Had an overall good experience at the North Charleston Urban Nirvana location. Scheduling a group massage appointment was easy and the front desk was very accommodating. There was a last-minute therapist callout shortly before the appointment, which caused some confusion and delays once the group arrived. To their credit, the staff was apologetic and worked to make adjustments with additional services and accommodations. The massages themselves were excellent -- relaxing atmosphere, skilled therapists, and worth the price. Compared to the West Ashley location, this one felt a little lighter on the "luxury spa" amenities in the getting-ready/post-service areas, but it didn't take away from the actual massage experience. Best massage I have ever had! Richard was phenomenal. The ambiance from the minute you walk in, the changing room, massage room, and the relaxing post seating was like no other. They offer infused water, tea, and snacks. But at the end of the day... it all comes back to the massage. Something we don't do often enough for ourselves. Finally able to get a reservation, only to have someone call and ask that I reschedule the time to accommodate the masseuse, which I did by rearranging my schedule. Then received a call one hour before my appointment to say it was cancelled altogether. Ridiculous and poor customer service. Leila offered no discount for the inconvenience or anything that could be a sign of wanting to keep me as a customer. Another amazing visit to Urban Nirvana!! Went to see my girl, Amber for a wax session. She is fast and makes everything so quick and easy. Everyone there is so friendly and answered all my questions - I wanted to buy a gift card for a different service and they had all the answers and then some. The room I was in was comfortable and the table I had was one I could have easily taken a nap on. The service felt like it was done before it even started. That's how great of a job Amber does! Well... my daughter & I went here today for her 7th birthday & I wanted to make her feel pampered & beautiful. She was very excited until we arrived... the host at the front was very nice & walked us in the back... once we were back not one stylist said hello to my daughter & I. I noticed the stylist that was going to be doing her hair was almost done with a previous client so we were next. She put my daughter in the chair & asked her two things well...asked me what we were looking for today & what she could do for us. I told her she wanted it shampooed & styled & possibly some tinsel if they had it available. After those two questions she did not interact with my daughter again.. she washed her hair, dried it & said a couple of small things but not anything as to what I was expecting for it being one of my daughters first time being in a salon chair. MY DAUGHTER ALMOST FELL ALSEEP IN THE CHAIR, one because it probably felt good but because she was bored. I asked her multiple times if she was okay & if she was having fun & that she sure did look beautiful but my daughter read the room & noticed the vibe so she was a little uncomfortable & awkward as one would be. I WILL not be going back to this place ever again. The experience my daughter deserved & the experience she received was unacceptable. I have never had a facial ever but, can someone please explain to me is it normal for them to squeeze your blackheads with their finger nails? Isnt that a health issue? Truly the worst haircut I've gotten in my entire life. I was told to come back to get it "fixed" I came back and was told I would need to come back multiple times for them to be able to fix it due to the horrific job the stylist did the first time. I was only refunded for the conditioning treatment while I was still charged for the initial haircut. I have never in my life experience such an unprofessional experience when getting my hair cut. Every service I have received here has been outstanding. From check in to wrap up the staff is friendly, courteous, and efficient. But the waiting room... Why??? Every time I sit in this waiting room, I find myself trying to figure out what's wrong with it. It's cold--both literally and figuratively. Not cool, but cold. The overall sense of personality is entirely absent. This is not just neutral, its gelded. It's no better than it has to be and nothing encourages me to get comfortable. There are only 3 soft things in the entire room, and none of them are natural. Little comforts are missing...there's water, but no cucumbers, mint, or orange slices. There are snacks, but the serving cups are literally half the size of the serving ladle. Everything is hard--the tables are glass and metal. On top there's ceramics, a bejeweled vase, and cement candle. Even the pictures on the wall are of sliced quartz stone. Finally, the napkins. Maybe the most insulting of all...the napkins are the rough, grey, tri-folded, industrial paper towels. Bottom line? This room says "get out," not "get comfortable." Really guys? read more

My friends gave me Urban Nirvana gift card 4-5 years ago for a massage ( they included a tip - total $75). They were told that the gift card never expire. Life got in a way and I had a child as well and called a month ago to schedule it, however the lady said that the gift card is no longer valid because there was $2 charge each month so it ate the entire balance. Karen saves my life every time I'm in town long enough to go! She is phenomenal. She gives just the right amount of pressure and used to have amazing playlist. She is super personable and informative. If you cant book Karen it is WISE to book a master, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. I was very excited to book an appointment here!!! I arrived 10minutes before my appointment was to happen for a color retouch. It was my first time there, I was greeted by the receptionist who directed me to the waiting area. After waiting 40 minutes, neither of the 2stylist seemed to be near finishing with their current clients. I was not approached by anyone to let me know that my appointment was going to be a little later than expected, or even introduced to my stylist. Love the spa services here but I'd go somewhere else for a haircut. I've tried twice, two separate stylist...both bad. One cut about a millimeter off, didn't shampoo my hair, and still charged me for a full haircut (which is what I wanted). The other cut off way more that I wanted and it wasn't even cut nicely--a 4" "trim." I showed pics both times but it seemed the stylists just did what they wanted. Excellent and new facilities. Cheapest massage in the area ($30-50 cheaper than downtown Charleston). My one hour massage was $90. I went in with a horrible back and neck pain (sleeping on bad pillows). When I left all of the pain left. Next time I'm in town I'll be back! Thanks y'all! read more

The location is perfect, convenient, easy in & out. The facility is very clean, bright, and modern. I have not used any of the spas services at Urban Nirvana. I would only recommend master stylist to touch your hair. Brandon is wonderful, and he is level 4 or 6. Tori is great also but she's no longer there. The last time I went was Oct 2018, was scheduled for a haircut with Taylor. I needed a trim and take some bulkiness out. She used thinning shears and did approximately 25 cuts. I really didn't pay attention until she said she was all done, but she scalped my hair. It was beyond too late to fix but she knew I was not happy. I just had a haircut at Vintage Hair Salon last week, and stylist definitely could tell it was OVER texturized, and she could tell they cut way too close to my scalp when texturizing. If I had short hair, i understand but my hair is halfway down my back. Maybe stylist need more training with hair and customer interaction. Maybe she was being passive aggressive. Or maybe just a bad day. But that is the 3rd bad experience there and was my last. It's sad because I really wanted to love this location. read more
