncomfortable clamps or anything! I was able to get a beautiful piece of high quality jewelry that I'm totally in love with, but I will say that (like any other Piercing studio that has a really good piercer on staff) their best stuff probably goes quick, so if you're looking for something in particular, you'll definitely want to give them a call to see what they have in stock and set up an appointment ASAP when they have what you want. Another thing I want to shout out, is that I called the day before to set up appointments with Ryan this coming weekend for myself and two other people, and I asked the girl who answered the phone if she could send me photos of their current inventory, AND SHE DID! Her name is Kaitlynn, and she was super nice and went above and beyond to be helpful! All in all, I'm really glad I went with Urban's South for my piercing! It was a great experience, and I'll definitely be going back, often!

This tattoo shop is dope af and the cleanest one I have ever stepped into. The staff is so friendly funny and very welcoming. I contacted this place spontaneously one day at work and spoke with Elijah, he got me in pretty fast and efficiently. When I arrived, he had the tattoo drawn up and ready to go. Thank you so much for working with me on such short notice and making things happen. If your worried about going out in public because of the covid-19, you wont catch crap here but good vibes and great work! Support your local artist!

This post is a long time coming. I've always wanted a full sleeve tattoo, but for the longest time…read moreI had no idea how to start. Like many people, I thought I could just walk into a shop and ask, "How much is a sleeve?"--and quickly realized that's not how it works. A sleeve takes time, planning, patience, and commitment. My first point of contact at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale was Nick, and he was incredible in helping me plan, design, and kick off my sleeve with some major pieces. He was patient, collaborative, and made the process enjoyable. His linework is bold and crisp, and I genuinely appreciated the hours spent with him. From there, Nick introduced me to Lexi, CJ, and Lyandra, who each added meaningful pieces to my arm. Every one of them took the time to not only tattoo, but to connect through great conversations that made me feel like part of the family. To this day, I feel like I could stop by just to say hi--even without booking a session. That's how comfortable and welcomed they made me feel. While working on my sleeve, I came across an Instagram video by Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX (also known for his work at Elm Street Tattoo). His video showcased his incredible ability to tie tattoos together with creative gap fillers, making the whole arm flow beautifully. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make the trip to Texas to have him finish my sleeve. When I finally sat in Carlos's chair, it felt like we clicked instantly. He freehanded with a Sharpie, which made the planning and flow effortless, and he was both meticulous and insanely efficient. If you can handle the pain, he can accomplish a ton in a single session! He tied everything together with gap fillers and larger webs on my shoulder and elbow, and when we wrapped up, I realized he had put the perfect finishing touch on my sleeve. This journey has been deeply personal. My inner-arm soccer player was my first tattoo below the t-shirt line--visible to the world. For me, it symbolized finally being comfortable in my own skin at 40 years old, making decisions for myself instead of for others. Every artist along the way has contributed to that story, and their work is now permanently part of me. I recently saw a video of an older woman explaining why she got her first tattoo at 80 years old. She said, "When I was a kid, I got stickers for being good. I've been good my whole life--I want more stickers." That resonated with me. Tattoos are my stickers, my reminders that I've lived, grown, and celebrated who I am. So, if you're looking for artists who not only create incredible tattoos but also make you feel welcome, valued, and inspired, go see the amazing team at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale--and if you get the chance, make your way to Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX. These are the people you want on your sleeve journey
