Overall experience was ok! A solid 4 stars. We came on a Saturday around noon, the place was not crazy busy, but they were having a constant flow of customers. Parking can get hectic, lots of other shops around. It was a clean restaurant, well maintained and organized. The staff could've been nicer. A "Hi and welcome," would have been nice. But she was still professional and patient as she took our orders. The food was ok. It was just good. Good flavor, chicken was a bit dry, nothing some sauce couldn't fix haha. Not sure if I'll come back though, it is really out of my way, but it has good stars on help and google so I wanted to try it! Would I recommend it? Yes, try it if you are around the area! read more

Bday 2025 Shout out to new manager: Jessica. I came here after what seems to be 6 years. I was next door at the bagel shop and decided to visit Urban Cafe and see what was new. I realized on my app, i had a bday free cookie that i could redeem and said "why not"? I chose their seasonal oatmeal raisin cookie and saw some cool changes to menu. U.C was a go to spot for me, but things went downhill while they were changing up management. After talking to Jessica for a bit and learning about the new expansions of UC into SJC, Irvine, Westminister and Orange im hoping that things have changed and i will be back to check out their new avocado kale quinoa salad that looked good. read more

I have to be honest, I was given a gift card for Urbane Cafe and wasn't too excited to try, not because it didn't look good, I'm just not a fan of focaccia bread. Wife decided we'd use up our gift cards tonight, so I went ahead and got a BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich and BBQ Potato Chips. I have to admit, I'm truly a fan of Focaccia bread (at least from Urbane Cafe). The bread was not as dense and dry as I'm used to, it was very soft and a bit fluffy (yeah kinda fluffy) and the tri tip was cooked perfectly, the bbq sauce and slaw were both flavorful, and the cheese was nice and melted. Something had a bit of a kick, I think the bbq sauce. The sandwich was very good, the right amount of ingredients. My wife got the Club Sandwich, I tried a bite and it was pretty good too. The pizza we got just to use up the gift cards, and it was pretty good too. I think the pizza is part of the kids menu, and a great idea for kids that may not like a sandwich or salad. The gal that helped me was super friendly and the restaurant was spotless clean. I would very much recommend Urbane Cafe even if you don't have a gift card! read more

I came here to grab lunch during my break. I tried the Baja Bowl and really enjoyed it! What stood out the most was the chicken. I thought it was super tender and the marinade was very good. All of the flavors paired well together, and the bowl was a good size leaving me feeling full! When you order inside, you will also see a hot plate with cookies on display behind the counter. These cookies are delicious, highly recommend getting one! I took my food to go and was very impressed by how efficient they were having this ready! read more

Quality control here is terrible. The sandwiches are prepared with an assembly line mentality. I went in at the time my online order was estimated and was told 11 more minutes. I watched as they prepared several (at least 8) orders at the same time. My sandwich, the bbq tri-tip ended up with more sauce than meat and made me sick to my stomach. This wasn't the first time, as another time (I'd forgotten I'd sworn off this place) my sandwich had way too much tomatillo salsa and was inedible. They also have forgotten items in multiple orders. One time a while back there was a customer with her cat in her arms at the counter. I alerted an employee that this was a health code violation but she said, it's ok, they are regulars. I watched as the lady stroked the cat and could see hair being shed a few feet from the food prep. Management- don't bother replying to this, as you do with all negative reviews, but spend some e time training staff on quality control and food safety. read more

Delicious is in the details. This is stapled on their wall, and definitely applies here! The decor is modern with wood accents and plenty of seating. The menu has lots of great options, and lots on the healthy side, but still super tasty! I had to try the So Cal sandwich first. It's got chicken, avocado, pepper jack, chipotle aoli, and tomatillo over their own focaccia bread. It was excellent! Also comes with a small side salad. This was a full meal with side included that doesn't break the bank. All of their poultry is all natural and hormone free. They have vegetarian dishes, lots of soups and salads, and offer gluten free bread as a substitute. I'm gonna have to try their chimichurri steak sandwich next time! Oh and you gotta get one of their freshly baked cookies. They're soft-centered with slightly crunchy edges, just how I like it! Will definitely be back for sure! read more

Food is wonderful, staffing numbers are bad. We went at lunch, and the manager instructed the cashier that we had to wait 10 minutes before we could even place our order. We waited, and placed finally our order. After placing our order, we were told that bc they were busy, it would be 20-30 more minutes before we got our food. The poor guys behind us were told they had to wait ANOTHER 10 mins before they could place an order. They finally got fed up and left. Food was great. No complimentary bag of chips or cookie or apology from management for the excessive wait time. So, if you are here for a work lunch, head's up that they are inadequately staffed for the lunch rush it will throw off your schedule. read more

One of my fave cafes. Tried it in Pasadena and now have been to this location like 4-5 times. I'm obsessed with the fresh made focaccia they use on the sandwiches and as a side to the salads. Sometimes I can't resist order a separate full order of bread for the table if I'm feeling carby. Amazing fluffy goodness with that balsamic sauce. My go to's are usually the southwest sandwich, the southwest salad, or the chimichurri steak sandwich. Really haven't not liked anything though. I've also tried the cilantro torta and some of the salmon and poke bowls and those are also yummy and healthy. Love that they are transparent about calories and nutrition facts. Ordered catering for a client that requested Urbane Cafe for lunch. How have I never been here before?? The food was delicious and their GF bread was insane. I was worried that it might not be GF because it was THAT tasty. Shoutout to the catering team that was able to accommodate me by making a last-minute adjustment for my order as well as the manager, Jessica, who was hospitable, friendly, and courteous when I went in to the restaurant to pick up. With hospitality and guest service going to the wind with many restaurants as of late, I had a very refreshing experience. Usually, we like this place. People are usually nice. There's one lady that always ensures our orders are ready and complete and I'm comfortable when we order because we order online. When she's not there, my wife doesn't get her extra dressing or we don't get the extra bread or we don't get the stuff that we ordered or it's wrong. Today was such a day. I noticed the lady wasn't there. It was another woman young girl, dark hair glasses and I asked about the extra dressing and she looked at me like duh very nonchalant didn't seem to care and said it's in there. I Went out to the car and looked and it wasn't there. I went back in and asked for the dressing. I said it wasn't in there she hands me one and I said thank you and she's walked away continuing to talk to her coworker. very rude. If there is a choice between urbane and somewhere else next time I will definitely keep this in mind. read more

I scored big time when I had lunch at Urbane Cafe! I spontaneously picked out this spot for lunch and have no regrets since. Upon walking in, you get hit with the fresh focaccia bread baking in their fire oven. The smell truly induces hunger. The service was wonderful and quick despite experiencing a small lunch rush too. The menu options are healthier and lighter, which is a huge plus as I am trying to eat more nutritious foods when going out! Highly recommend- will come back with friends and family. Chimichurri Steak Sandwich: -The steak was incredibly tender and flavorful! They are not humble with the amount of steak slices you get in this sandwich. Holly Smokes the Cilantro Torta made with fresh bread was probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I saved half the sandwich for a later meal and so so glad I did. There's another popular chain that's known for their sandwiches (think a 'county' name in Norcal) I don't want to discourage people from going there, but this restaurant is far and wide much better with better portions inside their sandwiches and better quality overall. We came on Saturday, specifically to order their new Ahi poke sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! Fast and great service! I generally order food from their website/Yelp, and it's always ready quickly. Picking up the food is really easy too, as they have a shelf near the front where you can pick it up. The staff are also super friendly from what I can tell, and the restaurant is very clean. Great tip -- create an account on their website. You accumulate points that can be used for drinks, cookies, etc. Their sandwiches are honestly so good, with the in-house made focaccia. I will say this location's focaccia is not as thick as the ones in SD, but that flavor is still on point! The sandwiches are pretty value too since they come with a salad. I would say the salad entrees portions are not as generous, but they're still pretty filling. They also come with a side of focaccia, so you won't be missing out on what they do best if you want to choose a more fibrous meal! read more

I come here once a week, and have for almost a year. I love their cafe salad. Today was an off day though. The pears were mushy and inedible, very little cheese, and the avocado was not fresh. It's pretty disappointing when you get home, and your meal does not meet your expectations. Not even their chocolate chip cookie cheered me up. Urbane is the best! I first tried this place in San Luis Obispo two years ago and was thrilled to discover that there is a location in South OC, I come here almost weekly! I've tried various items; the sandwiches, bowls, soup, and salads and all have been fresh and taste wonderful. I typically order on the app and my food is always ready for pickup when I arrive. Pretty delicious and a nice healthy lunch place. I love the variety of flavors and options. They do both cold and warm sandwiches. I got the Mediterranean Chicken, which was cold. It was big enough that I saved the other half for another meal later.  However, the flavor while good, wasn't very strong, and it felt like everything on the sandwich was just "mild". My niece got a kid's cheese pizza and it was great compared to most child menu options. Would recommend if you want something that feels healthy and isn't the normal run of the mill items.
