After my positive experience at a UYE here, I decided to take advantage of Urban Om's 10 day unlimited classes for $10 offer. I signed up for as many classes as my schedule would allow to get a sense of all that they offer here. Turns out, quite a bit. There are plenty of evening and weekend classes that fit my schedule, but weekday ones, too. They also offer several different types of classes - different paces, different ability levels. The instructors, Jozi and Kelsey, are really skilled at what they do. With two instructors, you get variety in teaching styles and flows. It keeps my short attention span happy. Each class was challenging and left me feeling great afterward. The space is clean, comfortable and welcoming. The instructors are incredibly thoughtful in their direction of each class, down to the lighting and music. read more

Urban Om is a wonderful local yoga studio! There are experienced teachers, a variety of different classes that can suite all levels, and a selection of times to fit all schedules. The studios themselves are clean and inviting. The entire place feels cozy and down to earth. The downstairs studio had an incredible Milwaukee skyline mural as well. There are lot of pricing options for class packs and membership, which are pretty in line with other studios in the area. They often have deals and sales too. There certainly is a sense of community and they have monthly themes for classes to keep everyone engaged in a joint focus. They also do a number of fun events and workshops to mix things up. Definitely try a class here if you haven't! read more

I'm pretty convinced I'll never be one of those flexible pretzel people who can move their bodies into gumby-esque poses. So why, you ask, do I keep coming to yoga classes?? Well, the other day I spent 20 minutes (fact!) with brows furrowed, jaw clenched, knuckles whitened, and my body stuck in that same ole 90 degree from torso to thigh and then from thigh to shin pose while I tried to navigate a mid-town traffic jam. I like many other people who commute and work in an office, keep my bones and joints held this way for most of my day. Well the yoga classes have shown me that there's probably 1 gillion (less factual & scientifically based than my 20 minute time measurement from above) that your joints and body are able to move if given the practice and opportunity. Just sitting or standing seems like such a waste....if you go through your whole life without exploring different movements, it'll be like going to a hotel and finding out they had a pool on the last day of your vacation. I'm stretching this metaphor (see what I did there?) I know, but work with me on this one. The Urban om studio looks exactly how you might imagine an urban studio to look, with hard wood floors, a beautiful bright mural of the Milwaukee skyline, and a disco ball (that's right) overhead. The lighting is soft and they keep the temperature pretty toasty. I always feel stronger, especially in my core muscles, after a class. It's hard to explain why or how it's happening, but its tightening up my tummy in a way no crunch or sit up can mimic. They have a number of different classes, with the newbie one called sub-urban flow and it's a little slower than the regular, urban flow. There's also some other classes like boot camp, one focusing on connective tissue etc (disclaimer: I've only tried the sub-urban one and the regular urban flow one.) They have some great deals for class packages right now, ($30 for 30 days unlimited and a couple others, or $15 for a dropin), and you can rent a mat for only $1. Come check it out! read more

I first went to Urban Om because my best friend has gone for awhile and always raved about it. So it was my first stop when I moved back to the city in September. I love the wide variety of classes they offer. I work from home, so I love that there are so many opportunities to come during traditional "working" hours. It's perfect to stop in during lunchtime or late afternoon. The daytime classes are often just several students, so I really like being able to connect more with the instructors. They also have a lot of special workshops and events, which is great to have access to. One thing I think they are lacking is more beginner-level classes. A lot of classes are just led verbally, which I think can be really difficult for new students who aren't familiar with the names of poses or how they're done. As a yoga teacher myself, I appreciate the more advanced class offerings and styles, but I think accessibility for people of all levels is really important, so I see a bit of room for growth there. Ultimately it's great studio space with tons of friendly teachers and students, so if you're a practiced yogi, definitely check it out! read more

I first went to Urban Om for the 108 Sun Salutations class and fell in love with the studio and instructors. I have now been going here for 9 months and it is by far the best studio and yoga instructors I've experienced in Milwaukee. There is a wide variety of classes, levels and instructors for every type of student. I really love the Power 75 Flow because it really gives you a challenging workout to take my practice to that next level of intensity. The variety of time for classes throughout the day and week is also fantastic. I highly recommend going to Urban Om....and be prepared to sweat! read more

Urban Om is awesome!! I've only been to two classes so far -- I'm doing a 2 weeks unlimited class special for only $35 -- but I'm already so impressed and will keep taking classes here after the two weeks, for sure. I attended a Friday evening slow flow class and a Sunday evening flow for all levels class. The slow follow was pretty traditional and a solid stretch. The teacher was clear and the room was packed. The flow for all levels was actually one of the best classes I've had in years. Kelsey was intentional and grounding and very creative with the flow. I was so impressed. So happy to have discovered Urban Om! read more

UO has made me love yoga. I couldn't help but change from an apathetic observer into a die-hard fan after taking a couple classes at this studio. I even became a member! Okay, let me explain. Jozi and Kelsey, who own the studio, are both fantastic teachers. Why? Because their classes are fun, difficult, and you feel like a brand new version of yourself after each one. Practicing with them has really helped to change my whole approach to yoga. I can't explain it. I'm always excited to go to class to see how I'm going to push myself and strengthen my body and mind -- I've never felt this way about yoga before, or about any studio. Kelsey and Jozi are good people, and that's part of the appeal of taking a class with them -- it's hard work, but it's work that you're doing with friends. They have a pretty good variety of classes, and they offer loads of monthly workshops for those of us who want to deepen our practice. My favorite classes are the Happy Hour class (on Friday at 5:30pm), the lunchbox class (Wednesdays and Fridays at noon), and the Monday and Wednesday night classes. But honestly, they are all my favorite. The space is pretty cool too. The architecture of the space allows for plenty of natural light, and a local artist has done a piece on their back wall (check the Yelp photos) that is really stunning. They run a great ten-for-ten deal: ten days for ten dollars, which is a steal! If you're looking for a new studio or just a different yoga experience, I'd head to UO! read more

The instructors I had were very nice during class, but my experiences have just not been good here. My first day, I forgot to fill my water bottle before arriving, and instead of offering bottled water, a drinking fountain, or even a kitchen sink, I was offered to fill it in the bathroom. Perhaps I should have taken note, as my most recent experiences have been far worse. Tuesday evening I took what was considered an all levels class. Though I have been practicing yoga for 3 1/2 years, going 2-3xs/wk, this class included far more backbends than I have ever done in a series, and not in a heated space. Stopping points were not communicated during instruction as clearly as I have heard them in many classes I've attended in the past. I modified my poses consistently and listen to my body, trying to find the balance between enjoying the strengthening and stretching and challenge, and working on modifying to assure I protected my body. I have been in significant back pain for days. Today I'm going to a chiropractor, and probably urgent care. I called to speak to the manager, whose name I think is Kelsey, and she tried to explain how every person's body is different and that during class we need to listen to our bodies. Though she offered to speak to the instructor about what happened, I did not get the feeling she listened to me and understood my point. I felt as though she blamed me. I guess I blame the studio. I think the studio should have teachers that construct series of poses that truly work for the full spectrum in an all levels class. I would consider myself an intermediate and the class, advanced. I saw the instructor make personal adjustments to many people, but never to me, although there were probably only seven other students in the class. I'm not angry, and I hope my tone does not mis-convey anger. Though, I am certainly a dissatisfied customer who called to offer a recommendation to alter future content so others could avoid injury. As I did not feel my concern was taken seriously, I thought I would note it publicly. I was directly injured after taking a class at Urbam Om that worked for the teacher and studio owner (who was in the class), but not for me. read more

This place is magical!! I am farther in my practice then I have ever been, and I have only been to 5 classes! They help push you to your best! They help you when you are struggling getting into a pose and let you laugh at yourself when you face plant! I am so thankful that Jozi and Kelsey have opened this studio. They have made this newbie yogi into a more flexible and confident yogi. read more

I have been doing yoga for the past few years, and lately I've been feeling as if my practice has plateaued. After only two classes at Urban Om, I am out of my yoga rut! Jozi and Kelsey teach awesome flows that are challenging and invigorating. It's not the same old vinyasa yoga that I am used to! The Urban Om space is funky and open. If I was allowed to, I would bring my sleeping bag and catch some Z's under the light of the disco ball. This studio is full of good energy and laughter. read more

I joined the Urban Om tribe almost two years ago and it is truly a special studio. I'm challenged with advanced vinyasa classes or nourished with yin and restorative options too. I love the opportunity to work my arm balances and handstands at the work shops. The community of Urban Om has a special place in my heart. Blessed to be exploring my yoga practice with these talented instructors and fellow yogis. Find your tribe, love them hard. read more

What a lovely little yoga studio on Farwell! UO rocks various types of classes from yin and fundamentals to faster-paced/harder hitting classes like their "jungle" class. The instructors are lovely and the space is clean and homey and humble and comfortable. I'm excited to return to try a few more classes in the nearish future (once I kick this godforsaken sickness I can't shake). I really dig yoga and don't currently have a "home" studio, so this very well could be it pending further investigation. :) Let me know if you want to come with! read more

Happy hour yoga!! Happy Hour Yoga is basically the best happy hour in Milwaukee!! Yoga and drinks after!! FTW( for the win) couldn't be happier when Friday comes and I get to stop by my favorite spot on the east side. Location is amazing!!! Located right behind the whole foods. The staff is so talented. Kelsey is so friendly and has given private lessons to my family. They are almost pro's. I love the dedication and hard work. read more

I love going to Urban Om because you get such creative flows and each class I attend incorporates an intention and modifiable poses (which is super important to a person with a lot of past injuries). The classes consistently challenge me in different ways, and I feel my practice improving each time I go. Also the staff and instructors are super friendly! read more

I've been both a teacher and student at Urban Om for almost two years and it has been so fulfilling being part of this studio and watching as it continues to grow into a thriving community. Each teacher is passionate about what they do and has something beautiful and unique to add to the practice. There is a good variety of classes where both beginners and advanced practitioners can explore and grow. Not only has my physical practice grown here, but I have also made many friends. Milwaukee is so lucky to have this community! read more

Not going to lie, I was really excited to try a class here because of all the good reviews on Yelp. I arrived for the class about 20 minutes early, which is the amount of time other studios I've been to appreciate if you are a newcomer. When I arrived to the door, everything was locked, EVEN THOUGH there was a class scheduled in 20 minutes. The reason I'm giving this place two stars is based on their lack of communication on their website with the customers. If there was a chance that the class was canceled, they certainly should say so on their schedule in order to uphold the professionalism that this studio is known for on Yelp. read more

I've tried a few studios in the MKE area, but none of them quite felt like home before urban om. The studio walls shimmer with glitter almost as bright as the disco ball hanging from the ceiling, seriously how fun?! Extremely clean welcoming space. Amazing knowledgeable teachers that will help your practice grow safely. Make sure to take one of Tonieh & Kirsten's lunchbox classes. :) read more

Urban Om has a great class schedule offering a variety of times, instructors, and styles. The vinyasa flow classes are fun, unique, and energetic. While the slow flow and Yin classes provide a balanced, restorative approach. The disco ball and graffiti mural gives a funky and dream-like vibe to the studio. This is one of the most authentic and inviting studios in Milwaukee. Kelsey, the owner, plans events and outings to further create a sense of community for all who visit the studio. I'm so thankful to have found this studio and the yogis who practice here. read more

Urban Om is a fantastic place to practice. They have classes for all levels, and the teachers challenge you to push yourself, while still listening to your body and its limitations. Kelsey has done a wonderful job of building an open and supportive community of yogis. I would recommend this studio to anyone, regardless of your level. read more

Best yoga studio I have even been! Location is awesome, the studio is spacious and fun and the energy is contagious. All of the teachers I had so far are super talented, fun and they really take your time teaching those famous amazing yoga moves. I have been going to Urban Om for a little over a year and I noticed a huge difference on how much I learned and am able to do now. I love the fact they provide evenings and weekend classes since I'm not able to attend a lot of the afternoon classes due to work. The teachers come up with fun ways of interacting with the students and no classes is the same as other - you are guaranteed to leave every class learning something new every time! read more

This place is still my favorite in town, and the newer upstairs space is great. Excellent teachers, evolving class options, good people practicing. read more

I love the space, the teachers and the classes! There is seriously a class for everyone and every level on the schedule. And I'm such a fan of the schedule - so many options to choose from! This place is amazing. The instructors are wonderful and the owners, Jozi and Kelsey are welcoming and highly skilled at what they do. I recommend this place to anyone who is considering trying yoga, or hoping to build up on their existing foundation. Urban Om is my yoga home. I've been practicing here regularly for about a year. My favorite instructors teach here and I believe they're the best in the Milwaukee area. I love that each teacher has a unique, distinct style and the classes are challenging in different ways. Whenever I try a new class or a new instructor, I'm completely satisfied. The more I practice here, the more I'm able to be present and enjoy life. You really have to come see for yourself! read more

Amazing teachers!!! Best studio in Milwaukee by far. The teachers are experienced--bringing body, mind and spirit all in a " kick your butt' sequencing of asanas. I have done yoga for almost 2 decades now and Urban Om is the one place you can go everyday and never get bored. Each practice is different: theme and sequencing and a lot of fun too. read more
